As per the thread title.

Right from the word go, Meghan and Harry were not telling the truth. About anything.

Now the Netflix series has come out it just proves it, over and over again.

Also, it seems to me that two of them are adolescents in a stage of arrested development and that is what has drawn them together.

I suppose she did feel in competition with her half siblings - that is only natural. However she did see her father, spend a lot of time with him and he did spend money and time in her ambitions.

Meghan has given very few interviews, written articles etc.

Not under her own name maybe but her influence and that of her vast entourage is there in much of what others write or say.

She was interviewed for Oprah and Netflix of course. In articles for The Cut and Variety magazines, and then she spoke of her experiences in her podcasts. Also when she guest edited Vogue. Also Ellen. Also the article she wrote about having the miscarriage. Of course the initial interview with Tom Bradby.
It's her choice to share details of her life, and her privilege.

@RosettaStormer I have always thought this - Harry met this woman who listened to him, empathised with him and encouraged him I imagine. She related to him. She had a different view from the "British stiff upper lip". She knew how to pull his strings. She was an attractive woman and he was immensely flattered. Now as to how much she likes listening to those stories over and over again who knows. It has shaped their life now and not in a positive way.

Neither of them really seems happier for it. They have brought the worst out in each other, and it can't be good for their children . Being parented by two narcissistic immature people who are almost totally estranged from their families.

I will say that living with a person like this is soul destroying - the need you can feel to always keep the other buoyant, to listen to their interpretations of how people have treated them badly. If you try to support them and agree it can get worse. If you try to divert it can turn out badly for you too. It is like living life on eggshells.

Very interesting old interview with Meghan. The bit I have screenshot - I haven't heard that before. Is this one of her exaggerations? She is referring to the Press Dept of the RF.

Blimey! There is some serious gushing there! Very little in the way of journalistic standards...

Edited

It’s not exaggeration exactly, she has a tendency to conflate different things together. So the people she’d be giving the photo to (or rather, taking the photo) is the royal rota but the people using the N word was a troll on Twitter. It caused a mini-storm with people trying to identify which member of the royal rota had called Archie the N word (none of them!)

It was the same eg in Oprah where she conflated 4 separate complaints - the supposed convo about what their potential children would look like before she was married, her pregnancy with Archie and how she was feeling vulnerable at the time, the rules over titles, and security, in one sentence as if they were all linked.

CoffeeCantata · 10/02/2024 18:56

Oh my goodness, Mrs Mingleton! That is truly one of the most vomit-inducing reads of my life.

What an absolute textbook narcissist...control, control, control...my image..me, me, me.

Is it really meant to be taken seriously, or is it a very clever bit of satire???

Unbe-bloody-lievable!!!

wildernesssw · 10/02/2024 19:06

Are we supposed to take all that at face value?

It's very odd 😮

wildernesssw · 10/02/2024 19:08

I assume it reads differently in the US?

We need US MNetters to advise. @AliceOlive ?

Maireas · 10/02/2024 19:08

The bit where she makes the gutteral noise?! 🤔
Also, claiming that she's a good parent raising her children in the USA, because in the UK they'd be papped going to school. Does she really believe that?

I think that's what happens, @SparklingBubbly . A misunderstanding, a conflation of different things, it's certainly evident in that interview.

StartupRepair · 10/02/2024 19:44

The journalist who wrote that article vanished from public view afterwards.

She does it quite a lot. I mean you can draw a dotted line from one subject to the other. When talking about the Royal Rota, “Why would I give the very people that are calling my children the N-word a photo of my child… etc” making it sound like she is questioning why she has to give photos to RR members that have used the N word about her children. What she actually meant is: ”Why would I give the Royal Rota access to my children to take photos for consumption by the general public, which naturally includes members of the public who have used the N word about my children.” When making serious allegations you need to use extremely precise language, but she doesn’t.

jeffgoldblum · 10/02/2024 20:14

Did someone actually use the n word at Archie???
I'm shocked 😮

Maireas · 10/02/2024 20:21

Although Oprah was guilty of that too; during the interview the headlines on screen purporting to be UK tabloid headlines negative about them turned out to be from Australia, the USA and an online publication of a very right wing variety.

She went further than that! The actual quote:

[Meghan] remarked upon how, if Archie were in school in the U.K., she’d never be able to do school pickup and drop-off without it being a royal photo call with a press pen of 40 people snapping pictures.

Absolute fantasy. Even when the Wales’ have permitted their children to be photographed on each of their first ever day of school, there has been a single photographer allowed on the school grounds to take the picture. Otherwise, the children are not photographed.

mrsmingleton · 10/02/2024 21:50

She's a bit of a - don't know what to say really - talks about sex a lot and interviews people.

I read that she went on extended leave as Meghan was unhappy with the interview result.
