Last thread has filled up so I thought I'd create another to chat trailers and teasers while we hang about waiting for better more truth bombs to drop in the main event.

I will leave you to your clutching at straws to paint Meghan in a bad light. Good luck!

To be fair, I don't blame you. In your place I would give up too!
There's really no logical defence for their behaviour

Roussette · 24/12/2022 08:14

No, the turkey calls. And if I have ever linked something from Vanity Fair I get my arse handed to me on a plate for bothering with such a pathetic publication.

Isn't it funny... I was going to add to my post 'cue Susan coming on and saying I've given up'.

One thing you are is predictable.

Happy Christmas! Xmas Grin

That’s funny because MM herself was very happy to give an exclusive interview with a front cover to Vanity Fair!!!

Roussette · 24/12/2022 09:10

Which is probably why I got jumped on, on MN

MarshaMelrose · 24/12/2022 09:21

So selling himself to the highest bidder and hiring a cameraman to do that means nothing?

Well, I mean all three of them of them have done this so you'd think there might be more understanding how that could come about. Sounds like it's OK for Harry to sell out his family but not Thomas.

ancientgran · 24/12/2022 09:38

Roussette · 24/12/2022 08:05

So selling himself to the highest bidder and hiring a cameraman to do that means nothing? Just before the wedding?

I think he was a fish out of water, I agree with that but to say every text they sent was to look good if ever others read it is a horrible thing to say. They didn't know the court would demand them.

I give up. You're entrenched in your dislike of M&H, there is no point discussing it. Thomas is a saint and Meghan is spawn of the devil, I get it.

Was he in hospital when he wasn't responding to her messages? I don't know the timeline well enough to know. If he was why didn't they phone the hospital to get an update? He might not have had his phone with him, he might not have the charger with him, he might have been too ill/too medicated to respond.

All that is obviously if he was in hospital and I'm speaking from experience having been rushed into the cardiac ward and couldn't be bothered with anything.

Blip · 24/12/2022 09:52

Meghan does seem to estrange or ditch an uncommon number of family and friends and Harry is now going the same way.

Maybe they will forgive everyone in the season of goodwill?

I thought this, wasn’t he in hospital with a bad heart?
I don’t know the timeline though.

Harry also sent some ‘harsh’ messages to him, which weren’t read out in court, Apparently they were considered to be ‘damaging’. Not a good look for him.

I think he’s at fault for 99% of the shit show

Yeah. Why can’t they just put up with racism and people selling their stories/photos to the newspapers? They should just let it all go. Imagine having an issue with people you thought you could trust doing such ‘silly‘ things as being racist.

Ffs. If you would stand for this shot and keep those sorts of people in your life, you’re either like them or you’re weak and need boundaries.

bakalava · 24/12/2022 10:04

Her gushing daddy posts weren't specifically referencing an obese guy with a lazy eye. They were designed to impress her readers and never referenced an actual human being to whom she wanted them introduced. When she found Harry and chose a televised wedding, I would say that, yes, she was embarrassed by what he looks like (especially since she was obsessed with her own image and creating an impression of promoting wellness. Doria fitted the mould, he was more of a problem. I bet she was really properly torn between sucking it up for one day by letting people see him and secretly praying that his bad health would rule him out from attending. In the end, those journalists exposed his appearance and personality to the world in a comical way so her choice was taken away from her.

Ah! maybe that's where she learnt the trick. She's since improved on it massively

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/12/2022 10:30

Not sure about that one, Roussette, though it's true H&M couldn't have known what disclosure the court would require. After all it's already been shown the written letter was penned with an eye to possible publication, and there's quite a history of "appearances" being the main driver at the expense of the facts

Overall it would have been interesting to see all the conversations rather than some being redacted, but of course that's something else we may never know

Oh, and good luck with that turkey and have a really lovely Christmas Xmas Grin

Blip · 24/12/2022 10:44

Is it really necessary to estrange pretty much every member of the family on both sides of the relationship?

Not to mention staff and friends in huge numbers?

I do question this. I don't think it's even remotely credible to defend this by saying it's all about racism.

People who say they stand for kindness and compassion need to demonstrate this themselves before preaching it to others. Christmas seems to me like a good time to start.

Blip · 24/12/2022 10:46

LittleBitLostWithoutYou "Imagine having an issue with people you thought you could trust doing such ‘silly‘ things as being racist."

