Kate really has had the life of a lot of women's complete fantasies hasn't she?

Born into a well off middle-class family

Received private education. Hobbies. Makes great connections at university eg William

Financially supported into her late 20s and beyond

Works for a few weeks at Jigsaw then never worked another job again.

Pictured clubbing and falling out of taxis when most her age were working thankless jobs.

Can pay for cosmetic surgery eg Botox and hair treatments. Has amazing clothes.

Marries a prince.

Lives in a luxurious beautiful houses paid for by the inherited wealth of her grandmother in law, her father in law, and by taxpayers.

Never done a boring / basic job in her life, has no financial worries ever.

On paper it is so much better than my life !!

I've had to grind my way out of a poor upbringing, educated on scholarships, and get into higher pay brackets like most do!

I don't remember there being a gun to her head on the wedding day.

Exactly. I have absolutely zero sympathy for any so called “problem” she may face. There are other people far more deserving of our collective attention than her.

ZenNudist · 07/12/2022 08:08

And your point? Yes she is very lucky. I would love her life. Ditto Meghan.

"Pictured clubbing and falling out of taxis when most her age were working thankless jobs."

Not sure this is true or lucky. I was clubbing and falling out of taxis when younger but have been allowed to forget. So if she was photographed drunk this in the one unlucky aspect of her life. Its odd to pick on Kate as an example of a feckless wild child. If anything she has lived very carefully and had to play a game with her public image from a young age. It's been a fairly flawless one given that she goes for being bland bland bland.

The only things I wouldn't like include having to relentlessly watch what you eat and have perfect appearance and being married into the RF and William, oooh imagine those in law's dominating your life. But she chose that so I guess she is happy enough.

Tiredallofthetime · 07/12/2022 08:08

There are @SoupDragon and I know which I’d choose.

upinaballoon · 07/12/2022 08:10

She had bad luck in the respect that she had that awful sickness with her pregnancies.

Notcreativeatall · 07/12/2022 08:10

I agree both have a lot of privilege.

However only one is complaining

myrtleWilson · 07/12/2022 08:10

As a woman, I think you need immense steel and a good circle of friends to marry into the RF (into a senior position). I saw a collage of press covers and social media drags on KM recently. I think because her press coverage is largely positive now, I had forgotten how brutal it was up until she started having the children. I know I wouldn't be able to cope with that - even not looking at it but knowing it was happening and having to think about impact on your family.

(I know the same applies to MM - in this post I was referencing KM because I was shocked at how I'd sort of minimised/forgotten the brutality - it wasn't just "waity Katie")

OldReliable · 07/12/2022 08:10

I've no idea why she's so popular. She's never done a hard day's work in her life.

BlueKaftan · 07/12/2022 08:11

She’s always struck me as a mean girl type, choreographed by her mother. Left to her own devices she’d probably have married Ben Ainsley or some other sportsman.

Rockybooboo · 07/12/2022 08:11

milti · 07/12/2022 08:01

Yes - and she’s lovely with it - unlike the other one

I never judge someone's character until I've spent time with them.

milti · 07/12/2022 08:14

What a silly comment - we are humans, we judge each other all the time based on what we do, say and via body language

milti · 07/12/2022 08:15

Doh - ‘I’d need to spend time with putin/ trump before I could JUDGE them - gimme a break

NewToWoo · 07/12/2022 08:16

There's a flip side to all that, though, OP. She barely eats - has to be permanently hungry to retain that skeletal figure - she was healthily slim when they met but now looks quite gaunt.

Her time is never her own. She does have a job now and will have it for life, pretty much doing what she;s told, wearing what she;s advised to wear, having to eat what;s put in front of her, spending years and years making inane small talk, being diplomatic to strangers and staying away from home, which must have meant quite a lot of time away from her DC when they were small too. And her husband has affairs and she just has to put up with it, because a separation or divoirce would be such a public scandal.

