I've been wondering about this all week.

What do people think? Would William want that ? Would Kate?

@Roussette it was there for quite awhile before it was deleted because it was reported so many times, MNHQ had to send out a mass email to acknowledge the report. I reported it twice because it took so long to delete it. I’m sure you didn’t see it, but others definitely did.

I'm going to reply just this one more time to you @notanotheroneagain , then will return to lurking as I find you unpleasant!
Yes I saw that post I think your referring to ( badly!) .
It was uniformly decried by all posters, and removed promptly, no poster agreed and almost all told the poster it was not nice!

If you want to read nastiness against another royal you just need to read the above thread.

@jeffgoldblum

A few weeks ago someone posted under a rude name including the word bitch. It was jumped on by the people that saw it and reported. Both people that support and criticize MM. Mumsnet removed the post but couldn’t remove the name and posted a request for the user to change it. Weird times. But no one like it and plenty complained.

Same thread, someone posted the picture from NYPost of MM as a toddler having a tantrum. It was super childish and that poster was called out by at least a few on both “sides.”

Personally, like I said, I have a list. I’m not engaging with a name caller even to tell them they are stupid. Because they are stupid and me saying so changes nothing.

jeffgoldblum · 22/09/2022 13:53

@unname , thanks yes I did see it , as I said I'm going back to lurking ( 10 years!) , because the behaviour of one or two is taking me right back to the awful threads and the dreadful name calling and accusations 💐

notanotheroneagain · 22/09/2022 13:43

Surely you have been lurking here long enough to know that a poster changed their name to denigrate MM. Another one showed a screenshot of her animated in a ghastly way.

If not, you better have a good look at the threads, before rushing to post denying the level of treatment she has had on here and other places. It's been more than cruel, I just can't imagine some of the things people come up with for this woman.

oh be fair. people have lives and don't see every post. I didn't see that and am on mn a lot.
I only go back through threads if I have forgotten something I said.

What a shame derxa you never ever decry any of the awful things that Meghan has been called.
I listed some of the better ones in my post at 12.09 and there are far more that I am not going to repeat.

So as much as I don't agree with awful nastiness against Kate... it works for Meghan too. Another woman, another mother, another member of the RF, albeit not so close to the Monarchy

I find you extremely unpleasant @jeffgoldblum

I clearly said those two posts were criticised because they were so obvious and it was pointed out by supporters of H&M. They are the ones who condemned it first, before anyone else came on. I also said those were the exceptions, in general people label H&M all sorts and no one bats an eyelid.

Neither am I.

But me referring to calling out vitriol about Meghan applies to threads in general, not that one.

For the best. I’m going to put myself on a RF and maybe a MN diet. I tend to spend more time here when I’m tired or stressed about real life.

jeffgoldblum · 22/09/2022 14:07

One last post ,
About posters decrying the ' my friends are poc ' as racist posts .
I grew up and went to school in the seventies, my best and only friend was a poc , we were both bullied relentlessly, she was on occasions called chocolate drop and I was called snowflake ( these are the nicest ones I remember!) . This went on through primary and secondary school , I wanted to kill myself at points as did she , we made it through together, we laughed, we cried, we had each other . To say that I'm am racist is a personal insult and sullying the great friendship we had , I wouldn't trade her friendship for anyone or an easier ride .
So sometimes when someone says they have poc friends they mean it !

unname · 22/09/2022 14:29

I am sorry you experienced all of that, and I just think this is a toxic area of MN. Don’t take any of it to heart.

Snog · 22/09/2022 14:30

Criticising someone's behaviour does not make you a racist.
It shouldn't be necessary to repeat that.

Snog · 22/09/2022 14:34

@jeffgoldblum I am sorry for your experience

Arbesque · 22/09/2022 14:52

Some posters on here just categorise anyone who makes the slightest criticism of Meghan as racist@jeffgoldblum It's insulting to thev poster, and to people experiencing genuine racism (which I'm sure Meghan has, but trivialising it like that doesn't help.)

I'm sorry you've been subjected to that. Words can be used very carelessly.

Ohnonevermind · 22/09/2022 15:03

@jeffgoldblum

I’m sorry for your experience

queenofarles · 22/09/2022 15:03

The thing is and because M is black, people often think that any criticism is based on the firm believe that a black person is undeserving of being royal, having a title , Personal protection and wearing expensive tiaras. Not true .

The Cut writer is a young black woman , reading her piece well not everything was very flattering , Then there was the CNN host who said she comes from a place of privilege.
I’m not saying that she didn’t experience racism , It would be cruel and insensitive to say that.
but not everything is about skin colour or heritage. Sometimes it’s about some aspects of your character.

Farmerazza · 22/09/2022 15:16

jeffgoldblum · 22/09/2022 10:23

@Farmerazza , why do you want to know what I said? , to see if it was justified? .
I any case , what I said snd it was long ago so this won't be word for word... wasn't about Megan or Harry , although it was on one of those threads , it was about trump , a particularly unpleasant poster brought him up for reasons unknown on a h and m thread and said he was worse than hitler! .
I simply responded that although he was a complete twat , he was no way as bad as hitler , who was a sadistic murderer , apparently this made me antisemantic
A holocaust denier , hitler and snd ice supporter who wants to kill immigrants children!

It's always tricky when posters are nasty you shouldn't have to endure that.
It's not why I was asking at all - I am always keen to understand how people view race/ race related incidents. I did not say that you were wrong. Understanding = learning for me, and I guess others who are that way inclined.

Yes and many of us went straight to MNHQ to report to get it removed rather than draw more attention to it …… if pro-MM assumed that others were ignoring or indulging that offensive poster then you are v v wrong.

Agreed - except NONE of us know these people or HER and none of us can objectively say her character is ..... For those who have worked with her and actually know her, I am yet to hear negative things about Meghan - just glowing reviews all round. While nobody is perfect - I suspect there will be one or two people she rubbed the wrong way in her life . We all have that.

The thing is that people get offended if you say anything negative about Britain or the RF - even just facts - people are quick to defend. People were hurt when Meghan seemed to shun the RF after her experience. Let's face it - this is one of the main things Britain has - at least this how people view it. I personally think there's a LOT more going for this country if we didn't focus heavily on the RF.
On another post I mentioned how other European countries have it better than us and someone jumped on my neck and said why do I live here then if there's Utopia elsewhere. It's natural to be patriotic - I think people feel they are directly being criticised.
Naturally some of what Meghan experienced - I am sure many foreigners have experienced in other countries too and even in the UK. It's not new.

Why is it unbelievable that she and her husband say they have experienced racism in the UK, bullying and lack of support from their family? If this is the case then they are justified to live elsewhere. People feel she and Harry should be punished since they have criticised what is a quintessentially British institution (their culture etc)- how dare they!

When did M&H say they were bullied and by whom?

Farmerazza · 22/09/2022 15:40

You haven't seen of the so called UK journalists/ reporters engaging in bullying etc to the point where some ministers wrote a letter in support of Meghan?

What a great post.
To criticise the RF ..some posters take it personally which I find very strange.
