Harry and Meghan - lies?

Ok I’m keeping my fingers crossed this thread will not descend into an unsubstantiated bun fight! Please bear with me.

I’m definitely no Royalist, and am pretty ambivalent about H and M but from the little I’ve read they seem to have been treated pretty badly. However I keep seeing on other threads here that their claims have all be proven to be lies, which would make me much less sympathetic to them. But I can’t find any verification for this.

So I’m asking more knowledgeable posters - what lies specifically have H&M told and where’s the evidence to the contrary please?

thank you

Thank you Roussette, but i a perfectly happy with my current posting style, which so far as I’m aware isn’t intentionally rude to anyone.😄

It seems a very strange thing to get het up about, given some of the rude names many of the Royals get called, but so be it.

I did not say you were rude. As you can see from my post.

I said referring to Meghan as 'Markle' is rude.

You post how you want but I am flummoxed how you can't get what I am saying.

Kate referred to as 'Middleton' = wrong

Meghan referred to as 'Markle' = wrong

That's it.

AnnunciataZ · 30/12/2022 21:29

The reason they still get called Kate Middleton or Meghan Markle in news stories is for SEO. Press outlets know that that's what people are googling so write accordingly.

But Mumsnetters referring to the latter just as "Markle" are not doing it because of writing conventions or newspaper guidelines! I've never seen a post about "Middleton's" new dress or what tiara "Parker Bowles" (or Shand) is wearing to the coronation.

And her first name might be Rachel but it's really not unusual for people to use their second names.

I think it's quite common to refer to a celebrity by their surname isn't it? eg. Morgan, Clarkson, Schofield, Willoughby, Markle etc etc.

But not Wales or Windsor?

AnnunciataZ Thank you
glad someone got it, in my opinion it’s a way of othering her.

So it's OK to refer to Kate as 'Middleton' then. OK, got you.

Funny how it's only Meghan dehumanised like this out of the RF isn't it?

Blip · 30/12/2022 21:36

Samcro Meghan is pretty keen on othering herself as she is keen to be known as a Duchess.

MM was happy to refer to her SIL using the phrase ‘waity Katey’ on the Oprah Winfrey interview.

That seems far ruder than a surname ?

Oh do come on!

I'm not dehumanising, don't be so dramatic.

Meghan Markle has picked a lifestyle of Celebrity and therefore I thinks it's ok to address her as you would other celebrities.
