The dynasty is bigger than the individual. Kate is a cog in the dynasty, and the media will support her because she is married to the future King. Harry was never destined to be part of the institution in the same fashion; he had to find a life outside it. Kate is wedded to the dynasty - the media are wedded to the dynasty. Closing ranks and keeping up appearances are what the individuals within the Monarchy do, because the Monarchy is older, bigger, more rooted, more engrained in the history of the county than any one person. Kate is not representing herself, she's representing all of that which she has become part of.

Mxflamingnoravera · 16/12/2022 10:15

It was minus 7 out there yesterday and she's in heels, thin tights, bare neck and no hat. That's above and beyond. She must have been ffreezing.

KateBain · 16/12/2022 10:16

RaRaRaspoutine · 16/12/2022 09:15

If she couldn't do that bare minimum of looking presentable on camera for a hot minute, she wouldn't be married in. Rumour has it she was the last one standing, though, after Isabella Calthorpe and Jecca Craig said no.

Nasty. Why do you need to denigrate another woman?

I don’t really get the official response part as she’s just turned up to an event

But no response is best anyway

She would have arrived in her heated, chauffeur driven car to the venue. Not having to wait at the nearest bus stop. And I doubt she tarried too much outside, in the cold.

KateBain · 16/12/2022 10:20

Just like her mum who planned for years for her to marry William

Oh give over!

The same Norton Baker, who is a self claimed anti-monacist. The Same guy who`s only articles on M&H were in both the Sun and the DailyMail, complaining about the cost of the RF to the tax payer. So the editorial had a bias slant from either the Sun or the DailyMail.

All papers have an editorial bias, so you as a H&M defender who says the DM and Sun only publish lies you are now quoting the writers of those very same articles are reliable.

Do you see your double standars here 😂

I’m not actually a H&M defender. I defend those I feel are being unfairly demonised by more powerful bodies. And it could be anyone, including you.

The Norman Baker point is about another thread and I mentioned it so you can look it up if you were interested. Do you not think it’s interesting that he was told (as an anti-monarchist) to lay off Kate and William but not Meghan and Harry?

Do you not see the disparity in treatment? Why should Meghan and Harry be sacrificed to save Kate and William?

Where is the heroism in modern monarchy? I’m going back to the history books when royals had a backbone and used their god-given voices for something meaningful. Crowns were once earned by the heroically worthy, so do not act surprised if it becomes a requirement once again.

Another thread was about how an editor for a major paper told Norman Baker that Kate and William were off limits for criticism. m.youtube.com/watch?v=HPOahpNmiMg

Kate is safe in the knowledge that the press will be on her side, more or less, because she’s married to the next in line. The palace will protect Kate. Meghan does not have that level of safety or security.

Kate’s journey has been much easier. And I’m glad because I wouldn’t want anyone to go through what Meghan has endured.

I guess you are too young to remember the absolute field day the press had with Kate and her parents.

Or one that's not having to deal with racism.

Bingo!

GoingtotheWinchester · 16/12/2022 10:25

@rumship whats “impressive” about having your name used by charities? I’m baffled?

DappledThings · 16/12/2022 10:25

Talia99 · 16/12/2022 09:09

Kate has spent her entire life since she met William smiling serenely and continuing on while publicly ignoring anything that may pop her bubble other than by dieting ruthlessly (I assume because it’s one of the only things in her life she can really control).

I have no idea if William is the most adoring of husbands or banging every woman he meets (I know neither of them) but either way the rumours and gossip must be painful.

I’m not convinced her methods of dealing with what comes with being a member of the RF is any more emotionally healthy than H&M’s (or Diana’s) but I think it’s the only possible method if she wants to stay married and it doesn’t damage the institution of the monarchy in any way so good for her I guess.

I hope she and William are still in love and she still thinks he and the children are worth the negatives that come with being a woman in the RF.

All of this.

So she's arrived somewhere, in a coat and smiling. Am I missing something? How is this in any way significant or making any kind of response to the documentary?

She does indeed never rock the boat and is very well presented. Neither of those are bad qualities but I don't see them as admirable either.

KateBain · 16/12/2022 10:27

She has always struck me as deeply insecure and lacking in confidence and terrified of doing something wrong and upsetting the RF

I think she's very secure in herself, her marriage, her relationships and her role in the RF.

She's replicated the happy family she grew up in and nothing's going to damage it.

She has no sense of drama, she wants to get the job done - make it about the people she is serving - and all the time looking utterly ravishing.

@Inspecto Im intrigued by this:

“What is the crown if not THE symbol of justice?”

I can’t think of anyway at all that the crown symbolises justice - I would argue the very opposite in fact.

MulderitsmeX · 16/12/2022 10:29

I think she does her job well

Well I suppose its literally the 'Crown Court'.

everlastingpanini · 16/12/2022 10:30

I think she is beautiful and dignified.

LadyKenya · 16/12/2022 10:31

I see, we are meant to be impressed because she is "serving" people/us? Whilst looking ravishing. Good grief!

Janieread · 16/12/2022 10:21

I guess you are too young to remember the absolute field day the press had with Kate and her parents.

I noticed that it was Kate and her family. This means Kate was not singled out and on her own. She had family support. I think family support counts for a lot to help build resilience and get through challenging times.

With Meghan it sounds more like she did not have a supportive family behind her.

ghjklo · 16/12/2022 10:37

has anyone heard her opinion on anything at all? not that you need to have causes as a RF member, but she strikes me as so unbelievably dull and robot like. where is the personality? she is but a doll.

KateBain · 16/12/2022 10:16

Hardly that, you're starting an "isn't she special" thread.
People are allowed to say "not really"

I'm with those saying she's insecure. Maybe her 40's will give her a bit more about her.

Unifolorn · 16/12/2022 10:39

It was cruel but very calculated for them to release part 2 on the day of her Carol service, the first one since the Queen had passed. I think none of us know what life is like for kate behind closed doors, she comes across as warm and chatty at Royal engagements- especially those with children. Trouble is when you see a photo in the press as she's always well turned out it appears that she's stuffy when she's probably not.

Have you seen her at any of her engagements? Plenty of videos online if not, most people have probably seen just photos or seen clips of them at formal events ie funerals in which no, she isn't going to be life and soul of the party is she.

GoingtotheWinchester · 16/12/2022 10:41

@Janieread I’m not sure people would connect the crown court with the idea of the royals and justice though? Maybe it’s just me. I see them as a symbol of deep INjustice!

TrashyPanda · 16/12/2022 10:41

I think she has learned a lot from watching her late Majesty

DappledThings · 16/12/2022 10:41

Oh give over. Most people are not that interested in the daily engagements of the RF that they think one church service is a significant date. It is utterly meaningless in the context of what date something was released on Netflix.
