Tiara-gate unveiled (shameless pun)

The fact that meghan said, and Harry believed, she had spent “hours and hours” with dressmakers getting the original scalloped tiara to match the scallop veil edge shows, IMO, one of two things:

  1. meghan is a wild exaggerator and Harry is stupid. I had a high end dress custom made for my wedding. For this type of thing she would just need to hand over to the extremely experienced professionals. Meghan would have no input to this.
  2. meghan is an enormous control freak who stood over them for hours to make sure it was perfect

Harry trying to paint this unbelievably first world issue as arduous is yet another example of how ludicrously out of touch with reality she is. Poor Meghan, she went with another diamond tiara and hours of her time were wasted. I mean she had to take off time from her busy schedule of borrowing lipglosses and battling Willy’s finger to boss dressmakers around.

there is also an amusing quote somewhere about how Harry reassured Charles Meghan would not be a large cost addition for him as she “makes her own clothes”. Did she borrow her entire character from Snow White? Seal singing, dress making?

The now King was not allowed to marry in a church as a divorcee

The now king was a widower at the time of his second wedding so I doubt this would have been an issue.

Minimalme · 07/01/2023 19:47

I really, really want a tiara...I'd have one that was practical for every day use.

A comfortable band and maybe just three rows of diamonds. Nothing ostentatious.

Poor Meghan having to pretend she wanted to marry into the Royal Family just to to wear a tiara. By Christ that woman has suffered.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 07/01/2023 19:47

Maghans dress was a British designer. I can’t remember whom.

Not allowed by whom?

I married in church as a divorcee in 1995.

It didn’t used to be allowed by the C of E. Princess Anne went to Scotland to remarry as she couldn’t have a church wedding in England. My sister was refused permission to remarry in church in 2001 although I think by then there may have been discretion from some clergy. I was surprised the Archbishop of Canterbury agreed to marry a divorced woman and I don’t think he would have if she hadn’t been marrying a Prince.

So the emerald tiara thing was true after all?

The ghostwriter has clearly asked him about every negative story, and Harry the dimlow seems to have confirmed them one by one

This is what I have been thinking myself, he's actually making it worse for himself. I feel he's been tricked or something tbh Confused

Anyone who in any way disagrees with him and M is the devil and needs to be destroyed

He seems to be completely enamoured of her but not understanding that others might not be.

Harry has elevated Meghan to some kind of divine, other world, Goddess status and expects everyone to worship her as he does because she has deigned to spend her time amongst us mere mortals.

It's weird, this is not a partnership or a love match it is something else entirely, more akin to an obsession.

@CPL593H - honestly, you couldn't make it up! I'm glad it's cheering your husband up, and I hope he makes a good recovery 🤞

Thank you! No, you couldn't make it up (although i think my DH has doubts)

Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy.

@SadOrWickedFairy - reportedly, the Queen thought Harry was "over in love" with Meghan. Interesting turn of phrase.

Andrew P-B though?

Ultimately he is complaining about which diamond tiara his wife was lent for her wedding. Does he really think that will attract any sympathy at all?!

This

Marrying in a long white dress and a veil is crass when you are divorced and your ex-husband is still alive.

??? Tell me this is a joke??!

How many tiaras does the queen have?

50 apparently.

I read that Eugenie had been promised the greville tiara before Megan asked. I don’t understand why she rejected the Spence tiara

Backstreetsbackalrightdadada · 07/01/2023 20:01

What’s the point about the bin? I barely dare ask… or was that a typo?

Maireas · 07/01/2023 20:02

I think 17 tiaras, not 50.

When high on mushrooms Harry thought a bin was talking to him…

He ate magic mushrooms and thought the bin was growing a head.

Maireas · 07/01/2023 20:04

Maybe the bin was saying "not the Vladimir tiara! Look out for dog bowls! "

Ah! God I wish I had the confidence of a tone deaf privileged rich man who complains about tiaras. Oh to have a tiara to complain about!!!

As a person with ‘republican leaning’ tendencies I see reading these royal threads as a pretty odd quirk of mine. The last thing I would normally be doing on a Saturday evening is offering insight into tiara choices!
However after ‘extensive’ research online (Daily Express & Marie Clair 🤣) I can offer the following insight.
Apparently it is normal practice after a royal marriage to ‘loan’ 3 tiaras to the new bride for use in their lifetime. They still remain the property of the monarch, but it is not usual for them to be continually swapped around members of the family.
So if Eugenie had already expressed a wish for the of the Greville it is unlikely this would have been made available to Meghan.
The Spencer tiara may well have been the one Meghan was originally planning to use, but as a Spencer heirloom it is very unlikely to have been regularly available for Megan’s use. In fact there are suggestions that William and Earl Spencer have informally agreed that as Diana’s first direct female descendant the Spencer tiara would be kept available for future use by Princess Charlotte upon her marriage. I can imagine that once Meghan learned of these ‘rules’ and plans she would have been upset/jealous/perceived a personal slight and caused a tiara fuss.

Well, I'm impressed with Angela Kelly.
A man that could take out 25 Taliban reduced to getting the shivers by a single look from that woman. Kudos.

😁😂😅

The now king was a widower at the time of his second wedding so I doubt this would have been an issue.

It was deffo an issue at the time, so much so that the Queen did not attend the civil wedding (only the blessing at the chapel afterwards).

Here’s an article from the time: www.theguardian.com/uk/2005/apr/09/monarchy.markoliver

I expect it would’ve been possible for normie divorcees find a sympathetic vicar in 2005, but Charles was held to a higher standard as the son of the head of the CoE (who would eventually become Defender of the Faith himself).

The historical inconsistency in relation to the origin of the CoE and Henry the 8th didn’t seem to come into it! Looking back that Guardian article now I’m actually somewhat surprised at how much influence on the church has lost since 2005!

LittleBearPad · 07/01/2023 20:12

Apparently Hmm H&M only wanted to get married barefoot in Botswana.
