Are we all going to sidestep the fact that 'gold digger' Meghan was paying for everything.
'we don't have money for her'

She was paying for heaters, lights and sofas. You name it.
All the while we are being fed that she is a 'gold digger' who has come into a privileged family.

They only paid for the decoration cost because they left.

they had to pay for the renovations as they left, the house comes with the job. Like school caretakers used to get a house on the grounds. They were renovations as it was multiple flats and offices converted into one large home. Had they stayed working, they would not have had to pay.

Whatever, indeed.

No caretakers pay for renovation to have the house with good standards to live in. Dicky Arbiter who has been to Frogmore (having worked for the palace for years), also came on TV and admitted that the house had not been touched in decades. He mentioned rusty pipes and problems, so Frogmore was already earmarked for due renovations.

If the caretaker stops working, they can pay rent to carry on living at the premises, what they don't do is pay millions for due renovations - and H&M are still reportedly paying that rent on top of the re-imbursement.

As for the wedding that you are all harping on about, it was already reported ages ago that they wanted a small wedding and were not granted it.

And that’s why they didn’t pay for the actual renovations that were needed, the tax payer did. They just paid for the decorative aspect. And they wouldn’t have paid that if they had stayed.
Using your analogy, I doubt an employer would pay for merely cosmetic updates to a caretakers property, especially if they left the job straight after they were done to his personal taste.

Windsor / datchet did flood about ten years ago, William and Harry helped with the clean up. Ay be that’s where the confusion has come from

admittedly it’s fucking hilarious when people bite.

can’t help thinking this is her??
if it is, getting revising you’ve exams coming up

notanotheroneagain · 17/01/2023 12:07

No, don't twist this.

The crown initially paid for the 2.4M of needed renovations. This was what was needed for the basic renovations.
At that time, H&M paid for the extra 'luxuries' . Let's say for example if they wanted cherry wood floor-instead of basic/gold tap-instead of basic etc. (mind you, most of the reported extravagance, never actually took place - not at the reported scale anyway). They paid for these while still working, during the renovations. No problems there.

Except, when they left they then re-embursed the 2.4M, meaning not only did they pay for the basic needed renovations, but they had also paid the extras from their pockets during the renovations. They are also paying rent for when they come back, despite not living there full time (they should be charged on BNB basis, as far as I'm concerned, especially as other family members can utilise the space when they are not there).

Interestingly in his book Harry says the RF put out the statement saying he and Meghan would pay back the costs of renovation, but they had never agreed to that. Sounded very much like he was saying we didn’t pay them back, he never mentions finding the money to do so for example. I don’t believe he paid them a penny. The RF put the statement out as they knew otherwise people would be furious with the wastefulness of this couple.

Someone needs to speak to her about internalised misogyny

They certainly do. I can’t imagine knowing my daughter knew her friend did this and not giving her a piece of my mind. As to finding it hilarious … No words.

I’m not twisting it. It’s basic knowledge of how the monarchy works.

it is a crown property, like hundreds of others. Harry and Meghan are merely tenants (like me, I rent mine) . It’s not their house. They turned down their house charles offered to buy.
the same as the other properties if they needed a new roof etc it’s the sovereign grant that pays. it’s maintaining it. Believe me 2.4 million would not go far on a listed massive house.

Don't see where they are not paying anything. Even if that were true, why would they pay for a renovations that were needed in the first place - well except the palace briefed that a furore must be made about the renovations (including about its non existent upgrades). I remember Chris Ship reading out the finance report (which we all saw), showing Frogmore at the top for some reason (even he was baffled why this was on top of the list). Then the 'furore' of their waste ' began.

Nott seeing any protection either.

Just abuse really. Even by your rhetoric, We put out nonsense about you, then we 'defend you against it'. Pick abuse I would say.

Wasn't the "we don't have money for her" comment after Charles saw she spent 100k in her engagement dress (paid by Charles of course?) ? It was a salvo.

ghjklo · 17/01/2023 14:16

the engagement dress was paid for by herself as clearly detailed in the press.

jeffgoldblum · 17/01/2023 14:25

No , she paid for her wedding dress , Charles paid for engagement dress.

I’ve re read your post again. The house was renovated because it was described as being a shell before that. So all the money was spent and then they decided to leave. People were understandably outraged because millions had been spent. They didn’t need the palace to brief them to be.
The protection is that the palace said they’ll pay the money back to calm the population down. Harry didn’t say another word about paying the money in the book and spends most of the remainder crying about how he might have to put his hand in to his own pockets to pay for his day to day expenses.

notanotheroneagain · 17/01/2023 16:43

Except you left out the part that it was due/needed to be renovated.

You also left out that in that same financial year, the Kensington Palace drive was upgraded for a million, a drive, and even more for the Colosseum. None of which have any living beings, but we are supposed to be angry about an actually living family of husband, wife and kid who are renovating a place that actually needs renovations in the first place?

We also learn that later, not only is the family going back every now and again, but other family members have been using this space.

Frogmore cottage was lying empty. The queen said if they wanted it then it would have to be renovated. They said yea please. That’s what harry says in the book. I already said it was a shell.
People were angry because 2.5 million or thereabouts was spent and then the couple it had been renovated for split the country. They weren’t angry it had been renovated for them. It’s the waste of money.
Well thank god someone is using it, what do you want them to do let it go to rack and ruin???

There’s nothing misogynistic about it. But granted, she is a troll.

Of course it is misogynistic. Why does she not pose as a 28 year old male?

Women, especially those of a certain age, are deemed to be of little value and their opinions are deemed invalid by society. Hence the huge demand for forums such as Mumsnet where women can converse on a level playing field.

She is cultivating and using that misogyny for her own entertainment.

One day she really will be that middle aged woman who people think it’s ok to deride publicly. Maybe she won’t find it so funny then.
