Any predictions? Any recommendations?
(And any thoughts when we get the response?).

I don't think it has anything to do with whether the authorities were actually indifferent. British authorities are used to looking out for the safety of diplomats from many countries and of various races. I am sure they are highly competent, and use the best available strategies to estimate risk and to mitigate against risk to the people they are protecting. But whether Meghan felt secure is a different story and the focus on their safety in the Oprah interview, as a reason for leaving, would seem to argue she did not feel secure. Not sure why you feel the need to be goady about it?

Because Meghan didn't want to 'leave'. She wanted to remain a working royal but pick and choose the 'sexy' bits and cash in on her royal status. It's all in her own verbose words in the 'Manifesto'. The 'security' bit wasn't mentioned until the Oprah interview when her demands were refused. If pointing that out is 'goady', so be it.

Another vote for "recollections may vary" and "they are much loved members of the family and we wish them well".

Like most people, I wished them well when they stepped down from being working royals. Being a princess definitely isn't a role I'd want. But I cannot bear over privileged whiners - and they are now the epitome of that. I don't think they care what people in Britain think though, I think they only care about what the rest of the world thinks.

I am intrigued to see what they come up with in the next year or so though. They've done the tell-all book and documentary and they're well and truly out of the RF so won't have any new gossip to write or whine about.

Tipsyturvychocolatemonster · 05/12/2022 16:41

I just watched their second trailer. Which is just awful but I don’t get it. My recollection certainly varies, as I recall they wanted the best of both worlds, half in half our and to collaborate with the queen, so why’s he giving it all he had to leave to protect her, he was never doing that, they wrote a bloody public statement saying they were going to make some dough in America and would do the glam engagements, it was the queen who told them to jog on with that idea

We are watching the subsequent installments as we speak. If H & M can provoke the RF into responding, their gravy train will keep rumbling on.

I don’t care for any of them on a personal level, but I fucking love drama so I’ll be glued to it 😂

Lol, same!

Yes, we all are 😀

Exactly.

Why don't they see how absolutely tone deaf they are being here. H says in his trailer what women marrying into the rf have to face yet here he is adding to it.

They just have such a massive axe to grind it's embarrassing and sad to see it constantly in the media.

LondonWolf · 05/12/2022 16:48

MaulPerton · 05/12/2022 14:35

I also think that the plan was hatched from the beginning; they had no intention of living in the UK, no wish to continue/start doing Royal type things and just wanted a quick meal ticket

...suggesting that the wedding was a cynical ploy all along. What a way to start married life. Astounding. Simply astounding.

I think for Harry it was real...

loislovesstewie · 05/12/2022 16:50

I think Harry is desperate to keep the missus happy. So he just says yes to anything.

ShamedBySiri · 05/12/2022 16:55

Netflix really ought to include this little clip for balance.

Yes. It's awful that at the Queen's funeral they were allowed such unfettered access. Yes of course attend but not to be in processions, vigils and everything. If H thinks they're all out to get him they should keep him completely out of the inner circle at important events.

I wonder if that was an olive branch from Charles and William? I remember at the time it looked like a way for them to come back. I thought they might. I just don't understand the Sussexes' scorched earth approach at all.

I think it was a olive branch yes. There were rumours that H&M were trying to roll back on the content of the book and show after. Maybe they were trying to respond in kind but it was too late.

been and done it. · 05/12/2022 17:00

I think I read yesterday that William was intending possibly, by lawyers, to respond to anything dodgy.

Bluekerfuffle · 05/12/2022 17:01

Should be no response or acknowledgement ever again, exactly as she has done to her father for the exact same thing as they are now doing to his family, the hypocrites.

Peasepuddingbloodycold · 05/12/2022 17:02

Again, at risk of going off-thread, I think most of this was down to a complete culture clash and misunderstanding of what it means to be a (minor) royal. All of the hierarchy and protocol must be alien to an American, and neither H or M seem to have been able to accept the status quo.

(This is completely besides the point of behaviour since though).

I should think William is furious - he sees his wife working her socks off and totally supporting him, and being slagged off by his brother who used to adore her. I can Harry telling Meghan how wonderful his SIL was when they first met, which is why Kate has been in Meghan's sights since she hooked Harry.

If Meghan and Harry had a brain between them, them would put a stop to everything they could, when they see the 15,000 'likes' against 115,000 'dislikes' on YouTube. They must see that they are a joke to the majority of right thinking people - even those who had understanding/sympathy in the early days.

I know it's complete supposition, but I agree. The affection between Catherine and Harry always looked mutual and genuine.

This situation is a complete car crash and a complete shame.

I'm not sure what to think, particularly of me is curious to hear what they have to say the other half thinks oh do shut up and bugger off with your whingeing and live in privacy like you said you wanted.

I've seen comments in various places of people saying they have cancelled their Netflix subscription because of this "documentary"

CaptainBarbosa · 05/12/2022 17:12

I'm not sure about everyone else, but I can not wait for this soap drama series to begin 🤣

Mind you I'm the type of person who suddenly needs to clean her windows when the neighbours start arguing on the street. That's the only reason I have windowleen in the house....

I think the palace will ignore, but part of me wants anarchy to unfold!

ajandjjmum · 05/12/2022 17:16

I think we need some kind volunteer from MN to watch the series and report back. Bit like a poster did with the Finding Freedom book. We got the info, but didn't have to go through the trauma of watching.

Maybe someone else could read 'Spare' and report back?! Grin

antelopevalley · 05/12/2022 17:18

@Tara336 People said they would cancel their subscription because of the Oprah interview. It got record viewing figures so I hardly think Netflix are worried about a few random people threatening this.

Speaking of which, I bet the folks at Penguin Random House are not best pleased by all this.

Anyone with a Netflix subscription and an interest in royal dirt can get it for free in a few day's time. Why would they shell out their hard earned for more of the same in a month's time? There's surely only so much whining about the horrors of being a massively privileged prince the market can bear.

How do you know Harry adored Kate? That was The Sun's take.
In reality they were probably like most relatives, thought his sister-in-law was perfectly nice and glad she made his brother happy.

Tara336 · 05/12/2022 17:20

@antelopevalley and what people say they will do and actually do are two different things, I'm not sure I feel that strongly about it I'd miss Netflix too much 😀

queenofarles · 05/12/2022 17:24

Christopher Bouzy is in the trailer…
