Meghan 'offended' for telling Kate she had 'baby brain'

Well, the Daily Fail have got their hands on a Spanish copy of the ''memoir'', so there is going to be shrapnel flying about from now until kingdom come.

One of these ''revelations'' is that Meghan made a joke about Kate having ''baby brain hormones'' a month after having Louis, which upset Kate, which in turn then upset Meghan.

Can you imagine the Oprah-style feeding frenzy had this been reversed - Kate telling Meghan that she had baby brain and hormones, which would have perfectly tapped into the villainous ice queen depiction that H&M are flogging right now?

Harry is soap operatising the royal family in the most sensational and tabloid dripfeed way possible (calling his brother his 'archnemesis'.

He is shockingly narcissistic, if he thinks this is not also going to also blow up on him and Meghan. The hypocrisy and whole thing is a shit show.

For a self proclaimed feminist that's a pretty sexist remark from Meghan no?

Yep. She put out a pointed statement about her sister having three children by three different men, too. She's not a feminist.

MotherofKitties · 05/01/2023 13:48

@Ostryga I suspect probably not. Kate comes from a family with multiple siblings and whilst she has undoubtably taken the limelight they seem very close and continually supportive of each other. Equally William has grown up in a very dysfunctional family and will be keen to not repeat the same mistakes that were made with him and Harry so I think Kate and Williams kids will grown up well adjusted and supportive of each other.

And let's face it, after the last two years and the bombs Harry has been dropping Kate and William will be wanting to do everything they possibly can to ensure Charlotte and Louis don't grow up feeling like the 'spare' and have this happen all over again.

If true, Meghan commenting on Kate's hormones giving her baby brain was rude and not appropriate, even if said in jest and especially if they're not very close. I'd hope that as she's now a mother herself she now knows better than to comment on a new mothers hormones.

But it depends on how it is said. Context and tone of voice is key.

For instance, if I forgot where my keys are shortly after giving birth, and someone said in a nice way "don't worry, you must still have baby brain", I wouldn't mind.

If I gave my opinion on a political matter shortly after giving birth and someone remarked "oh my god, that's ridiculous, you must still have baby brain", I would be offended.

Looking back at what Meghan said on Oprah on this is illuminating, given I presume we have to take Harry’s account as the closest to the truth we have yet had. Meghan denied she had made Kate cry and said:

The reverse happened…it made me cry and it really hurt my feelings. It was a really hard week of the wedding and she was upset about something but she owned it and she apologised

So, the “something” that Kate was upset about was actually Meghan being rude to her. And when Kate called her on that, Meghan declared her feelings were hurt and she cried. And then told the world via Oprah that it was Kate who was the baddie here (and that the Palace were lying in not stopping the press stories that Meghan had made Kate cry, nonetheless!).

i wonder if they have any idea how bad this explanation makes Meghan look?

This again! Honestly I think Harry is doing Charlotte and Louis a favour - they are the spares. He’s just treading through the shit stuff now for them. It’s going to be just as bad, if not worse when they grow up. Good on him!

Well I imagine Kate won't be going out of her way to tell Charlotte she's just a spare, and Louis is worse case collateral. And hopefully they'll pick more emotionally healthy life partners if they choose to settle down.

StormzyinaTCup · 05/01/2023 13:56

He is certainly no Prince Charming and is actually looking more like a court jester at the moment (maybe the ball juggling was him warming up). How embarrassing for them both.

Lady CC has come out with a wooper about Meghan, after leaving deal or no deal, guess what self empowering acting job was nexted, giving a guy a blowjob in a car, think it was the series 90210. Class.

There’s actually a still from that film on the internet . Classy.

Serenster · 05/01/2023 13:57

It’s a shame Meghan didn’t cover “hormonal” (and therefore irrational) in her series of podcasts about the labels that hold women back, really. It might have been an educational experience for her.

Cariadz · 05/01/2023 14:04

Seemingly Meghan was told she didn’t know Kate well enough to mention her hormones and that she was told- the RF don’t speak to each other like this. It’s not mentioned who reprimanded her but it was probably Kate initially, followed up by some guidance from the palace.

I can’t believe she sat there on Oprah’s sofa and very clearly made all of it out to be Kates fault. What a nasty piece of work she is.

diddl · 05/01/2023 14:04

So Meghan upset someone she barely knew, but the upshot was that she herself ended up more upset?

And that is supposed to make us think better of Meghan than Kate in this scenario?

WinnieFosterReads · 05/01/2023 14:05

Why would they include this story when it paints M as anti-feminist, lacking in empathy and as a liar in the Oprah interview? Is H deliberately trying to brief against M or is it like The Cut interview all over again - where they signed off something where they missed the nuance?

Yep. Also the burger add as well as the up against the wall sconce from Suits.

I think in this instance he really believes people will think, is that all she said, that Kates a right touchy piece of work. 🙈

WinnieFosterReads · 05/01/2023 14:07

I don't understand why posters are being bitchy about M's job. She was an actress. Some roles are better than others. Stop being misogynists because I can guarantee you haven't made any posts about that time Brad Pitt made out in a car or when Daniel Craig snogged someone. Give it a rest fgs.

I think they're narcissistic enough to believe the public believes anything they say frankly. Either that or just plain thick. Neither a good look.

You had me at Spanish. You're telling me The Sun has someone with the language skills to do the translation!

I'm joking of course - before anyone says anything about translators.

Also, interestingly, if neither Meghan nor Harry think that belittling another person (possibly in a public setting) is something to be concerned about, how does that make them look in the context of the claims they treated their staff in exactly the same way?

Hmm, I guess that makes sense. He's playing to a male audience and to an US one that thinks English people are uptight about their emotions. It will be interesting to see US 'feminists' tie themselves in knots to explain how calling a woman hormonal is actually fine because weddings/culture/hand wavy 'reasons'.

I completely agree with this. Trying to make a living as a jobbing actress in Hollywood must be soul destroying. Meghan showed great tenacity in building her career to the point she did.

ReneBumsWombats · 05/01/2023 14:11

Nobody's going to need to read the book after all this.

Bugger off with your misogyny.

Its just as pathetic as people being told they’re a racist if what they’ve said isn’t pro Meghan.

goldismything · 05/01/2023 14:15

Thought she was great in suits.

Still think she's a liar though snd calling a woman she hardly knows 'baby brain!' Is just being a bitch.

OMG That is so rude! But it also explains the fallout over the tights. Meghan herself admitted "kate was upset about something" and that damn well explains it! Wow! Thats such a horrible thing to say to someone, let alone someone you probably don't actually know very well

If someone had said that to me, I would have ripped them to shreds as well

Yeah I can only imagine the nasty, passive aggressive tone she used

Tenacity?! She didn’t have a real job till she was thirty! She managed deal or no deal for a few months, and was supported by her Dad then ex husband, how is that admirable? Most people couldn’t be an extra for ten years and make no money. She lived off men then dumped them for someone richer when she finally was a somewhat success.

TollgateDebs · 05/01/2023 14:20

Don't you love a soap opera and one in which the main characters are desperate for money, glory and power, which sounds like Dynasty doesn't it! I feel sorry for HaM's children and them reading this crap in years to come. What 'was' is not the issue now but raising the past will impact on their futures and perhaps not in the way they would have wished. Makes a change reading about a dysfunctional family rather than a dysfunctional government I suppose!
