Camilla lifts girls arm up by sleeve cuff

I just saw this on Twitter and it is the most bizarre public engagement act I have ever seen from the Royal Family. Camilla lifts up a little girl's arm using the cuff of her sleeve.

I am very surprised at this. I thought Camilla saw a lot of her grandchildren so would be more comfortable with young children than this strange exchange shows. Camilla almost treats the little girl like an object rather than a living child.

She lifts her arm quite high. I think it is an attempt to get the girls attention after watching it a few times. And although gentle it shows a surprising awkwardness with young children I did not expect to see.

Almost certainly teaching her a Nazi salute, for when Edward VIII’s long-lost heir is restored to the throne 🤫

So I will address this comment to make it clearer for anyone not on Twitter what is happening with some of these royal ‘trending’ stories

Wordler, I wasn’t aware of this. It certainly explains a lot 🙄

Thank you.

@wordler I have zero idea if the prince of pegging rumours are true. But what fans of William do not realise is those rumours boosted his reputation in the eyes of a lot of people on Twitter.

What on earth does Prince of pegging mean ??

You seriously sat and watched something as innocuous as that “ several times “??

Yes, she does seem very awkward with the children. None of the kids seemed to like her and the baby cried!

How about shortly after that when she has her arm round a child who is leaning against her and she pats her back? Child seems perfectly happy and so does Camilla.

JaneJeffer · 28/11/2022 14:21

When I was small if a really posh woman arrived I would have been just gawping at her too!

Totally agree

so true

ArcaneWireless · 28/11/2022 14:29

Ah, but that won’t have been in the half second clip that was watched several times ancient gran

And talking of grans… my nan was full of sayings as mentioned above.

Another one she said a lot was that happy people don’t seek to continuously pick negatives and be malicious about another. Said in the Doric so I’ve translated a wee bit.

Going by that, as I said upthread, there must be some miserable folk, leading bloody miserable little lives, dedicating themselves to such sharn.

I’m still torn whether it is deserving of the pity or the scorn.

upinaballoon · 28/11/2022 15:57

@ArcaneWireless , what is 'in the Doric'? Some sweetie will be along in a minute to tell me to look it up, no doubt. My guess is Ireland or Scotland but I might be miles wrong.

ArcaneWireless · 28/11/2022 16:04

Old way of speaking in the north east of Scotland. It is quite particular. Most/some is fairly unintelligible to a lot of folk if you are in full pelt balloon

There is a story that forces people got a small increase to their pay in the world wars if they could speak a second language. The Doric was discounted as they thought people would understand. The story goes that the soldier proved they couldn’t.

And got the extra money. 😉

MrsThimbles · 28/11/2022 16:06

@ArcaneWireless ye’ll ken fit a haverin cuddy is then?

ArcaneWireless · 28/11/2022 16:07

I guess I was cheating to watch more of it, I mean when you've seen the relevant bit you don't need to see any more do you.

Thank you Arcane. Mmm, I think 'ye'll ken fit' is 'you'll know what'. Is 'havering' a hovering sort of thing? I once shared a flat with a Scotswoman who used to say - I don't know how to spell it - Foors yurr neeps?

Ooooh, I seem to have wandered a long way from Camilla's sin!

LuluBlakey1 · 28/11/2022 21:48

FFS OP! Get a grip on life! She does absolutely nothing that is not kind, warm and gentle.

ArcaneWireless · 28/11/2022 21:59

Havering here is - for want of a better term - speaking shite. Or nonsense if in company.

It can also be used to describe dithering/humming and hawing about an action or decision.

instead of neeps, we say foo’s yer doos. (Doves) And a response oft is ‘ay peckin’

Which is not the same as some continually pecking away at certain members of the Royal Family on social media.

There. Back to Camilla for you 😉

TrashyPanda · 29/11/2022 10:38

IMO Camilla was lovely with the children.
who are very little, and meeting a total stranger.

giving out the Paddington Bears is such a lovely idea. Warms my cynical old heart.

It was to admire a bracelet

I think it’s all fine, and if you look at the whole video, it was a successful visit
