Harry admits to bullying?

I actually really like Will, Kate and Meghan. I am not a massive fan of Harry though. However, this part of Spare makes me feel pretty uneasy. I had not made up my mind on whether I believed the bullying allegations, but I think this proves them true (at least to me.)

Obviously, this is Harry's version of events, and naturally there is two other sides here (the staff + William's side.)

Harry admits to bullying?

Just to point out that there have been multiple posts on MN lamenting younger adults in the workplace who cry at any negative feedback about their work however gentle it is. I have come across this too in the workplace.
Someone crying does not automatically mean they have been wronged.

@BradfordGirl but if you consider the context of this, you will know that they cried because it was a highly pressured and negative work culture. Nerves were shattering, people were sniping (who?) there was no such thing as constructive criticism...

Wouldn't you have though that Meghan with all her self declared sensitive, caring, warm Californian easygoing persona (yeah right 😕) would have said, right people, take a break, let's work this out, we have your backs as any good leader would do? Ironically, they recently presented a programme on leadership. Contemporary leadership is about empathy, leading by example, serving and inspiring staff not making life impossible. It's clear Meghan and harry love to dish it out but can't take even a hint of perfectly consecutive criticism themselves. What sad losers.

On an unrelated note, drugs make people unstable, I feel sorry for his kids if he is still consuming recreational drugs.

NatsSundayKitchen · 10/01/2023 19:40

constructive obviously

It must be really difficult to have your heroes exposed for what they are, in his own words as well, never mind eh! if it makes you feel a bit better to call me deranged, feel free!

It’s not me who called you deranged, it was MN’s owner.

But yeah, a Republican with Prince for a hero - you couldn’t be more right. 🤣

LadyVictoriaSponge · 10/01/2023 19:51

Funny how a self proclaimed republican gets so defensive over a Prince……🤔

It’s sounds pretty much how it appeared at the time - staff under-qualified and inexperienced for the job they were required to do - being posh is no qualification for handling vicious media on the scale they were dealing with - stress on all sides, emotions running high - and Meghan made the scapegoat.

They just kept hiring naive, inexperienced Sloanes, when what they really needed was Alastair Campbell.

My general observation is that the quality of advice and staff at the palace is quite low.

Inexperienced? such as

Samantha Cohen - the Queen's assistant private secretary
Sara Latham - previously worked for Barack Obama
Amy Pickerill - former Treasury press officer
Melissa Toubati - previously worked for Robbie Williams

Not quite naive, inexperienced Sloanes, are they?

ComfortablyDazed · 10/01/2023 19:52

@BradfordGirl do you have any idea about the recruitment process for Palace (or Royal Family) staff…..?

LadyVictoriaSponge · 10/01/2023 19:54

Inexperienced? such as

Samantha Cohen - the Queen's assistant private secretary
Sara Latham - previously worked for Barack Obama
Amy Pickerill - former Treasury press officer
Melissa Toubati - previously worked for Robbie Williams

Not quite naive, inexperienced Sloanes, are they?

Exactly, they were hardly on on a YTS!

Yes, highly competent staff who had worked for some very high profile and likely very demanding people.

But they were all 'cryers' intimidated by the paralegal from Suits?

I think he is being open about how he was, isn't he? He has talked about drinking, taking drugs. He was clearly not in a great frame of mind to be asked to go through the tunnel.

Isn't that the point of the book - to be open about it all?

Rather than maintaining the polished facade whilst being a mess behind closed doors.

He believes in lived experience, doesn't he? What matters to him is feeling it. I suppose very rich people don't have to earn money, so they sit around chatting about what something was like and the humour, irony of little people and they unexpected things they do.

I know people like Harry. They can do things hundreds of times, like getting stuck in a traffic jam, but they still behave as when it was the first time it happened to them and they CAN'T believe it. The press behaving....as the press behave... was probably like those traffic jams to him. He just couldn't believe a photographer was pointing a camera at him.

He doesn't seem to get perspective on things.

It wasn't a fake story that the engagement dress cost $70,000, was see through and Charles had paid for it. It was inappropriate and extravagant and a sign of things to come with profligate spending by Meghan. People struggling with bills and poverty didn't take kindly to it, and it's the royal family's job not to rub their privilege in people faces.

purpledalmation · 10/01/2023 20:01

I wonder what he's on., his pupils were so dilated in comparison to Bradby

He also came across as patronising and rude. Thought TB asked good questions and it was clear Harry didn't like them.

He sniffed through the entire thing so marching powder would be my guess.

he doesn’t like being challenged at all.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 10/01/2023 20:07

Harry's a bully. Meghan's a bully. And the royal family colluded to protect them from the consequences of that

Grandmistress991 · 10/01/2023 20:09

So people are shocked that an over- privileged monied Eton educated, young man whose mother was hounded to her death with an emotionally distant father fell apart emotionally.

Miss out the mother and father bit and we have had Cameron and his pig exploits and Bojo just being bojo, and we have 2 elected prime ministers of England. Harry's exploits look tame in comparison.

spanieleyes · 10/01/2023 20:09

The pendulum seems to have swung from "The Royal family are bullies because they haven't protected Harry and Meghan" to " The Royal family are bullies because they protected Harry and Meghan"

That's why Kate William Camilla the kids Edward and Sophie, Andrew are frequently seen in hand me downs. Ann gets a pass.

Oh stop making excuses for him. He can bully workers because his Mum died 25 years ago?? He’s a privileged brat. The only reason he was any power over anyone is because of him family, it’s not like he earned it, and he still abuses it being a nasty bully.

That’s exactly what they are. One palace staffer with no hard media experience and a press officer from the Treasury. But hey Cohen lasted longer with the Sussexes than she did at number 10 where she lasted all of 5 months.

Melissa Toubati was RW’s nanny and she resigned when it was discovered she had no qualifications for the PA role. The role she went on to was.. as a nanny.

The only one who had the chops for the job was Sara Latham.

Simply pointed out that I wasn’t the originator of the the term “deranged”.

Well maybe she’d change her mind if she reads his book and sees him admit to bullying. Bullies deserve criticism.

Maybe it was primal scream therapy, spontaneously triggered in the presence of mystic Meg.
