Meghan 'offended' for telling Kate she had 'baby brain'

Well, the Daily Fail have got their hands on a Spanish copy of the ''memoir'', so there is going to be shrapnel flying about from now until kingdom come.

One of these ''revelations'' is that Meghan made a joke about Kate having ''baby brain hormones'' a month after having Louis, which upset Kate, which in turn then upset Meghan.

Can you imagine the Oprah-style feeding frenzy had this been reversed - Kate telling Meghan that she had baby brain and hormones, which would have perfectly tapped into the villainous ice queen depiction that H&M are flogging right now?

Harry is soap operatising the royal family in the most sensational and tabloid dripfeed way possible (calling his brother his 'archnemesis'.

He is shockingly narcissistic, if he thinks this is not also going to also blow up on him and Meghan. The hypocrisy and whole thing is a shit show.

Actually thinking about it, I've made the "baby brain" comment in a jokey way about myself, but I probably wouldn't say it to anyone else. In that situation (someone who has just given birth forgetting something) I'd probably say something like, "No worries, you've got a lot on your plate at the moment" or something like that.

Exactly. I wouldn't say it about someone else, especially someone who I didn't know that well and wasn't close to.

I also think it sounds silly coming from a woman who hadn't had children at that point. I wonder if it would have come across differently if Meghan herself had had children, because the comment could have been received in the context of her relating it to her own experience.

What's so funny?

CuddlesPleaseTiddles · 05/01/2023 20:50

Omg how much more boring can these people get? Maybe the only good thing that's coming out of this soap opera is finally the public will realise how empty they are, now that the veil of mystery is lifted. Actually, soap operas are more interesting usually, this is more like an even stupider version of big brother or made in Chelsea..

or because someone you’re not very close to said it in a patronising manner?

I am close to my mother and her always attributing my perfectly justified annoyances with her to “hormones” used to make me rage!

I don’t think Meghan is particularly intelligent either. Everything will come out in the wash!

PipinwasAuntieMabelsdog · 05/01/2023 21:04

@Coucous Kate's not thick, she went to St A's which is a heavy workload and required excellent entry grades in the year William applied as applications were insanely high (DH was PhDing there at the time) She has A at level maths and 11 GCSEs, got a good 2:1 with a fair amount of socialising... Meghan tries to give the impression of being extremely profound and intelligent through verbose and flowery language which is something my insecure and less capable UG students tend to do. Meghan attended a good University too, with IR and drama majors. She did not pass her exams for a UN placement and drama is not very taxing, so I doubt she was intimidating to Kate on the basis of brains...

Dente · 05/01/2023 21:06

Thats ridiculous. Hormones do affect mood/brain.

Wiluli · 05/01/2023 21:06

So telling someone they have baby’s brain is a offence but getting hit by an adult brother is ok ? That’s what I’m getting from MN today 🙄

IcedPurple · 05/01/2023 21:08

The only reason she was offended is because she saw Meghan as a rival rather than family AND possibly felt intimidated by her intelligence.

Any woman compatible with the notoriously dim Harry is unlikely to intimidate anyone with their 'intelligence'.

Pretty much yes.

'Kate js a white woman personified'

I hope this hateful nonsense gets reported for the lazy mysogynistic racist comment it it. I can't be arsed to scroll down and identify the poster. You know who you are delete it yourself

Probably one of the people always going on about how everyone else on MN is racist 🙄

Kate has talked publicly about hyperemesis including here: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-51511596 It has been widely covered

Did KM really have it? The way she describes it here is really odd.

DewinDwl · 05/01/2023 21:21

Harry said Kate then said back: ‘We are not close enough for you to talk about my hormones'.
😲 that's really cutting abrasive

I agree. Her words in that article make no sense. Maybe it was edited wrong by someone with no knowledge of the condition? I had hyperemesis and it's not something that you can control with meditation or manage with breathing FFS... also not sure where hypnobirthing comes in. Yes it's odd.

She was hospitalised with it in at least one of her pregnancies.

theworldhas · 05/01/2023 21:32

Americans in general are just more outspoken and “familiar”. I’m sure the remark was meant in a friendly manner and I agree that the aggressive finger from William (her future brother in law - if that’s what happened) seems a WAY over the top reaction.

His name isn't Harold.

You are promoting someone else's opinion on a translation of a sentence out of context as if it were fact.

Not sure this places you well on the "shalllow" stakes.

His real name is Henry. Not really relevant but interesting. Kind of.

I agree, this stands out to me a lot more than the "she said, I said" between KM & MM. It seems that an initially nice occasion turned nasty after an ambiguous / insensitive remark. In MM's place I would have felt quite intimidated - kudos to her for standing up for herself.

She was hospitalised and some Aussie radio presenters made a gag call to the hospital and the nurse involved ended up taking her own life. Horrible event.

@Rinoachicken Can you provide a link? I have never read that.

I remember reading it too.

goldismything · 05/01/2023 22:45

Bluejerfuffke

Your post about mine makes absolutely no sense.

Referring to anyone by their skin colour is racist is it not.

Mezmer · 05/01/2023 22:45

I am not massively royalist. Neither am I keen on H &M or at least what they are doing. But I take no pleasure in watching this now. I know it is a storm of Harry and Meghan own making but they have so massively fucked it all up I can hardly bare to see it.

no Press outlet is sympathising with them any longer. Even the guardian and lbs are picking up on the Mandela issue.

Elle, usually supportive of Meghan, reported negatively on the baby brain comment.

i can’t see how any person no matter how narcissistic or delusional can shrug the backlash off.

I really hope nothing sinister comes out if it. Harry is vulnerable.

but why confess all that stuff that’s gonna do him no favours at all?

i like seeing people jump in holes they dig for themselves but not when the holes could turn into graves.

goldismything · 05/01/2023 22:53

Wow so now Kate didn't have hyperemisis. So she lied about being hospitalised for it.

That's low that's really low from women to women. Shame.
