I cannot say how they felt. I wouldn’t like to be hounded by press so I have sympathy for that.
I wonder if we will get to see all the footage. That in itself would show quite how near catastrophic it got.
But if I were frightened and being chased for two hours, possibly at speed, then my seatbelt would most certainly be on. Sympathy waning.
Their publicist popping out a little carefully worded statement to highlight the connection with Diana’s hounding? Sympathy there but why when a seatbelt would have saved her life does he think it a good idea to go without? Sympathy turning.
Their publicist popping out a little emotive statement saying no one had been in touch from the RF? Sympathy lost.
This for me is the modern day version of the boy who cried Wolf. It screams flat out publicity courting, stirring the press they say they hate (but unfortunately desperately need) and of course trying to highlight the need for the security they chose to leave behind. I don’t know if they can’t find, or won’t pay for, the top level of security but it apparently went very wrong the other day, so something is lacking.
In an ideal world, the paparazzi, press and those who make their life unhappy should ignore them.
The thing is, I don’t think that would suit them either.