It's Harry himself who comes to mind here surely?

Roussette · 24/12/2022 10:50

Thanks @Puzzledandpissedoff You too! Merry Christmas Xmas Smile

Turkey is looking gooooood ready for a roasting Xmas Grin

Apparently Charles and Camilla were a bit shocked when it emerged that Meghan had actually never visited him in Mexico, even before Harry was on the scene.

Walnutwhipsarenothesame · 24/12/2022 11:14

Ticketyboots · 24/12/2022 08:01

Sounds that he was going through an emotional issue in those few days / weeks.

He seems to be a man who grafted his entire life and devoted so much of his time and hard earned money to his children especially Meghan for decades.

He had retired to a simple quiet life in Mexico and then seemingly was being thrust on to the world stage for a performance which was overwhelming for him and left him in a crisis of confidence.

To cut this doting and devoted dad from her life because he was afraid for those few weeks is abominable and cold hearted. But that is a pattern for MM to cut people from her life.

There is no evidence of nasty texts back to her and you could also read the way her texts as being overly explanatory and written in a way that they looked good if read by others.

This is what she wrote about him in The Tig - she dedicated a very public post to him on father day.

“our club sandwich and fruit smoothie tradition post my tap & ballet class—classes, which by the way, he religiously took me to on Saturday mornings after working 75+ hours a week as a lighting director.” He put “gas in my car when I went from audition to audition trying to make it as an actress,” she wrote, and “believed in this grand dream of mine well before I could even see it as a possibility.” She lauded “the blood, sweat and tears this man (who came from so little in a small town in Pennsylvania, where Christmas stockings were filled with oranges, and dinners were potatoes and Spam) invested in my future so that I could grow up and have so much.”

Even after her cutting him out he was devoted and loving saying “my daughter has been a princess since the day she was born.” and that he would be heartbroken if she never spoke to him again.

Its a shame she doesn’t have his tenderness, compassion and seems unable to forgive the crisis of confidence of an old, tired, unwell man. Her bitterness seems to sustain years and years later.

Even the 2018 Vanity Fair piece talks about her stalling everything around this with “the firm” unable to take action as she dragged her feet.

I feel sorry for the guy - he comes across as gentle, lost and desperately sad.

Well said. ‘Stockings filled with oranges’. Hmm .
Does she mean there was an orange in his stocking like many people of his generation? That’s not poverty if so. She does like to make everything so dramatic and attention seeking . Nothing with her is just ordinary.

MarshaMelrose · 24/12/2022 11:17

Her dad wasnt racist to her. He did sell stories but then so has she. I can't see how one us,worse than the other.

Walnutwhipsarenothesame · 24/12/2022 11:26

They’re cut from the same cloth, aren’t they?

AutumnCrow · 24/12/2022 11:28

I felt really sorry for her back then, when Harry was talking about his family - the Royal Family - becoming the family she never had.

I wonder if with hindsight he regrets saying such a foolish thing.

That was a precautionary PR move which the palace would have been well aware of. Basically, the media are sitting on all sorts of stories about her wild past. I know a few of those but they have never made it into print and probably never will. If they had been leaked, then it would have all been blamed on her awful upbringing.
It was wrong because she was not ashamed of her antics and really enjoyed herself on those occasions. She never saw it as an embarrassing secret or something to explain away.
I feel that they should have just let it all be put out there. Autumn Phillips was also a girl with a wild past and they had suppressed a lot of those stories so they felt that they were best placed to advise.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/12/2022 11:41

(Thomas) did sell stories but then so has she. I can't see how one us,worse than the other

That's one of those points you never see addressed by the more unbalanced commentators, Marsha - hardly surprising I guess, since I'm not sure there IS any answer to it

AutumnCrow · 24/12/2022 11:47

I do wonder though if 'the family she never had' had the effect of making people want to look at her family all the more? And I thought it was very rude of Harry to say it. It seemed cruel and shit-stirring.

I also think it inflamed Markle family members. I think that had the effect of a couple of them thinking, 'Fuck you, Meg'. Maybe it wasn't all about money. Maybe a lot of it is hurt pride, embarrassment and shame - big human emotions that are hard to keep in check.

I know I would feel immensely insulted if I thought I could be on the receiving end of Harry's remark. Because Meghan does have a family, as evidenced by her mother in her life. And I think Thomas maybe just lost his mind back then for a while under the pressures.
