Kate really has had the life of a lot of women's complete fantasies hasn't she?

Born into a well off middle-class family

Received private education. Hobbies. Makes great connections at university eg William

Financially supported into her late 20s and beyond

Works for a few weeks at Jigsaw then never worked another job again.

Pictured clubbing and falling out of taxis when most her age were working thankless jobs.

Can pay for cosmetic surgery eg Botox and hair treatments. Has amazing clothes.

Marries a prince.

Lives in a luxurious beautiful houses paid for by the inherited wealth of her grandmother in law, her father in law, and by taxpayers.

Never done a boring / basic job in her life, has no financial worries ever.

On paper it is so much better than my life !!

I've had to grind my way out of a poor upbringing, educated on scholarships, and get into higher pay brackets like most do!

OP posts:

I don't think Kate would disagree with you though, so not sure what the point of this is?

Pippa has it better if my opinion anyway

Whatmarbles · 07/12/2022 07:43

Wouldn't be for me!!

Having to get dressed up to the nines, looking immaculate whilst pressing the flesh would leave me cold.

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 07/12/2022 07:44

Not being able to have a family falling out with your BIL making a netflix documentary...

No ta.

iloveeverykindofcat · 07/12/2022 07:46

I couldn't respect myself if that was my life.

Rockybooboo · 07/12/2022 07:47

Have you ever seen the 1970s film 'The Stepford Wives'with Katharine Ross? Kate reminds me of that film.

sausage767 · 07/12/2022 07:48

OP the difference is we don’t hear Kate constantly moaning how hard her life is and that NOBODY ASKED IF IM OK!!!

So if a woman is feeling down, she put up and shut up.

Coxspurplepippin · 07/12/2022 07:51

Yes, lovely thread, very balanced, thanks.

I wouldn't be KM for anything. She is effectively an animal in a zoo. She will be on show every day of her life.

I hope she copes, I think she will, but I don't envy her at all.

No, that was Diana who was on show everyday. She couldn't even go to the gym without being hounded by paparazzi. There seems to be some sort of agreement with the press in place now, because you rarely see candid snaps of Kate. Occasionally a random passer-by snaps a shot of her and the kids doing something mundane like buying sweets but that's about it.

She's stepping up more now that she's PoW but she's had the luxury of ten years of only doing the occasional engagement or tour and being able to spend a lot of time with her children. As has William. Even now she effectively disappears during the school holidays. So no, I don't think she's on display every day and she gets plenty of time to raise her young family.

Virginiaplain · 07/12/2022 07:54

Never done a boring job in her life

Are you for real OP????????????
Standing around with a 'friendly' smile at hospital openings, memorial services, church services, meeting the lovely public!!, horribly damaged hospital patients, et c etc OMG her job looks like absolute nightmare to me.

Cleopatra67 · 07/12/2022 07:55

My God - I can’t think of anything worse. Permanent media scrutiny, endless tedious engagements, obsession with , frankly bland, appearance. All the tea in China wouldn’t persuade me to swap lives.

Tigger7654 · 07/12/2022 07:59

A guilded cage is still a cage 🤷

BeckyWithTheAverageHair · 07/12/2022 07:59

When was the last time Kate met a "horribly damaged" hospital patient? Her hospital visits are mainly to maternity wards or places that run programs for mothers with young children, as this is an area of interest for her.

She definitely gets the more photogenic engagements - leave the openings of sewers to Princess Anne!

Being homeless is probably worse.

Tiredallofthetime · 07/12/2022 08:00

Lol at the people saying how horrific her job is.

Have you worked in a chicken factory, going home after nine exhausting hours stinking of chicken for £6.50 an hour (minimum wage circa 2014.)

Worked in a care home? Boiling hot in summer, Sunday mornings, Friday nights, Christmas Day, pay for your own uniform, death and poo and abuse?

Retail? Minimum wage, on your feet, clock in and clock out, anti social hours, never mind a global pandemic, get your butt in.

I’m sure that I will be met with indignant squawking from people who worked in chicken factories and would not swap with KM. but come on. All roles and all ways of life have their challenges. I do not doubt being a working royal is one. But she does have rather a lot of help in looking immaculate - it isn’t as if she’s desperately scouring the rails of primark for a dress, is it?

milti · 07/12/2022 08:01

Yes - and she’s lovely with it - unlike the other one

BeckyWithTheAverageHair · 07/12/2022 08:02

Agree @Tiredallofthetime - "can't think of anything worse"? I can think of plenty!

Virginiaplain · 07/12/2022 08:04

Lol at the people saying how horrific her job is.

Because the OP suggested it was some sort of fairytale princess life. So you get a strong backlash.
If she'd said PoW has a great life but must be a bit tedious/ repetitive/ lack of privacy we'd all agree.

FleasNavidad · 07/12/2022 08:05

Her husbands roving eye must get a bit stressful by now too

SoupDragon · 07/12/2022 08:05

Lol at the people saying how horrific her job is.

Have you worked in...

There are different types of "horrific".

DobbyTheHouseElk · 07/12/2022 08:05

I wouldn’t want that life. Ok, she has wealth and doesn’t have to worry about anything financial.

But no, her life isn’t private at all.

SylviasMotherSaid · 07/12/2022 08:05

A life which involves your in laws to the extent hers does doesn’t appeal to me in the slightest . I read a lot about historical royals and very few of them in their private letters and diaries seemed very happy people . Queen Mary for instance was always second fiddle to her mother in law for years and all of her sisters in law disliked her and looked down their nose at her for not being of suitable pedigree .
i envy Kate in that she will never need to worry about money or get up for work and go on public transport but wouldn’t want a life where you had to be so switched on 24/7 but unable to speak up about anything meaningful . If H and M had done Megxit properly they might have had more of an enviable life but they seem determined to keep some kind of association with everything they left behind even when it’s a negative one in their opinion

upinaballoon · 07/12/2022 08:06

Any person in the world who is good-looking and has a good figure, according to what is considered attractive at the time they live, is usually considered to be 'good' as well as being 'good-looking'. In that respect Kate is lucky, as are many other people, e.g. Sophia Loren, who was poor in money when she was young, but had a stunning face and figure.
I haven't time to think and write about all the other aspects of Kate's good or ill luck.
I do think that she has a very attractive face, in it's slight asymmetry. I like the fact that her face is sometimes roaring with laughter and sometimes, at solemn times, very held-in-tight so that her face doesn't betray if she is moved by something.

boboshmobo · 07/12/2022 08:06

I'd hate to be her , the pressure to look beautiful and slim must be hideous !

She is adored for her beauty and that pressure must be immense !

As above she is on display every single day for the rest of her life ! Can see why harry and Meghan ran for the hills !

Bouledeneige · 07/12/2022 08:07

Yeah she's been lucky but she lives a boring pointless existence. Never used her education, not allowed to have a single public opinion, just needs to look good and bear children. Totally dependent on a man and an institution. Never travelled or lived independently, paid her own bills, done anything daring or exciting.

I know many people are now facing a really tough time and most people I know who are working at home are shivering all day and so many households worrying about paying for food and bills and keeping their homes. But Kate is not, in my mind, aspirational for women.
