Looking at her I think it unlikely that “hearty roasts” feature much in her life.

Unless you’re claiming that the royal family get down and dirty in the charitable causes, then I don’t see how they’re any different from another big brand.

Ive worked with/for a number of Royal charities over the past few decades and in my experience it’s quite varied but absolutely several of the royals ‘get down and dirty’ with the charitable causes that mean something to them, often this isn’t presented publicly though. Charles and Katherine tend the best the best ‘reviews’ from service users in my experience, William and Harry less so.

I have heard that Princess Anne is one of the hardest working royals. I can see her getting down and dirty in the causes she represents.

BellePeppa · 16/12/2022 11:40

She’s certainly made of sterner stuff than ‘strong’ woman Meghan who takes offence at everything no matter how trivial. Kate’s model is more Princess Ann - knuckle down and do the work, don’t complain and don’t be wet.

SummaLuvin · 16/12/2022 11:40

Zimtsterne · 16/12/2022 11:29

I admire qualities like dignity and restraint far more than "passion" (bleurgh) and weeping and wailing. Good on her.

Just because she isn't spilling her guts all over the place doesn't mean she's bland or boring or whatever else people lob at her.

of course so sorry. women should be seen but not heard.

Trivial like racism and death threats?

Another thread was about how an editor for a major paper told Norman Baker that Kate and William were off limits for criticism. m.youtube.com/watch?v=HPOahpNmiMg

Kate is safe in the knowledge that the press will be on her side, more or less, because she’s married to the next in line. The palace will protect Kate. Meghan does not have that level of safety or security.

Kate’s journey has been much easier. And I’m glad because I wouldn’t want anyone to go through what Meghan has endured.

So carefully controlled. Wasn't George asked who he'd like to win the tennis game he was watching and when he said Djokovic, the press were told not to publish what he said.

Kate plays being bland better than most so maybe that is who she is.

PenanceAdair · 16/12/2022 11:42

No one knows who Kate really is. Both the "She's the best" and "She's the worst" teams are speculating. We can only see what she shows us and wants us to see.

Same with all of them.

From that, I think she's making the best of the life she chose...I hope she's happy.

TrimTheTree · 16/12/2022 11:27

What all young girls should aim to be….. arm candy and a mum of children who have to suck up being uncomfortable and smile at everything.

This! It's all utter bullshit and a truly terrible role model.

Seymour5 · 16/12/2022 11:44

The Royal family has changed enormously during my lifetime. I’m an admirer of the Princess Royal. She accepted her role, and works hard to this day. She was the second of the Queen’s children, yet her children have no royal titles. I think she played it just right, unlike her younger, very entitled, brother.

Although it’s more relaxed now, anyone marrying in and accepting a title would hopefully be bright enough to take things slowly, and not expect to immediately (if ever) be the star of the show. Poor Queen, I’m glad she’s out of it all.

Ohnonevermind · 16/12/2022 11:45

She has an inner secure self confidence do doesn’t need to go on TV and talk about pilots thanking her for her service or made up conversations about lion king cast members saying South Africans were dancing on the streets when she got married

Whoputtheramintheramalamadingdong · 16/12/2022 11:45

Mellymoon · 16/12/2022 11:10

More class in her little finger than Harry and Meghan combined.

Yep. They're an absolute embarrassment.

OneDayFri · 16/12/2022 11:45

MyPurpleHeart · 16/12/2022 09:36

That's the difference between a secure and confident woman and one that feels the need to cry about every little issue on TV

Or one whom the media prints stories to make her sis in law look bad.

CovertImage · 16/12/2022 11:46

That way that many - presumably - women on this thread have described other women (Kate OR Meghan) is quite despicable

Ohnonevermind · 16/12/2022 11:48

Meghan is more than capable of going on TV and making herself look bad without help from anyone else

SomeMoreGinPlease · 16/12/2022 11:49

I think she's lovely. Doesn't seem to put a foot wrong.

