Camilla lifts girls arm up by sleeve cuff

I just saw this on Twitter and it is the most bizarre public engagement act I have ever seen from the Royal Family. Camilla lifts up a little girl's arm using the cuff of her sleeve.

I am very surprised at this. I thought Camilla saw a lot of her grandchildren so would be more comfortable with young children than this strange exchange shows. Camilla almost treats the little girl like an object rather than a living child.

@antelopevalley bullying across the internet seems way to high , I just found twitter worse but yes on here it can get nasty too
I think the trouble sometimes with things written down as well you can't always detect the tone , so something said in real life won't seem so bad as when written if you get what I mean
As for Camilla I think just looking at bracelet and in this day and age its hard to know how you should hold a child's arm etc
Being constantly in the public eye must be difficult

antelopevalley · 26/11/2022 20:19

@IcedPurple I do not know what you mean by squaddies. Army personnel?

It is surprising. I would have thought a mother and grandmother would know how to engage with young children less awkwardly.

I'm not going to indulge your faux naivete here.

But you really think that interacting with children you've never met before is exactly the same thing as spending time with the grandchildren you've been close to since birth?

antelopevalley · 26/11/2022 20:22

@healthadvice123 I think generally you do not touch a child you do not know unless it is a safety matter or they touch you first.

But I have seen Camilla looking relaxed at domestic violence events. Maybe she knows her subject there so feels more relaxed?

@MrsThimbles Nope not quite what I said, which you know.

I’m quite sure you said you were ND and that you wanted to learn about the RF. And if I recall correctly you started two threads. The first one that no one seemed to notice then a second one a day or so later that people did reply to.

antelopevalley · 26/11/2022 20:23

@iced You expect me to engage with you when every post you continue to insult me?

@MrsThimbles No not me.

I imagine the parents would have been briefed that Camilla would be interacting with their children and could have withdrawn them if they objected.

@PlaitBilledDuckyPuss I don't think anyone is suggesting the parents did not consent to the children meeting Camilla.

RIP Doddie Weir. Let's focus on a decent person instead of all this nonsense

shams05 · 26/11/2022 21:00

She sounded like she was admiring something, the colour or a bracelet or something.
The children are too young to pay attention to a visitor and the baby is crying because Camilla is obviously a stranger to them.
Nothing odd about this visit, most of those children were just too young and too busy with their activities to notice her.

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 26/11/2022 21:00

Oved doddie weir. He was a wonderful man.

I'm an early years teacher and I'm professionally qualified in being amazing with young kids. However, I'm sure if every minute of my day was filmed with zoom lenses there are probs weird interactions that are too nuanced to be understood by people looking on. Give camilla a break-she was there doing a nice thing and exactly what the royal family should be doing.

PineCone74 · 26/11/2022 21:14

This is beyond ridiculous. She was simply looking at the bracelet. I find it quite disturbing the way Twitter will ‘trend’ with this stuff, it is completely distorting.

Winterscomingagain · 26/11/2022 22:07

I think the close film and camera work for these visits needs to be though through. It's unfair on the royals and on those who meet them. Conversations should be private and the media, including the royal coverage ,should back off and let the royals do their job.

antelopevalley · 26/11/2022 22:17

The close film work has been there for decades. But the Queen never had any issues with it.

OP posts:
onlythreenow · 26/11/2022 22:19

Do you understand going on to Twitter, seeing a story trending and reading it? Do you understand that you do not have to find a story yourself to post about it? You can read newspapers, watch TV news or just look at what is trending on Twitter?

I never go on Twitter. Of course I understand that you do not have to find a story yourself, but at the same time just because a story is there it doesn't mean anyone has to read it or engage. I never look at what is "trending" on anything as I am an adult and make up my own mind what interests me!

onlythreenow · 26/11/2022 22:23

OP is having a lot of posts deleted on this thread Hmm MN is becoming a joke because of this sort of thing.

FFS. You can clearly hear her talking about the bracelet and trying to engage with the little girl about it. I think some of her movements look a little awkward because she is 75, that's all. The baiting on twitter is alarming.

I would hate to be a racist apologist (because for all I know Camilla could be racist). But I can’t see any suggestion of racism here.

I don’t know how I would fare interacting with children I don’t know, on camera. I don’t think she does a particularly bad job of it