I value my free time, freedom of thought, freedom of choice. I think her luxurious life comes at a big cost.

LittleBearPad · 07/12/2022 08:16

I've had to grind my way out of a poor upbringing, educated on scholarships, and get into higher pay brackets like most do!

Fairly lucky to get scholarships though OP.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 07/12/2022 08:17

OP, if you're pissed off about the other thread, have a go at the people on the other thread. Why be childish and bring Kate into it? Or are you a journo trying to stir shit between the two women again?

RememberFlimsy · 07/12/2022 08:17

I don't get why people think this. What's so great about being in the public eye all the time, being hounded by the press, not being able to go for a stroll without people gawping, pointing, taking pictures etc.? Her life sounds awful to me considering there are many, many rich and privileged women who also have the luxury of privacy.

Tiredallofthetime · 07/12/2022 08:18

upinaballoon · 07/12/2022 08:10

She had bad luck in the respect that she had that awful sickness with her pregnancies.

Again though, while sickness is never pleasant, its effects are watered down by privilege.

She would not have had to worry about combining work with sickness, with lack of pay, with maternity pay being subsequently effected. Her other children were able to be cared for to an extremely high standard.

BeckyWithTheAverageHair · 07/12/2022 08:19

Her time is never her own

She more or less disappears from the end of July until early September!

Khix · 07/12/2022 08:23

Her growing up life was fortunate but I would absolutely hate to have her life now. She can’t do anything without it being on the front page. She is not free at all and I think it would be quite a miserable and lonely life.

IglesiasPiggl · 07/12/2022 08:25

I don't think a life of public duty is an enviable one (and it's literally the rest of her life, she doesn't get to retire really). Being told where to go, who to meet, what to say. Not being able to just get away for a while (even when not in public, security follow her everywhere). Never being allowed to dress in anything remotely revealing if she fancies it, or pop down to the pub...

pollutemymind · 07/12/2022 08:25

I wouldn't want to be in her shoes even if they paid me and wouldn't want my kids to be in that position too. It's not the life I would ever want my kids to have. No one held a gun to her head at the wedding but the kids never asked for this.

cyclamenqueen · 07/12/2022 08:26

She is immensely privileged , and she knows it and consequently she never complains .

she is always incredibly well briefed, not just with the summary provided but deeper reading as well . She reads academic studies abc new work in the fields she is interested in and her involvement in her Early years foundation, the children’s hospice movement , action for addiction is real it’s not just fluff. She knows her stuff, when she mentioned studying at Harvard I don’t doubt she was serious . she is quite a serious person. She also goes behind the scenes, she’s just quiet about it.

She uses her power for the charity rather than using the charity to promote her own profile .

She also understands that she needs to be a blank canvas, that’s why the Queen was so successful as opposed to Charles. W&K understand that a successful monarch needs to be all things to all men , give people too much information about you and the mystery goes, you are just a normal person. She is also absolutely determined that her children will not suffer the way other royal children have.

gogohmm · 07/12/2022 08:30

She is fortunate but she is in a gilded prison - I would hate it. They all are to an extent, but those in direct line to the throne more so. Their kids have a little more freedom thankfully, but that will stop once they are adults no doubt

gogohmm · 07/12/2022 08:31

She never complains though, which I respect in her, she knows she's privileged and chose this life

Sling · 07/12/2022 08:31

This 100 times over.
Be pissed at how people are bitching about Meghan, why sink to their level and start in on Kate?

SantasFlaws · 07/12/2022 08:31

Yes she's had a huge chunk of luck. The primarily lucky bit was beingpart of a (seemingly) warm and loving family. That is a fantastic start for any child. That they had money is also a boost, for sure. It would have enabled choices and experiences that being born into a family with less money would have an option.

I'm not sure I'd call the rest of it luck (good or bad). The life she leads now is the life she has chosen. I've no doubt it's come with lots of benefits and lots of problems.
