The royal family

Why does everybody hate MM so much?

yorkshirepudsx · 16/12/2022 12:55

Probably going to end up quite controversial, however

I don't understand why people hate Meghan Markle so much?

As outsiders all looking in, we should really be on the fence for most of what has or hasn't happened, however in every situation, people jump at MM and hate her so much?!

I understand people may doubt things she's claimed, but there's no need for people to drag her down and have a go at her as much as they do.

& let's face it, none of the royal family are perfect 🤷‍♀️ I don't see a smidge as much hate for the likes of Andrew after the things he was involved with?

It seems you've assumed things about Meghan. Meghan 'identifies' as mixed race or biracial. Interesting you didn't know this. You can feel free to look it up.

I didn't assume anything about anyone. I wrote facts while responding to the bit of the posts I needed to respond to.

I'm afraid I cannot read your mind so I wouldn't know what you mean. I can only go by what you wrote and in my opinion, you're now backtracking. You wanted to prove a point that Meghan is indeed Black with your posts and now that I've corrected them with facts, you're trying to say that this is what you meant in the first place.

The fact that you don't know what Meghan calls herself is a big proof in my opinion.

I agree though, it's not an argument.

Meghan has in fact referred to herself as Black.

Could anyone link to a single example of a racist article re MM in the mainstream media. Just one

thewayround · 17/12/2022 12:27

So… I read and reread those articles and can’t pinpoint a single comment that would be regarded as racist.

perhaps you could enlighten me?

NaturalBae · 17/12/2022 15:15

As previously stated, we’re doomed 🙁

Well that’s a touch hyperbolic! 😂

The assumption that since she was black, that Doria (and Meghan) were living in a crime ridden, gang-scarred area of the city (Compton). The article also talked about how her black neighbourhood would be too unsafe for Harry to visit. In reality they lived in a different middle class neighbourhood in Bladwin Hills in Crenshaw.

In her own words

Here, as the Duchess claimed in a public letter to the U.S. Speaker Nancy Pelosi last year, she was brought up in terrible poverty, so destitute that she ‘grew up on the $4.99 salad bar at Sizzler’.

‘I knew how hard my parents worked to afford this,’ she wrote, ‘because even at five bucks, eating out was something special.’ Life was ‘about making ends meet’, and as a teenager she ‘waited tables, babysat and piecemealed jobs together’, just to survive.

thewayround · 17/12/2022 17:26

Doesn’t sound middle class to me?

Treebranch · 17/12/2022 17:28

If people want to spend their free time hate watching documentaries about the royals, then why shouldn't they? It's been a tough year for a lot of us. It's better then making up fakre profiles and trying to catfish Americans for fun. Or messing around on the dark Web. Or gambling away the family home. If Meghan and Harry were genuinely trying to withdraw from the public eye, that would be one thing, but they're clearly not.

Eyerollcentral · 17/12/2022 17:30

It’s not that I hate her, I don’t, I’m Irish and bar the clothes and gos I couldn’t gaf about the British Royal Family. I have to say though having spent many years assessing people’s credibility and whether or not they are truthful, I am afraid due to her own words and actions, I cannot believe one word that comes out of her mouth. It’s so apparent to me that she rarely tells the truth that I cannot believe any one is taken in by her. Her tone, facial expressions and mannerisms are all affectations. That’s before you look at all the inconsistencies in what she says. On the stand in Court she would make Rebecca Vardy look like the pinnacle of honesty and integrity.

A $5.00 salad bar 35 years ago was a pretty typical price. THey were not that poor.

This is her childhood home. It is in a middle class neighbourhood.

The poverty narrative is hilarious. She went to Dee paying schools and her father paid for her to attend a highly regarded university for frankly a fairly non academic course. She had no scholarships at no time for any part of her education. That’s a fairly substantial lie.

Racism

So you think her defining feature is the colour of her mother's skin.

The only reason people could possibly dislike her is because her mother is black. Nothing to do with anything she has done?

Eyerollcentral · 17/12/2022 17:36

*fee paying
And fyi if you are actually in poverty a salad bar of any price isn’t even in the equation. $5 30 years ago is about $12/£10 today. No one in poverty in the uk is spending 10 quid a head on dinner ‘to survive’

thewayround · 17/12/2022 17:37

This, right here, isn’t a report

it is the actual full open letter that MM wrote

read that and one back to tell us whether you think she was describing a middle class childhood!

fluffiphlox · 17/12/2022 17:39

I don’t understand why people are so invested in them (and the rest of the royal family). Whatever we see of any of them is filtered in some way - we don’t know them! They are a complete irrelevance to my daily life.

thewayround · 17/12/2022 17:39

Oh I’m no fan of MM

but I’m posting in response to the PPs saying that racist to assume her childhood was poor. No assumption. HER WORDS

Lozzybear · 17/12/2022 17:40

She’s fake…poor,
my arse…I’ve driven past her private school in LA.

She attended private schools as a fee paying student. Her elementary school was the Little Red School house where they focused on growing organic produce and her middle and high school (Immaculate Hearr High School) was $16K a year and set in a beautiful hillside location.

Meghan was never poor. Both parents even after the divorce lived in middle class neighbourhoods. Her dad had a good salary as a lighting director on Hollywood sets and her mother also worked as a social worker. Working odd jobs as a teenager and occasionally eating at a salad bar restaurant (when both parents work) doesn't make one poor.

Eyerollcentral · 17/12/2022 17:41

But @thewayround that letter and the comments about her background have been completed disproved by everyone who knew her at the time. She didn’t work during high school, her father was well paid and she went to private school.

Oh don’t get me wrong. She’s a liar.

but papers can’t be blamed for describing her childhood as a poor one based on the words that come out of her very own mouth.

Thus somewhat weakening the claim that the papers are being racist by describing her childhood as poor. They are repeating her own flipping words!

thewayround · 17/12/2022 17:48

My point is

she’s a liar

AND

the papers were not being racist by reporting her childhood as a deprived one

musingsinmidlife · 17/12/2022 17:49

Her father also won $750K in 1990 when Meghan was 9 in the lottery. He spent most of it on his kids and everyone agreed that he spoiled Meghan the most. This is partly why the family is so angry about how she talks about them. She was more than happy to take his money and use it to meet her needs as a teen and young adult and it gave her a great start in her adult life. She lived with her dad thoughout high school as his place was close to the private school she was attending. Her father bought her a Ford Explorer and despite her stories of it being a piece of junk - everyone else has disputed this and said it worked fine and was in good condition.

The straight outta compton article isn't saying she was poor. It is saying she must have lived in a crime ridden, gang filled neighbourhood...because her mother was black
