The royal family

Meghan 'offended' for telling Kate she had 'baby brain'

Well, the Daily Fail have got their hands on a Spanish copy of the ''memoir'', so there is going to be shrapnel flying about from now until kingdom come.

One of these ''revelations'' is that Meghan made a joke about Kate having ''baby brain hormones'' a month after having Louis, which upset Kate, which in turn then upset Meghan.

Can you imagine the Oprah-style feeding frenzy had this been reversed - Kate telling Meghan that she had baby brain and hormones, which would have perfectly tapped into the villainous ice queen depiction that H&M are flogging right now?

Harry is soap operatising the royal family in the most sensational and tabloid dripfeed way possible (calling his brother his 'archnemesis'.

He is shockingly narcissistic, if he thinks this is not also going to also blow up on him and Meghan. The hypocrisy and whole thing is a shit show.

I don't see how it could be respectful but it could clearly have been a joke. However, if I make a joke like that and it upsets someone, I apologise. I don't make out like it's their fault. I don't think being offended by that comment is particularly unreasonable of Kate, so if I were Meghan I'd have thought "shit, didn't mean to upset her! I hope she accepts my apology."

It was a dig pure and simple It was saying "you are wrong and it must be because...baby brain". It would be like someone saying to someone else oh you must have menopause brain, oh you must have cancer brain, oh you must have PMT brain. It is not acceptable in whatever tone you take. It is misogynistic and against all that she states in her podcasts.

Bloody hell. Kate was either heavily pregnant or had just given birth and her future SIL weaponised that against her. No wonder Kate was in tears.

Yet Kate still took Meghan flowers when Meghan objected to being pulled up on her comment.

Am baffled why Harry would include a description of his wife being such a complete bitch in his book.

Me too.

bakalava · 05/01/2023 16:03

That was probably her on a nice day.

Dreamstate · 05/01/2023 16:05

I know plenty of people irl who've said something similar when they were pregnant or after they had children. You can find it on this site where people have started threads or someone has put it in a comment that maybe its your hormones affecting your mood that caused you to do x.

I really cannot get bothered over what she said when I've seen it said or words similar to that said irl or on here. Especially since its been said that hormones do effect your brain etc.

Bloody hell, feels like we have to walk on eggshells on everything that is said now a days that might upset someone. Sometimes its just a joke or light hearted quip. Fml if I was surrounded by people who couldn't say little things without it being seen will malice I would want to get off the world.

ajandjjmum · 05/01/2023 16:06

The stories in this book are ridiculous - I've yet to read anything that doesn't put Harry in a bad light. Are we sure it's genuine copies being reviewed, and not a professionally designed spoof?

ChicCroissant · 05/01/2023 16:07

So Harry had a therapist but Meghan wasn't allowed to access any help when she needed it? I know that Harry has made it worse for himself when he's spoken out before, but does he really not realise how batshit this looks?

WisteriaLodge · 05/01/2023 16:08

I don't see how it could be respectful but it could clearly have been a joke.

It was a nasty spiteful dig from a woman who's been in the family for 5 minutes, in fact it doesn't matter how long you've been in the family, it should have never have been said. it actually makes it worse when your brothers girlfriend of 5 minutes says this, I'd be raging .

MoirasSaggyBundles · 05/01/2023 16:09

Historically, all second sons of any landed gentry types have always been 'spares', it is what you make of it (though utterly disgusting of Charles, as the father, to use that word).

Is there any independent evidence that Charles said this about Harry (whom Charles has referred to as his Darling Boy on R4)? Harry would have had to have heard this via hearsay. So who told him? And what possible motive could they have had to impart something so hurtful to Harry?

JoyPeaceSleep · 05/01/2023 16:10

So the whole who made who cry thing was borne out of Meghan being upset that she had upset Kate. The other person does not get to be hurt, or a victim. Only the narcissist gets to be the victim. If the narc does something that hurts you and you have a reaction to that, you're the villain for trying to shame them, trying to make them look bad.

