I'm feeling a bit sorry for Harry

I feel like he needs his mum more than ever. To put an arm round him and say "enough son".

He needs guidance, he's never had maternal guidance. Its well documented that Williams life has been really enhanced by Kates parents. Harry has never had that and i feel sorry for him.

Don't worry! It's fine.
The judgements about race are just so offensive.

ArcaneWireless · 19/05/2023 17:08

Oh 22 why are you asking if someone ‘is ok’ just for using some exclamation marks? It just seems rude, patronising and unnecessary.

To me, exclamation marks are used merely to stress a sentence or opinion. A lot of posters use them in that way. You used 5 question marks in one of your posts - presumably to stress your point. How is that any different?

(Was a wee bit tempted to put another 4 there but that would have been taking the piss… )

Maireas · 19/05/2023 17:19

Oh, really?????????????

Maireas · 19/05/2023 17:22

Sputum · 19/05/2023 08:42

So they were driving twice the speed limit down the FDR at 80 mph, while Harry filmed all the ‘drama’ on his phone

while not wearing seatbelts! That alone absolute beggars belief.

I know. I could not believe they didn't have seat belts on. Just madness.

jeffgoldblum · 19/05/2023 17:33

What!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maireas · 19/05/2023 17:34

I know!!!!!!!!???!!!!!!!!!????

jeffgoldblum · 19/05/2023 17:35

I'm shocked 😮!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really though??????????????????

jeffgoldblum · 19/05/2023 17:38

Joking aside, does anyone remember those awful tv adverts about always buckling up in the back?
They traumatised me! , they weren't shy about showing stuff then we're they?

Maireas · 19/05/2023 17:40

Clunk, clink - every trip.
Jimmy Savile, no less.....

jeffgoldblum · 19/05/2023 17:42

@Maireas , yep but I'm thinking about the one were the backseat passenger hits the front seat ( a lot of lift up seats then) and the driver hits the windscreen ( or goes through it! ) 😱

ArcaneWireless · 19/05/2023 17:45

i think I remember that. Nothing as bloody traumatising sometimes as a public service ad. (Lonely water anyone?)

The more recent ‘Julie knew her killer’ was awful.

Which is why it is unbelievable that after what happened with his mam, there was a pic of him without the seatbelt on.

jeffgoldblum · 19/05/2023 17:48

I know ! , oh don't forget Charlie says! , showed the kids they couldn't get over it!
And the delightful fireworks videos, still at least the shock value worked on us! 🤣

Maireas · 19/05/2023 17:50

True, some of those public service adverts were just terrifying. Even the ones without Jimmy Savile.
Also, when Harry and Meghan emerged from the Hertz van rental place there was an absolute blizzard of photographers' flashbulbs which they allowed and smiled through. So I'm guessing his photographers' flashbulb fear has gone.

jeffgoldblum · 19/05/2023 17:56

Yep!

To be fair if Harry’s team were trying to evade paparazzi then I think it’s quite possible that there was some dangerous driving in order to do so. It’s not right but it’s understandable.

Why is it understandable? I get it that it's annoying being photographed when you don't want to, but this is a couple who are very well versed in courting publicity when they want it. The paps couldn't have got any decent photos when they were in the car behind darkened windows, so the best they could have hoped for was a few uninteresting photos as they got out of the car when they arrived at their destination. I know they didn't want the paps to know where they were staying, but surely they're well used to dealing with that problem and, again, could make it pretty non-newsworthy by just staying at a hotel that is used to dealing with well-known people.

So on the one hand, you have the risk that the paps will get a few pretty bog-standard photos which really aren't much different from hundreds of others. On the other hand, you have the risk of people being seriously injured or killed. I really struggle to understand how anyone can decide that the second option is preferable to the first.

hopelessbuthopeful · 19/05/2023 18:12

Some of the posters on here mentioning no names are so patronising and dismissive. Don't judge someone until you walk in their shoes.

TrashyPanda · 19/05/2023 18:15

I remember the ad that had a hammer smashing into a peach.
that was really hard hitting

in 1970, a friend of mine was in a car crash, and went through the windscreen. She had extensive injuries, and was in a coma for weeks.

I was only 8 and remember how horrified all the parents were, how they all went out and got seatbelts fitted to their cars (they didn’t come as standard then) and they insisted we wore them.

quite why Harry doesn’t always wear a seatbelt defeats me.

jeffgoldblum · 19/05/2023 18:19

Yes @TrashyPanda , I was a child in the 70s , a lot of poor people went through windscreens, possibly why the adverts were done, it did instill the need for seatbelts.

Maireas · 19/05/2023 18:35

I know what you mean, @SnowlayRoundabout , because a couple of minutes earlier they'd been happy to pose for photographers - why would paps want a picture immediately after that? Couldn't be any better than the ones at the venue. Makes no sense.

TrashyPanda · 19/05/2023 18:35

my friend was left scarred for life.
by some miracle, neither of her eyes were affected.

it was a short, sharp lesson in safety that none of us ever forgot.

Maireas · 19/05/2023 18:39

Horrific, @TrashyPanda . We forget how seatbelts save lives.

Sugarfree23 · 19/05/2023 20:31

Seat belts and later kids seats have been a huge game changer in road safety.
We do forget how far safety stuff has come. Seat belts, airbags, side impact bars, kids carseats have come a long long way in the last 20 years too.

Maireas · 19/05/2023 20:50

Remember Diana leaving hospital with baby William, just in her arms, in the back of the Daimler!

Sunscummailfail · 19/05/2023 21:45

And cycle helmets. Life saving.

ssd · 19/05/2023 22:03
