I’ve just finished watching it and fwiw my impressions were:
** there are massive cultural clashes going on here (talk about two countries divided by a common language) and we should never under-estimate the innate differences between Brits and Americans
** the bullying of MM by the British tabloids and other so called news and media outlets has been vile and extreme
** MM has suffered genuine racism
** I understand better now why they left
** Harry needs to get a proper job and once the dc are older, so does MM (too many shots of Harry lolling about in bare feet)
** while the press intrusion they suffered was indeed hideous, some things they had to say about the Covid period were tone deaf as were the comments about Nottingham Cottage (I wouldn’t say no to a two bedroom cottage in central
London with manicured grounds thank you very much)
** I think we all need to examine the things we read in the newspapers a bit more critically and also look beyond the initial impression we gain of people when it’s been largely informed by those newspapers
** they over-egged the point about themselves being more popular than K and W as a reason why they were pushed out/briefed against but they could have been a great asset to the RF
** I do believe they were briefed against
** I do think there is a Faustian pact between the press and the RF
** also that the RF circle to protect the institution above all else, no matter who they hurt in the process
** there was something a bit strange about the bits involving Ashley the niece
** the bits when they were meditating were cringey
** Thomas Markle and the Markle family behaved dreadfully
** overall I think H and M made some valid points and H came across as more articulate than I expected but the series left me with quite a few questions
** Harry has truly burned his boats so I hope they will be very happy together
