The royal family

Meghan 'offended' for telling Kate she had 'baby brain'

Well, the Daily Fail have got their hands on a Spanish copy of the ''memoir'', so there is going to be shrapnel flying about from now until kingdom come.

One of these ''revelations'' is that Meghan made a joke about Kate having ''baby brain hormones'' a month after having Louis, which upset Kate, which in turn then upset Meghan.

Can you imagine the Oprah-style feeding frenzy had this been reversed - Kate telling Meghan that she had baby brain and hormones, which would have perfectly tapped into the villainous ice queen depiction that H&M are flogging right now?

Harry is soap operatising the royal family in the most sensational and tabloid dripfeed way possible (calling his brother his 'archnemesis'.

He is shockingly narcissistic, if he thinks this is not also going to also blow up on him and Meghan. The hypocrisy and whole thing is a shit show.

This is a non story. The kind of everyday upset in a family that we all move on from.

paintitallover · 05/01/2023 14:20

I swear to god the entire family, both ends, must have created this bullshit drama in order to drive us all mad. Frankly I do think the media were racist towards MM. I also think the royal family have far too much of our money not to be able to demonstrate an adult approach about sorting out their piffling squabbles.

LivelyBlake · 05/01/2023 14:27

it’s Harry, not the RF, who’s being verbally incontinent. The other RF members haven’t said a word and are behaving like any adult would do.

rarge · 05/01/2023 14:31

Bugger off with your misogyny.

Its just as pathetic as people being told they’re a racist if what they’ve said isn’t pro Meghan.

  1. How is PP misogynistic for defending a woman?
  1. Some people are racist towards Meghan. Even if it's one in ten, that's still several million people. It's impossible to escape when you're that famous, there will be some. Danny Baker springs to mind but there will be less famous people in daily Mail comments, and others who are more discreet.

As I have no idea what the preceding conversation was or the tone it was said in I have no way of knowing if the comment was respectful, fun, joking, aggressive or well meaning. It could be all these or none.

ILike2ProveItProveIt · 05/01/2023 14:32

I'm loving Harry's jibe at his brothers hair loss

He said that his brother's baldness was 'alarming' and 'advanced than mine' and said his resemblance their their mother had 'faded'.

Lol!!!!!!! This is all comedy gold. And the whole Willy Harold things, I mean really? It's like a slapstick comedy version of The Crown. Reading the excerpts should lighten up this gloomy, rainy post Christmas month.

There’s actually a still from that film on the internet . Classy.

I can’t get het up about that one. It was just acting and nothing was shown so very PG.

However, the comment about baby brain was spectacularly rude, especially Meghan being childless at the time herself. Harry really doesn’t seem to get this comment is damaging to his wife and gives credence to the narrative that his wife is a difficult character.

The claims on Oprah that Meghan was the injured party and it was Meghan, who was wronged. However, Catherine is most definitely vindicated here. My take is that both women cried. Meghan was upset at being told off I imagine.

Nobody's going to need to read the book after all this.

I never intend to. Much prefer this type of review

Nocutenamesleft · 05/01/2023 14:33

Can someone explain why the Spanish book is different?!?

You had me at Spanish. You're telling me The Sun has someone with the language skills to do the translation!

I'm joking of course - before anyone says anything about translators.

Indeed, all the comments here are based on the British media's rapid spin and selections from a Spanish translation. The Guardian claim to have obtained an early copy.

The same British media who slavishly report all the PR spin from the palaces, telling us what saintly royals we have in the core Firm.

I wouldn't give a second thought to it unless I'd read the book.

Do you think an adult approach is the due and have even more dirty linen washed in public ? Or print newspaper rebuttals of the allegations and give them the opportunity to hit back ad infinitum? Or just say nothing and hope they go away.

purpledalmation · 05/01/2023 14:36

Oh yes because that's what they are doing

Of course it is for you. Because it shows Harry in a bad light.Hmm Am I the only one who scrolls down a thread looking at posters names and plays a 'Guess what their response will be' game?

I'll wait for you to link threads where you've criticised male actors for acting. But I won't hold my breath. That difference - where you criticise a woman for acting but not a man - that's your misogyny showing.
And M's job makes no difference to what she said to K at a dress fitting years later.

KloppsTeeth · 05/01/2023 14:39

Whilst all of this is going on, what is the government doing this week that they can bury under this news? 👀

PicturesOfDogs · 05/01/2023 14:39

Can you imagine the following?

‘No-ones asked me if I’m okay’

’Stop being dramatic - It’s just your hormones talking’

bakalava · 05/01/2023 14:41

I wonder if Kate's nanny leaked that? It is okay for a mum to joke about it to another mum she knows well but a geriatric second timer bride saying it to a mum of three who is the same age as her sounds catty and insecure af. It does not surprise me in the least. Meghan does see herself as being much, much younger than she is, rather than an older mum which is where the "five young mums" delusional comment came from.

bakalava · 05/01/2023 14:42

As for her feminist credentials, no, she does not know what a woman is so is therefore like no feminist I respect.

Naunet · 05/01/2023 14:44

They’re all a bunch of privileged spoilt brats, this is the definition of first world problems!
Got me wondering the other day, why on earth do royal families even exist, all across the world? Is it in human nature to need to put someone on a pedestal? Have we now replaced them with celebrities so no longer need royals? Just such a weird concept when you think about it.

Why was it less acceptable just because Meghan is divorced and had a child while over 35?

paintitallover · 05/01/2023 14:47

@purpledalmation I think they're both to blame with their politics and public spilling, and they should get together and sort it out. I think they lack the interpersonal skills between them to do it, starting with their father. I think they ALL overestimate how much the UK public gives a fuck. Finally, I'm damn certain that they have completely forgotten the actual state this country is in, and what counts as real for most people.

Twizbe · 05/01/2023 13:33

Yes and no. Anne and Edward are spares too. They've shown how you can make a role for yourself, especially Anne.

It isn't as if he's in a unique position. Every second- and subsequent born child in the Royal family and the entire gentry/aristocracy (and I dare say among most landowners including farmers) since time immemorial has had to play second fiddle to the heir. It happens, and he is not the only one by a long way.

NottanOtter · 05/01/2023 14:49

I'm really starting to feel for the poor ghost writer. Imagine how much of this he had to sit through and didn't put in the final book...

Squabbledee · 05/01/2023 14:51

I'm gobsmacked that this book seems to be a million times worse than I could ever have imagined it to be. How will M&H move forward from this? Who will want to get involved with them? It's like a fireworks show of shite.