And yet it doesn't work both ways - for instance, when someone might clumsily say something unthoughtful about a baby's colouring.

Yep. Classic narc DARVO

JoyPeaceSleep · 05/01/2023 16:12

And Kate took Meghan flowers!!! wow.

on Oprah, Meghan said that Kate ''owned'' what she had done. She ''owned'' getting upset.

Wow, the delusion is just so far off the scale Shock

JoyPeaceSleep · 05/01/2023 16:13

@MoirasSaggyBundles yes, CLASSIC Darvo

Or maybe its a timing thing, the time when Meghan was denied to when he got a therapist. He doesn't say nor have I seen anywhere that he had a therapist all the time throughout the same time Meghan claims she wasn't allowed access.

Maybe just maybe he got one well after that happened, who knows really. But you cannot say for certain he had one whilst she was saying she couldn't access one

WisteriaLodge · 05/01/2023 16:15

(though utterly disgusting of Charles, as the father, to use that word).

Diana used the phrase frequently....

If a woman says it about herself it's fine.

Similarly, as with any comment, if it upsets someone and they tell you you've upset them, you apologise and own the upset you've caused.

CoffeeBoy · 05/01/2023 16:20

just a few thoughts.

firstly it’s all a bit of a storm in a teacup.

secondly I’m amazed that as a self proclaimed feminist Meghan said this and I’m not surprised Kate was pissed off. I bloody hate dh accusing me of being hormonal, having pmt etc when I’m just cross and this smacks of the same thing of gaslighting someone/minimising their feelings.

Thirdly, Meghan said in the Oprah interview when asked about the “who made who cry” incident (and apparently this is it) that Kate made her cry but owned it and said sorry. Well that certainly seems to be an opposing view to what they are now saying. Because if Meghan made a stupid comment to Kate which upset Kate and Kate was cross about it, I can accept that Kates reaction maybe made Meghan cry. But it’s a weird spin to put on it to say “Kate made me cry”. Because surely from Kate’s point of view Meghan made Kate cry and Meghan started it.

blimey, it’s all a bit Year Nine playground level!

WeWereInParis · 05/01/2023 16:22

Before he met Meghan Harry said that he'd seen a therapist, after being encouraged to by William I think. But yes, he may not have had one at that specific time.

For a self proclaimed feminist that's a pretty sexist remark from Meghan no?

Yes, and she wasn't even married to Harry at the time . It was an incredibly rude thing to say.

JustMerkinYourChain · 05/01/2023 16:24

supernova1234 · 05/01/2023 13:49

But it depends on how it is said. Context and tone of voice is key.

For instance, if I forgot where my keys are shortly after giving birth, and someone said in a nice way "don't worry, you must still have baby brain", I wouldn't mind.

If I gave my opinion on a political matter shortly after giving birth and someone remarked "oh my god, that's ridiculous, you must still have baby brain", I would be offended.

This. It’s still only half of the story, I don’t mean half because it’s just their side, but bits missing in the telling of their half. Maybe there’s more in the book. But without the context of when it was said, who was there and who told Meghan ‘she wasn’t close enough to Kate to say that’ it’s just impossible to have much of an opinion.

JustMerkinYourChain · 05/01/2023 16:25

Also, I’d hope Meghan read through this bit first, imagine your husband sharing the details of his male perception of a row with your SIL to millions. I’m sure she must have.

bakalava · 05/01/2023 16:25

The half of the story which shows MM up badly. Do you think Kate's half would paint her as a saint?

I don't understand why posters are being bitchy about M's job. She was an actress. Some roles are better than others. Stop being misogynists because I can guarantee you haven't made any posts about that time Brad Pitt made out in a car or when Daniel Craig snogged someone. Give it a rest fgs.

They aren't in the royal family either.

Rolypops · 05/01/2023 16:40

Christ this is all so bloody undignified. Did properly laugh at a previous poster saying Kate should have pushed her into a dog bowl too though 😅.
