I don't like the trite comments about the commonwealth

Apparently the Queen's accession speech has been doctored carefully revised so as to appear to emphasise 'The Imperial Family' while eliminating the reference to serving us plebs.

I simply don’t understand the relentless fandom. It’s fine to say you like Meghan or Harry or both (do they have to come as a pair?!) but never, ever to think, “Oh, whoops, that went a bit far” or “that was rude” or “well, they said x last time so that’s inconsistent” makes posters sound like they’re besotted and have abandoned all critical thinking.

Well, I luffed the Queen. ❤ I never knew her but whenever I saw her in telly or listened to her speeches, she just made me feel secure and happy. I'm pretty meh about HAM even though presently 🤨 at their attitude, I think that everyone's entitled to feel how they feel, and express that. And anyone trying to pull someone down for liking or not liking someone, isn't going to change minds, instead they'll just harden positions.

Do you happen to know the difference between being thrown to the wolves and being fed to them? Because Meghan makes quite the point that is was NOT the former but the latter and I haven't got the foggiest what she meant by that.

I would have thought that if you were fed to the wolves, you would have been eaten, so is this not the real Meghan that is now speaking to us as she has actually been digested 😱😂

In about five minutes none of this will matter a toss. The only currency they had was whinging about the racist hell hole that is the royal family. OK, you've done that. Got anything else?

If the show, runs with the ‘tailored’ queens speech then Harry, Meghan and the director should all be thrown at the wolves !

So I came back to say the H and M show on Netflix where I am based is listed with a top 10 tag but it’s not as far as I’ve seen it ever been in the actual top 10 of the day. So no idea how Netflix thinks it’s top 10 unless they use a global perspective and other nations ratings to state that. Maybe someone else knows how they work that out. I cannot but I have tried to see if it’s ever in top 10. Nope. Not that I saw.

It's worth remembering that they made this program while the Queen was alive and very frail. If she hadn't died she would have had to watch them actually distorting her words to trash the legacy of the Commonwealth.

I've shaken my head at stuff they've said but Harry altering the meaning of his grandmother's words....His grandmother who he claimed to have such a special relationship with that it was only him that she really trusted, could talk to and relied on. And he betrayed her like that and she could have still been alive. Thank goodness she had Anne and Charles with her when she died - people who she really could trust.

I think both Harry and Meghan should be locked in the tower for treason.

All they have to offer is a whinge fest. People are fed up with the lies and hypocrisy. Here I sit in my mansion with my lovely healthy kids, my husbands massive inheritances and access to private jets, while a weep without disturbing my makeup and my treacherous husband supports everything I say. I hope they never set foot in this country again.

I don’t think this quite reaches the benchmark of high treason. I wish they’d just go away and live their lives.

I think the problem is, they’re consuming what people say about them, and it’s a cesspit out there (for any public figure). It’s extra toxic with Harry’s background, that he was born into it. The only way to survive is to not read it. But their income, standard of living, and ability to fund security, relies on their public profile. So they can’t disconnect from it as much as they should and in fact have to court the same beast they’re trying to slay. You can’t make people / the press nice. You have to disengage, and they can’t / won’t.

They edited out a few words which then substantially changed the meaning of what she said. She said:

'I declare before you all that my whole life whether it be long or short shall be devoted to your service and to the service of our great Imperial family to which we all belong.'

They edited out the words in bold so it looks like she said:

'I declare before you all that my whole life whether it be long or short shall be devoted to the service of our great Imperial family to which we all belong.'

The editing of the words of that speech is for me the worst thing they have done. All the rest is just fluff but this is despicable. It's also absolutely ironic when they accuse other media of manipulation and untruths.

Really? I thought it rather a good delineation. It’s one thing to be abandoned to ‘wolves’ in general (ie not protected) and another to be fed piece by piece at specific times to specific individual wolves. Quite a good analogy for the experience she’s describing, surely? Whether one finds that reported experience plausible is of course a separate issue.

I find it interesting how many people claim to be utterly baffled when Meghan speaks. I can only assume they are extremely literal people who presumably struggle with nuanced communication elsewhere. It certainly can’t be simply in relation to one person.
