Are we all going to sidestep the fact that 'gold digger' Meghan was paying for everything.
'we don't have money for her'

She was paying for heaters, lights and sofas. You name it.
All the while we are being fed that she is a 'gold digger' who has come into a privileged family.

I mean he was just astounded that sometimes you have to pay for your own things it's not like he was scrabbling down the old couches for change.

HoppingPavlova · 13/01/2023 09:40

Although I did read somewhere that William/Kate’s kids bedrooms were furnished from Ikea, so maybe it’s become the preferred brand for royal residences 🤣.

Mrsjayy · 13/01/2023 09:41

I wonder if IKEA has the royal stamp dodah 😄

MarshaMelrose · 13/01/2023 09:41

If you can travel first class back and forth between Canada and the UK, surely you can easily afford a settee?

Dreamstate · 13/01/2023 09:43

This is why rich people stay rich. Just because they have millions doesn't mean they just buy full price every time. If an ex display sofa is just as good a new why pay full price.

People use credit cards because of the extra protections they get and if they could use American express then collect airmiles.

He probably has most of his inheritance earning him money in various investments and funds.

Just have to be savvy and make your money work hard for you.

....and get your girlfriend to pay your way.

Mrsjayy · 13/01/2023 09:45

Yeah she didn't use her CC because she was skint .

My understanding was that some other minor royals had been turned out of their enormous apartment in Kensington palace and it was being renovated for Harry and Meghan. But that they changed their minds for various reasons and decided to move to Windsor. So Nott Cott was very much temporary. My understanding was William and Catherine lived in Nott Cott for a couple of years after they fist married or were there with George? have I got this all completely wrong?

No, you have got it completely right.

HaroldandWilly · 13/01/2023 09:49

I don't believe a single world that comes out of Harry's mouth. I do think he's swindled us all, including Meghan, into thinking he was the fun, down to earth Prince he clearly isn't. If it is true, he was quite happy to admit he sat back and let her buy things in her credit card when he has an inheritance worth millions.

ghjklo · 13/01/2023 09:51

didn't he donate 2m from the book profits to charities? that doesn't sound like the actions of a tightwad.

Hee was working in an 'ideal, quiet, rural' life while he was helicopter ambulance, wasn't he?

He also raised over 1M for Sentebale, among other donations.

I would be fuming if I was sofa.com, or IKEA for that matter.

They are decent companies who furnish millions of people ‘s homes worldwide. H&M talk about them as if it was the equivalent of going to the tip and finding a cardboard box to sit on.
A two bedroom detached house in central London with extensive private gardens, free. ( one that was good enough for the heir to the throne btw). Colour me outraged.

They were also renting a ‘cottage’ at Soho Farmhouse on the Great Tew complex.

Along with moving a tennis court a few centimetres ?

Tbf, I think Harry did a service to everyone in his family. Showing they don't actually live as luxurious as the media makes out?

Its all PR?

Oh do give over.

IKEA is known as the cheap place to go. That is their 'raison d'être'.
If anything, now that people know princes go there, and not have everything custom made, they will enjoy even more sales.

Na I'd be quietly delighted at the publicity and it being regarded as the brand of the people.

The New York Times ran an article a few years back saying 1 in 10 Europeans were conceived on an IKEA bed.

So I think my real question here is was Archie?

Yes, I’ve heard that this is Roman Abramovich’s secret. And the sultan of Brunei.

Anyway OP I was expecting to see copies of Meghan’s credit card statements. Followed by acres of criticisms. Buys expensive clothes: spoiled and out of touch! Buys cheap clothes: doesn’t care about the planet! Shops at Waitrose: entitled and doesn’t care about poor people! Shops at Lidl: doesn’t care about farmers and food miles! Etc etc

Yes.

My thoughts were that he was trying to get ahold of his dad, so he can have access to his money.

In everything that is said, to me it seems like he had no access to his inheritance.

It'll be because his inheritance is tied up in investments, not sitting in a Natwest current account...

Or perhaps they were trying to stop him from snorting the lot up his nose?

Ratherubbish · 13/01/2023 10:04

It was temporary accomodation so the sofa was only going to be used for a short time. No point waiting for weeks for delivery so got an ex-display. Pay by credit card, no need to ask anyone, probably also easiest?

If I were head of marketing for either company I'd have advertising featuring fit for a prince all over it, plastered everywhere before the ink had dried on the book print.

WinnieFosterReads · 13/01/2023 10:06

If M posted on here, she'd be told her partner was financially abusive. Harry inherited millions from his mum and his great-gran (the Queen Mother) but wouldn't pay for furniture or soft furnishings to make it feel like 'their' home rather than his bachelor pad.
I can see why Meghan wanted to pay for stuff (since they're a couple and she's also a millionaire) but Harry allowing her to pay for it is shocking.