Delectable · 16/12/2022 11:51

It'll be via lots more leaks, quotes from sources and horrid articles in British media.

supertato23 · 16/12/2022 11:51

@CovertImage agreed! Aside from the misogynistic bullshit and patriarchal privilege is women have to deal with on a day to day business, my number one pet peeve is when other women tell women what being a feminist is or the 'right' way to be a woman! True equality means a woman is allowed to be whatever the fuck she wants to be, whether that is subservient, outspoken, married, single, working, with or without kids! Let's just stick to the facts... Meghan and Harry have told their side of the story, Kate has not responded! No need to berate her...

MintyFreshOne · 16/12/2022 11:54

KateBain · 16/12/2022 10:20

Just like her mum who planned for years for her to marry William

Oh give over!

😂😂😂

Are you a member of the KP PR team? Or just willing to do it for free?

Bluekerfuffle · 16/12/2022 11:56

I think she’s lovely. Always smiling, looks perfectly happy and confident. And she seems genuinely interested in people and helping charities without making it all about her. If she feels hard done by or sorry for herself she certainly does a good job of hiding it. Her focus seems to be on what she can do for other people and not herself all the time.

LillianGish · 16/12/2022 11:57

Kate has nothing to prove - she's Princess of Wales and she will one day be Queen. She's surrounded by her own supportive family - and has withstood all the brickbats thrown at her "doors to manual" mother and embarrassing Uncle Gary without feeling the need to go NC with them, and she's replicated that loving family dynamic with her own three children.

OneDayFri · 16/12/2022 11:57

Unifolorn · 16/12/2022 10:39

It was cruel but very calculated for them to release part 2 on the day of her Carol service, the first one since the Queen had passed. I think none of us know what life is like for kate behind closed doors, she comes across as warm and chatty at Royal engagements- especially those with children. Trouble is when you see a photo in the press as she's always well turned out it appears that she's stuffy when she's probably not.

So H&M need to look at the RF calendar before they can speak? Also, the broadcaster decides when programmes are aired and not the people who make the programmes. Netflix is a global company, so shouldn't pander to William and Kate like their sycophants.

William and Kate must need therapy to make sense of all of this

I don't think that's Kate's style. She's more likely to hit the gym (disagree with pp, I bet her bone density is excellent), get the kids baking and out on a bracing country walk, go shoot things with Will (gross but I never said she was perfect), cook and eat a hearty roast and watch Schitts Creek.

It's so funny how people project these details onto strangers.

You have no idea how she manages her emotions or what kind of person she is.

She's a white woman with three children who wears coat dresses, smiles and waves. We know very little about what kind of person she is, by design.

Personally when I think of women I admire they are people who have overcome something, created something, challenged something. She is inoffensive but that's it.

Blossomtoes · 16/12/2022 12:00

You can bet your arse Netflix look at it when planning their programming.

Inspecto · 16/12/2022 12:02

Quinner · 16/12/2022 11:26

I think Catherine is very typical of a certain type of woman. Reared in a well off close loving family to be confident and sent to certain schools to help cement this.

Wanted nothing more than to be a wife and mother. I could be very wrong as she is a cipher but I don’t sense a great level of ego or depth there, I think she’s genuinely uncomplicated - a bit like Camilla really. These type of women are perfect for the royal family.

In many ways the queen was the same only instead of motherhood she put being sovereign as her main mission.

I think they are great women for being good wives and mothers to help hold a family together when times are good. I’m just not sure how well they would do when times are not good. Neither Kate nor Camilla strike me as Boudicca material.

The real test is: If Camilla had been in Diana’s shoes, how would she have faired? How would Camilla have coped with being chosen as a wife because of her virginity? Married to a man who loved another woman but needed her to produce heirs because she was a virgin?

And if being a good wife and mother is all that you need to be to have a claim to the crown practically every woman has a right to the crown.

Most people can be uncomplicated if they have the right circumstances (as you say, reared in privilege, loving family and good schools to cement all of that).

My point is that it shouldn’t be so easy to have a claim to the Crown because the Crown is THE symbol of justice. And there is nothing more complicated than justice and injustice.
