Meghan & Harry Were Lying From The Start, Weren't They?

TheShellBeach · 15/12/2022 17:47

As per the thread title.

Right from the word go, Meghan and Harry were not telling the truth. About anything.

Now the Netflix series has come out it just proves it, over and over again.

I think it actually is difficult to get into the MetGala because what’s her name chooses each person individually. Have you see The Devil wears Prada? Great movie!

I do think it’s beneath them both. It’s turned very weird.

CathyorClaire · 11/02/2024 21:04

But I think Harry is just dim and unaware of what's going on around him and the consequences of his actions

I think he's acutely aware of what's going on around him. How could he not be?

He is however floundering with reality and changing the narrative when he doesn't have those expensive palace spin doctors smoothing his path.

Maireas · 11/02/2024 21:09

Yet they've spent $$$$$ on PR and promotion. Maybe they don't take advice.

Anna Wintour - she’s 74 now it’s going to be interesting to see what happens when her ‘reign’ is over.

He's now the poor relation when it comes to PR spending even in the $$$$$ but yes, I don't doubt he doesn't listen to what he doesn't want to hear.

The apple doesn't fall far from the family tree...

AliceOlive · 11/02/2024 21:17

It will be the end of an era. But maybe it already ended when she put Kim K on the cover and started people like Lena Dunham to the gala. The current “me” generation didn’t need more evidence that their bellybuttons were fascinating and I am not impressed with her for paying homage to them.

AliceOlive · 11/02/2024 21:18

That was for @wordler and I’ve also PM’d you about something completely off topic.

Tezza1 · 12/02/2024 00:47

@Byfleet Also, you use American English. I am curious as to why an American has become so very interested in the British royalty family?

As an Australian, I am 99.99 percent sure from references they have made in the past, that person is an Australian, or at least making an enormous effort to pretend to be so. I haven't noticed the use of American spelling, but, for various reasons, I no longer read her posts. However, American spelling is not the norm here, and when, for example, newspapers have tried to promote 'spelling reform' and actually used it the papers there have been public outcries.

LittleTeawithmilk1 · 12/02/2024 06:34

Byfleet, I’ve now gone back and checked my recent posts, and all I can see is I’ve spelled ‘mum’ as ‘mom’ . It was just a typo in two very long posts.

I am Australian. I don’t only post on the Royal Family threads, but mostly I do. I’ve posted on the ‘Aussie and NZ’ board if you want to check.

In regards to the post above, I don’t know why the post above talks about me in the third person. I thought that was against mumsnet rules.

Hopefully that satisfies both posters’ curiosity.

Tezza1 · 12/02/2024 17:14

@LittleTeawithmilk I responded about you in the third person because I was was simply telling someone else my observation of your responses. I would hardly use the first person. If you think it's against the rules, please report me.

By the way, I have absolutely no curiosity about you.

Before Harry she wrote a lot about her wonderful relationship with her dad. Then after they fell out her mother was put on a pedestal. Likewise friendships. It’s all quite sad. Kate was so helpful and wonderful until she wasn’t. She adored the Queen but didn’t see an issue about hurting her and destroying the RF.

Yes, and this is absolute textbook narcissism. While claiming to be hugely empathetic and warm, narcissists really don't see other people as ...well, people. They're things to be used and then discarded, and they manage to do this while claiming to be the victim. It's so, so obvious - I'm dismayed that so many people don't see through it and roll their eyes right up into their skulls!

I think this is precisely why Meghan became such a controversial & unpopular public figure- she really is a textbook narcissist, and anyone who has encountered the type before will recognise the telltale signs immediately

It could also be the opposite. Meghan cut all those people off after meeting Harry. Cutting people off and becoming isolated is one thing that happens to a victim in a toxic marriage (I know from personal experience). It’s natural to lose touch with school friends or whatever, but the bodies started piling up post-Harry, Meghan didn’t seem to have any problem maintaining relationships before that. She was in close contact with her dad and even living with her ex I think.

StrawberryJellyBelly · 15/02/2024 15:39

Nishky32 · 11/02/2024 08:38

I think she looked close to tears in that clip rather than angry

I’m no fan of Meghan but yes, she looked close to tears and very embarrassed.

CoffeeCantata · 15/02/2024 15:56

Nishky and Strawberry

Yes - definitely, but if you watch her on all kinds of occasions where standing still and keeping quiet and looking straight ahead is required, you can see she's really uncomfortable with it. I get the impression her natural behaviour is very free and informal and she just cannot cope with having to stand and just hold it all in.

It will be pretty obvious from my posts that I'm no fan, but to be fair, along with the pathological attention-seeking, I wonder if there's some kind of issue there. At her mature age it just can't have been down to ingenue innocence and gaucheness, can it? She's an actress too, so used to being directed and learning moves and scripts. It seems weird to me that standing stony-faced like the Royals do often seemed to cause her problems.

Serenster · 15/02/2024 16:15

Meghan told us in her own words “sometimes, as they say, the silent part is still part of the song” so one would have thought she appreciated the power of standing solemnly.

allthemiddlechildrenoftheworld · 15/02/2024 16:18

@TheShellBeach their whole married lives have been built on lies!! it is the only thing they are any good at and the sooner King Charles realises that they are going to continue to shit on the royal family, the better!! he needs to grow some balls and just remove all the titles from the whole family and cast them to the wind. that is what they wanted from the beginning anyway!

CoffeeCantata · 15/02/2024 16:29

I only learned on MN yesterday that the Netflix documentary wasn't even filmed in their own home - they hired a house to film in!! I just can't get over why so many people seem not to mind being sold a completely fake, false and 'curated' version of them and their lives.

I'd imagine on MN we're all healthily skeptical about 'instagram lives' and influencers, but I'm amazed at how much b.s. people seem to accept from H & M. Surely they're both just Instagram influencers on a massive scale yet seemingly intelligent people seem prepared to swallow it whole.

I will never understand...hence my fascination with the whole topic!!

JSMill · 15/02/2024 16:40

@SparklingBubbly she seemed to drop most of the Brits she befriended, like Millie Mackintosh. Do you think that was actually H's influence as those friends weren't 'good enough'?

Gottseidank · 15/02/2024 16:53

But hadn’t H dropped or been dropped by most of his family and former friends too?

Likely a folie à deux

Sisterpita · 15/02/2024 16:58

Allegedly H & M are being followed by a Netflix crew, probably for a behind the scenes for Invictus. I do wonder if they are going down the reality show route.

Or maybe they know no matter what people keep talking about them so people will be more likely to watch it so to draw more attention to the cause

I mean ffs people complain that they should be doing more for their causes instead of being about themselves...they are doing that here and people are now saying they just attention seeking

They can never do anything right in some peoples eyes.

Ebd of the day why do you think the likes of daily mail keep churning article after article about them rehashing stuff from years ago sometimes. It's cos they know people will click on it and then make money from that.

Or maybe they did that for security reasons given that they have had death threats before

You know in movies the white house and surrounding area is never 100% reality

Nor are lots of other similar places.

Sisterpita · 15/02/2024 17:30

@Spectre8 an awful lot of people earn £££ from reality shows why is it not a valid option?

wildernesssw · 15/02/2024 17:32

in the movies?! what has that got to do with reality?!
