Camilla lifts girls arm up by sleeve cuff

I just saw this on Twitter and it is the most bizarre public engagement act I have ever seen from the Royal Family. Camilla lifts up a little girl's arm using the cuff of her sleeve.

I am very surprised at this. I thought Camilla saw a lot of her grandchildren so would be more comfortable with young children than this strange exchange shows. Camilla almost treats the little girl like an object rather than a living child.

I've seen this on Twitter, suggesting this is further evidence of racism in theRoyal Family - maybe it is, or maybe off camera the little girl just picked her nose, or wiped her nose with her hand or had paint on it.

Less than 30 seconds later Camilla is with another little black girl, patting her on the hand and hugging her. The interaction in question appeared caring and tailored to the child she was interacting with.

And if she'd grabbed the kid by the wrist, you'd probably have something to say about that too OP 🙄

Just ignore. Don't engage.

I was also hoping for this. It's obsessed.

antelopevalley · 26/11/2022 18:58

I have no idea why you would come onto the Royal Family board and tell someone interested in the Royal Family they are upset. It is insane.

Camilla looks very awkward. It is not what I would have expected. There is lots on Twitter about this. It is not something obscure, there was loads of coverage about Camilla and Paddington Bear with the video I posted the one shared time and time again.

I do not understand why Camilla had to lift her arm at all.
It is the kind of awkward thing someone would do who is not used to young children. But she is supposed to love having her grandchildren around. So I assumed when I watched the video she would be comfortable with young kids and would not interact in this bizarre manner.

I would hate to have to walk in to a class of clueless toddlers and try to bond with all eyes (and cameras!) on me.

How awful!

I thought she did well, she's not naturally an at ease person is she?

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 26/11/2022 19:02

She looks relaxed to me. She's just admiring that girl's bracelet, I think.

antelopevalley · 26/11/2022 19:04

@vint I know what you mean. But she always looks relatively relaxed at domestic violence events.

Maybe you should just stop watching royal coverage if it bothers you to this extent.

I'd hate being filmed engaging with kids who didn't give a shit about my existence.

It's a bit odd... can't work out what she's trying to do. She does seem quite gentle and caring, she's not being rough. Seems more awkward than anything else.

She was commenting on the garment and trying to engage with the child.

It’s an EY SEN setting. Engagement going in as a strange adult won’t have been easy. Even harder surrounded by media and retinue.

I can’t believe I just got sucked into watching that by our resident royal Stan.

EllieQ · 26/11/2022 19:07

This was trending on Twitter yesterday because a post showing an edited version of the video was being circulated as proof of Camilla’s racism. This is apparently the full video: Video on Twitter

Interested? Or unhealthy obsessed?

Couldn't have said it better myself. I'm going to hide this now so I don't waste any more of my evening on this nonsense.

NoSquirrels · 26/11/2022 19:10

? I have no idea why she did this.

She’s looking at and complimenting something the girl is wearing. She clearly says ‘nice dress’ before the girl walks off.

Blimey. What a weird thing to worry about!

EverybodyDance · 26/11/2022 19:12

It’s not what I would have expected.

Ok then, that’s grand. People shouldn’t have to do what you expect them to. You aren’t the Queen.

Ironically, Camilla is.

CavaggiosCat · 26/11/2022 19:14

Hmm ..I'm not a royal fan of the royal family for various reasons over the past 2 years or so. However, its obvious to me she was admiring the little girls bracelet and it was an attempt to get the little girl to engage with her about the bracelet. I suspect it has cultural significance and I feel Camilla picked up on this hence the interest.
I can't pretend I thought it was anything other than that despite not being a royalist.

antelopevalley · 26/11/2022 19:14

@MissMarpleRocks Yeah looking at Twitter, seeing an issue trending and posting it on here is a clear sign of obsession.
Unlike those posters who as soon as I set foot in the Royal Family board come out of the woodwork within minutes to insult me. Every, Single, Time.
Who exactly is obsessed?

The video I posted is even longer. I saw the small clip on Twitter, but I like to be fair and post the context.

I love Camilla. She's such a a calm and serene presence.

Saucery · 26/11/2022 19:16

She’s doing the recommended light touch approach with a hesitant child. She looks perfectly at ease.

DrMarciaFieldstone · 26/11/2022 19:16

Me too. I also think she’d be wicked fun to have a gin or two with.

Can’t see anything wrong with this at all.

antelopevalley · 26/11/2022 19:16

@Saucery Recommended light touch approach?
Can you say more about what this is and who recommends it?
