Tiara-gate unveiled (shameless pun)

The fact that meghan said, and Harry believed, she had spent “hours and hours” with dressmakers getting the original scalloped tiara to match the scallop veil edge shows, IMO, one of two things:

  1. meghan is a wild exaggerator and Harry is stupid. I had a high end dress custom made for my wedding. For this type of thing she would just need to hand over to the extremely experienced professionals. Meghan would have no input to this.
  2. meghan is an enormous control freak who stood over them for hours to make sure it was perfect

Harry trying to paint this unbelievably first world issue as arduous is yet another example of how ludicrously out of touch with reality she is. Poor Meghan, she went with another diamond tiara and hours of her time were wasted. I mean she had to take off time from her busy schedule of borrowing lipglosses and battling Willy’s finger to boss dressmakers around.

there is also an amusing quote somewhere about how Harry reassured Charles Meghan would not be a large cost addition for him as she “makes her own clothes”. Did she borrow her entire character from Snow White? Seal singing, dress making?

Since when has she made her own clothes? I'm curious

Florissant · 07/01/2023 16:18

Marrying in a long white dress and a veil is crass when you are divorced and your ex-husband is still alive.

Well yes, I am also curious about this.

that comment and also the “she’s definitely not after Kate’s fashion connections” (nobody thought she was until Harry opened his mother to deny it) make me think a fashion range is in the overloading pipeline

Are we actually believing Harry’s version of events? I’m not.

I hope that is the wrong way round or no wonder she wasn’t allowed to borrow tiaras.

HA!!! Right you are. I’m too excited by all this insanity to type properly

I think this is showing how, even with extensive tapping and therapy, Harry still has a Kings'-Road-bloke's-eye view of things like lip gloss, hormones, and frocks.

Absolutely

I’ve now read twice that a woman’s disrespect is a “look” something without witnesses is nothing more than a perceived feeling.

diddl · 07/01/2023 16:51

It's all so ridiculous isn't it?

I find it hard to believe that Meghan didn't have a hairdresser who would go to her & they nipped off somewhere with the tiara!
(Or maybe it was just to Nott Cott?)

She was offered the SPencer tiara but turned it down?????

The idea that when they already to do whatever others should just fall in line &
it's actually "memoir worthy" if the don't.

And then the wedding reception, which Charles was paying for, went way over budget, according to Finding Freedom.

TheRedLip · 07/01/2023 16:55

Gawd it must be so stressful having a choice of priceless DIAMOND TIARAS put before you.

I expect Meghan's matching diamond shoes were a tad tight too.

How is that crass? Get over yourself!

LadyTwinkle · 07/01/2023 17:04

I kind of assumed when the Queen said Meghan could borrow the tiara to practice with, that she meant for Meghan to bring her hairdresser to the palace for a practice session and not for her to take the priceless diamond tiara to Super Cuts in her hand bag.

LadyTwinkle · 07/01/2023 17:12

Also it fails to mention why Meghan was ultimately denied the Greville tiara she had wanted to wear, as Anne Kelly's grievance seems to be based around having to arrange security for the Tiara leaving the palace and not which Tiara Meghan had chosen.

diddl · 07/01/2023 17:23

Is that the one that Eugenie wore just 5 months later?

I thought it was because Eugenie had already chosen it for her own wedding?

LadyTwinkle · 07/01/2023 17:29

Had Eugenie had already picked it out then? Was it not one of the tiaras shown to Meghan to choose from? It says an emerald one was shown to her but not that it was specifically the Greville tiara.

LittleBearPad · 07/01/2023 17:31

It’s hardly that surprising that asking to take the tiara out of Buck Palace was a big deal - is it?

He is staggeringly entitled and stupid.

Why couldn’t the hairdresser go to BP with Meghan to practice hair?

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 07/01/2023 17:33

Eugénie was supposed to be married before Meghan, but she agreed to postpone it because M&H were in a hurry and didn’t want to wait their turn. The Queen rewarded her with a’better ‘ tiara.

or so the official account goes ( maybe HM TQ just like her granddaughter more ? She certainly expressed surprise at Meghan being veiled like a virgin bride).

I’m also unsure why she turned the Spencer tiara down after she had personally put in hours and hours of her time into matching the veil (I didn’t know she was working on the veil herself as a seamstress). Maybe it was less expensive or something

OP posts:
diddl · 07/01/2023 17:39

Supposedly Meghan was shown 5 tiaras to choose from.

I would think it unlikely that the one Eugenie had chosen was there.

Possibly Meghan had thought she would be able to choose any she wanted?

MalagaNights · 07/01/2023 17:41

I'm surprised she didn't want to wear the Spencer tiara if offered it.

This would have had huge significance with the links to Diana, and also if she'd spent hours designing the edge of the veil to match it already....

Although I do think the tiara she wore was more beautiful and had a more contemporary edge than the Spencer tiara so I can see that.

MalagaNights · 07/01/2023 17:41

How many tiaras does the queen have?

PicturesOfDogs · 07/01/2023 17:46

So the emerald tiara thing was true after all?

The ghostwriter has clearly asked him about every negative story, and Harry the dimlow seems to have confirmed them one by one
