Any predictions? Any recommendations?
(And any thoughts when we get the response?).

Why the blatantly off topic posts? Aren't there several threads already about Earthshot?

Answering myself is a first .

I found something on Twitter.

The winner of the Goldman prize in 2008 - there was a reference to an 'earthshot ' in the spirit of JFK. I don't know if the winner made the reference or a commentator .
No mention of wanting to spend 12 million on PR first either

The word Earthshot was based on JFK’s moonshot

Novella4 · 08/12/2022 11:09

No, 5 million in 'prizes ' ( it's 1 million per winner spread out over 4 years )
The rest on ceremonies and offices to make William look like he's doing something

Their accounts were looked here on a thread a while ago

@SirChenjins
😂 I think we all know that

I was referring to the use of the term
' Earthshot ' making reference to moonshot - in 2008 by the winner of an environmental award in 2008 !!

It is off topic but it's over now

People can find the winner of the Goldman prize 2008 and form their own conclusions.

Google and the management of search engines is always relevant re PR though

@Readinginthesun
Oh has William credited the original idea ? I haven't seen that

I didn’t see any reference to moonshot which is why I posted. Glad you got it though.

Novella4 · 08/12/2022 11:49

I don't think the portmanteau makes sense without knowing about moonshot !

Luckily most young people don't follow the royals as I doubly they'd make the connection

To slightly drag this thread back to the title “Royal Family response to Harry and Meghan” having watched the first 3 episodes I stand by my pp that I don’t think the RF need to say or do anything.

The broadcast and print media are going to have a field day. They have come in for, quite correctly in my opinion, a battering for how they stalk the RF, with a clip of a young King Charles pointing out the attention he gets/got. How they get and twist stories etc.

The other focus has been painting the whole of the UK as racist I.e. we just created Empire MKII and rebadged it as the Commonwealth. Brexit, Stephen Lawrence etc. Yes Harry’s nazi outfit made an appearance, but he’s learnt from it.

What struck me was that it was wrong the Leveson Inquiry part 2 was abandoned by the Government. Ian Hislop gave evidence and continues to make points about the inquiry not delivering the desired outcome. If I remember correctly, he was against censorship but wanted prosecutions for illegal activity e.g. phone hacking, stalking etc.

Princessglittery · 08/12/2022 12:36

I also thought Doria came over as sensible, measured, a good mum and a decent person.

Peasepuddingbloodycold · 08/12/2022 21:00

Yep, back on thread, the BBC are reporting that the Royal Family say they were not asked to comment (despite what the opening credits say) and will not be doing so.

I don't blame them. I've taken all day to watch episode one and there's really not much to comment on. I found it disappointingly self indulgent boring.

I’ve now watched all 6 episodes and stand by my initial post

Given the fact checking of just the clips by broadcast news and the papers I don’t think the RF will need to say anything.
