Meghan & Harry Were Lying From The Start, Weren't They?

As per the thread title.

Right from the word go, Meghan and Harry were not telling the truth. About anything.

Now the Netflix series has come out it just proves it, over and over again.

@airwrapped

Martin Luther Kind's granddaughter definitely isn't a white housewife and a few days ago she publicly told Meghan not to play the race card because she didn't get her own way. And that is coming from someone whose grandfather was murdered by racists.

LuciferRising · 15/12/2022 18:35

What is this obsession with Meghan? It's a woman you'll never meet.

@GoingtotheWinchester well it's been deleted now and I'm not going to repeat it

So sick of all the boring weirdos obsessed with hating Meghan (and Harry). What's it to you? It's quite easy to guess your motivation. I say good on them for getting away. Time the whole family were put out to grass really, since the death of the Queen.

Unfortunately my father (in his 80s) is one of you, and it has made me despise him a bit. Sad, as he probably hasn't got many years left. I assume you're younger, so what's your excuse?

You despise your 80 plus dad because he doesn’t like Meghan? I think this reflects more on you.

TheShellBeach · 15/12/2022 18:38

I believe they lied when they said they wanted to step down from royal duties and become private citizens.

They have done nothing but keep themselves in the public eye since they left.
So much for privacy.

Liar liar - pants on fire

Meghan and Harry are a great example of

If one person is an arsehole, they are probably an arsehole. But if everyone is an arsehole, it's probably you that's the arsehole.

userxx · 15/12/2022 18:40

Why can't they just fuck off and live the quiet life they claimed to so desperately want. Nobody gives a shit about them, their sense of self importance is embarrassing.

They didn’t say anything about privacy. The media made that up and the gullible fools bought it. Now they sit in their front rooms, with their pitchforks, frothing “so much for wanting privacy” when Harry and Meghan never, ever said that.

I think they’ve been treated really badly by some members of the Royal Family, the staff who work for the RF, the MSM and some of the general public. I don’t blame them for leaving, I would have too if my parents didn’t have my back.

Because whatever you think about them, it's obviously not in the slightest bit true that nobody gives a shit about them. There is still huge media attention around them and a lot of people DO have very strong opinions on them. That is obvious to anyone paying the slightest bit of attention. It's not surprising that they feel the need to address that, whether they're going about it in the right way or not.

What on earth do you mean? Lied about what? I think the documentary helps us to add things up a little bit. It's sad how people can be so blinded by the media.

airwrapped · 15/12/2022 18:47

GoingtotheWinchester · 15/12/2022 18:33

@richlydetailed I’ve missed the racism?

I was repeating/paraphrasing what was said by the information dissemination experts on the documentary, which was that the bulk of the Meghan hate twitter accounts were those of white housewives.

MN, I'm not sure why you thought that comment was racism/hate? It was more of an accurate quote from the documentary than 90% of what I've seen on here today.

pelargoniums · 15/12/2022 18:48

They weren’t wrong when they compared hateful stories about her to whack-a-mole, even if you just went by Mumsnet alone, let alone Twitter, Insta, the media. The obsessive hatred is insane. How many threads now, picking this woman apart?

FWIW I like them both more after the final three episodes – I think Harry has grown into someone thoughtful and articulate, able to identify and confront bias and misogyny, and Meghan comes across as fun and able to distance herself from the sheer vitriol she’s up against.

Pretty sure the royal family lies a lot more.

Yup

limoncello23 · 15/12/2022 18:52

They said that they wanted to
(1) move abroad (initial preference being Canada)
(2) have a different relationship with the press
(3) do paid as well as royal work

From their subsequent choices, those appear to be essentially true. Those things are also, for various reasons, each currently considered incompatible with being a 'working royal'. Some elements more so than others.

They did not say that they wanted to live the kind of private life that I want to live. Each to their own I guess.

There are other things that they have said that are ambiguous (because "word salad" is a thing). It's possible that those were deliberate lies, but it doesn't seem like the most likely conclusion.

I don't think they did say that. They wanted to do things differently but the family said no.

But why should they shut up? They are public figures and will be for the rest of their lives no matter what they do people will have an interest in what they do and say. No one is making you listen to them that is a choice you make

They did say that they wanted privacy. Privacy for their children particularly.

Cool.

Exactly. They wanted to earn money independently so they could do royal duties but reject the press intrusion on the basis that they weren’t accepting public funds, therefore they didn’t need to be part of the media pact. The Firm rejected the plan.
