The royal family

I truly do not understand the hate H&M get

I’ve just started watching their documentary, mainly due to the endless threads on here and wanting to actually see why people were so upset about them.

I don’t understand how anyone can watch them together, and especially watch Harry’s past and experiences and continue with the hate? Am I seeing something different to everyone else?

On mumsnet one of the biggest upset is that they’ve lied. Well first off, who hasn’t? Everyone lies about something. But surely when you’re being imprisoned in your home due to cameras being set up everywhere and your entire life is on show you’re going to say SOMETHING that doesn’t correlate? I know I would.

And almost every mumsnetter gets upset when a door is knocked when they weren’t expecting it, how the fuck could they live like Meghan did? With cameras absolutely everywhere?

I don't see how anyone with even a smidge of compassion could watch this and still want them to suffer and write such vile things. They’re just 2 people in love with little children caught up in the insane royal family/press cycle.

Well... I cannot understand the interest!
They did say that they wanted privacy, for goodness sake! I do not know what privacy means in their dictionary. I am fed up of hearing of them.

No. They never said that. And I'll keep repeating about privacy which you don't understand.

If i burst into your home by kicking the door down. That's invading your privacy.

If you decide you want me to come round, invite me, open the door and welcome me. That isn't.

MushMonster · 16/12/2022 20:16

I could not care less

Glassofwhatever · 16/12/2022 20:18

And I’ll say this again. If this was you, if every single person knew your private life, and you were being attacked every single day what would you do?

Because I would want to tell my side, constantly. I wouldn’t let people imagine I was some fucking awful human when all of done was fall in love.

Perhaps stop adding fuel to the fire every 2 minutes then and perhaps you'd slide out of the limelight, if that's what you wanted of course...

Fine. Why are you on here discussing them then?

I avoid threads I have no interest in

Shadesofscarlett · 16/12/2022 20:27

I think he would have left the country even if not with her. But he wanted to protect her and the kids from the press that ruined his own Mum's existence.

I really do not understand the vitriol towards them and I am not surprised they are now telling their side of the story. The way they have been treated is hideous.

I just hope that they don't look back in 10 years and regret the Oprah interview and the documentary. He really seems to have burned his bridges with the RF. What if him and her do split - where does he go from there?

I do think that they won't vanish - they need the spotlight to do their charity work etc so the press will always go hand in hand with that. I dunno how they move forward now tbh.

ScarierThanBoo · 16/12/2022 20:27

I used to quite like their jumpers and trousers for winter as the materials were always quite thick but they dont do a size big enough in childrens clothing for my tall son. They have rewards/discounts for members though and free delivery too I think. My nearest city hasn't had a branch for years but they might be on TopCashBack or Quidco. Ooh, the accessories are reasonably priced too.

I don't think they could have slid out of the limelight at any point because he's not just a prince, he's Diana's son. His choices and mistakes have been in the public eye since he was at school. Every girlfriend he's had has been scrutinized and by his account driven away by the media.

Harry and Meghan said they want to use their high profile for activism in causes they believe in. There's nothing wrong with that. And they said themselves they wanted to close this chapter and move on to the next. I hope that's true and they are happier for it.

ScarierThanBoo · 16/12/2022 20:38

Oops, silly me 😂😂😂 H and M aren't on Topcashback after all.

They wanted privacy from the PRESS. They also wanted to give their side of the story.

If you were being hounded by every single person that lived in your city (not comparable I know, because they were being attacked globally) would you not want to put the story straight?

They wanted privacy from the press. It doesn’t mean they don’t get to ever speak again. How do you not get that?

So funny! Glad you took the time to write that! Can’t stop laughing!

And this has nothing to do with H and M. Yikes.

In case it helps anyone, they're on Quidco 😊

CovertImage · 16/12/2022 20:56

Why the fuck so people keep reponding to this never-ending shite?

Ostryga · 16/12/2022 20:59

Just watched the correlation between Brexit and H&M timing. Very interesting.

i want to ask the people getting upset about this thread - or the never-ending shite…why does it bother you? Why does someone being an H and Meg fan upset you so?

I think because it’s time to let it go? Get on with their lives, be happy. They’ve stated their views and it’s done, but it’s not. On and on it goes.

This is very ironic... posters, take note.

MarshaMelrose · 16/12/2022 21:06

And I’ll say this again. If this was you, if every single person knew your private life, and you were being attacked every single day what would you do?

Well, clearly they don't think everyone knows about their private life, or they wouldn't do an interview, a series, podcasts, a documentary and a book (with interviews) to tell everyone about their private lives.

And just in case people found that boring, they livened it up by talking about other people's private lives. So no one must talk about theirs but they can talk about whose ever they like.

MarshaMelrose · 16/12/2022 21:08

And they said themselves they wanted to close this chapter and move on to the next. I hope that's true and they are happier for it.

That's what their spokesperson said after the Oprah interview and yet...here we are.

youhavenoshameonyourface · 16/12/2022 21:12

No, they're just irritating, boringly, normal and no-one cares. Who hasn't had a row with their brother at some point? Families are tricky, they need to get over it and get on. We all have to as we want our children to know their families/aunties/un;lces/cousins and we don't all have 11ty million pounds to bugger off around the world and go on a 3 year self indulgence spree about the row we had with our brother.

I honestly do not care about them one way or another, but people’s obsession with them is a bizarre phenomenon, akin to the similar obsession with the McCanns back when. In both cases nobody really has any idea what genuinely went on, but there is some powerfully weird psychological transference and projection going on.

It’s fascinating, but also depressing to watch. Normally reasonable and sane people seem to have taken leave of their senses as soon as Harry or Meghan are mentioned.

I think people are irritated by the language they use.
It's so dramatic.
Harry talks about the trauma of being shouted and screamed at by his brother. Really?? Trauma? Was he really "shouting and screaming" ?
Also saying "she was in floods of tears", really, what's wrong with just crying?
It's the drama and language they use to look like victims.
Meghan says at one point " we had nowhere to live"
Really?
Pretty insensitive to the thousands of women who really have nowhere to live.
Also they " had to leave immediately" so they just booked their private plane.
So much drama.

youhavenoshameonyourface · 16/12/2022 21:23

I don't think people actually care about H&M or any particular royal. I think people are just fascinated by the privacy of the 'institution' and are keen to watch anything about it in case they get an insight into 'real life'. They hope find out that they're like the f..cking Fulfords behind closed doors but the royals will never be as entertaining or interesting as that.

You have never, and willl never in your life be privy to a royal conversation.

So what you’re doing is getting upset, or disbelieving about something you have absolutely no idea about.

Why are you picking apart the language used? Is it because it is horrific and you want to downplay it? So in your head the institution you’ve grown up with is not evil? It’s just 2 people trying to make it sound bad?

I think you’ve chosen the wrong side.

CatherineMorland · 16/12/2022 21:45

I think it’s ok to tell your side of the story if you feel hard done by.

But it’s not ok to SELL your story for $millions, so that it has to be high drama: muck racking and exaggerated to attract viewers.

It’s also not ok to exploit and monetise royal titles whilst telling anyone who’ll listen how terrible it is to be royal.

It’s also not ok to tell lies or make vague unsubstantiated allegations that taint a whole family.

They talk about love whilst totally screwing their formerly loved families.

That’s why I don’t like them.

VladmirsPoutine · 16/12/2022 21:47

only a few mad fuckers hate them, mostly people just find them annoying.

This!! There's a dedicated group of diehard Meghan haters, most people just think it all quite a tedious circus.
