The royal family

What now for M&H

I find the whole family and royal family (The Firm) aspect of Megxit very interesting.

Just wondering what now for M&H? Will they continue on with the strategy of talking and writing about the royal family or will things now change? I think the half in half out strategy on their terms would have worked for M&H but I think the RF were right to knock it on the head, it would never have worked for the RF, Harry was ready to go and Meghan was never going to just slot in with the system.

Just looking at Harry, I think the guy really needs the whole circus of fighting with the RF in public to stop, for his own mental health. He obviously has issues that he needs to come to terms with, he really needs to do this in private but this is at odds with how they need to make money now. I really fear for him the person.

If they keep going with the fighting then I think that's it for them and the RF. If they are to reconcile with the RF, how then do they make a living? I would imagine QE has left quite a provision for Harry in her will so perhaps the money making aspect will be less of a priority. I could see Charles being more open to a reconciliation but not sure about William.

Not trying to start a thread to bash anyone, just interested in other opinions.

I expect Mumsnetters will continue to talk bollocks about them as if they know them.

unname · 11/09/2022 20:13

I think it will be interesting to see. It’s likely to change given that Harry’s father is now the King.

I hope they will spend more time in the UK and find a path that suits them all.

PAFMO · 11/09/2022 20:14

Blimeyheck. A quick namesearch shows you like your Harry and Meghan threads, don't you?
Have a quick search of yourself. How many snippy little comments have you made about her over the last couple of years.
Get a hobby.

PAFMO · 11/09/2022 20:14

(that's the OP, btw, not @unname )

SpinCityBlues · 11/09/2022 20:16

I hadn't even thought about QEII's will. We'll never know officially, of course.

Farmerazza · 11/09/2022 20:18

As long as there is still room for more hate people like this will continue making assumptions and writing threads judging people they don't know.

mum2bee2022 · 11/09/2022 20:21

More of the same from Meghan I should think

mum2bee2022 · 11/09/2022 20:22

possible divorce within 5 years

Wagsandclaws · 11/09/2022 20:23

I was under the impression that H & M need around £9 million per year to live on so that would have to be quite a provision from his Grandma.

Can't remember where I read that but it was recently hence why i think they are trying to make their own way and earn their own money.

Netflix and Spotify was worth quite a lot I think.

It would be nice if they could maintain friendships within the U.K. and some semblance of a family here, I don't know how easy that is when you are sniping about the said family but who knows, now Charles is king this may all change.

I do hope so, they all for the main part seem like good sorts. All families have their issues, they are no different.

I do wonder though if M will reconcile with her dad now, she ostracised him for selling stories and talking to the press about her and H when she has not done a dissimilar thing to her in law family of late with her interviews and podcasts.

StolenWillowTree · 11/09/2022 20:38

The British tabloids and Mumsnetters will continue to completely and utterly fixate on Meghan and write 50 articles/threads a week about her regardless of what she says or does or doesn't say or do.

BalloonSlayer · 11/09/2022 20:43

I think the King should offer them the Prince's Trust to run.

I think the King should offer them the Prince's Trust to run.

I read several years ago that Charles was disappointed that neither of his sons wanted to take the Princes Trust over. That’s a shame as it’s a great charity. I don’t know wtf M and H will do.

Give it ten years and the little royals will be older teenagers and the spotlight will come off their parents.

I think the Queen might become an iconic figure of the royals, and there will be talk about which of Mia, Isla, Savannah, George, Charlotte, Louis, August, Sienna, etc are most like her and with her qualities. The late Queen will be appreciated for how she just did her job as well as she could, and thanked the ordinary people for their voluntary work. The spotlight will go on to charities and movers and shakers for social change which the royals espouse.

I think if H and M give up their mansion and wealth and move to a little cottage and write about 'The Simple Self-sufficient Life', then they could gain a large following, because that kind of pared down life is popular and considered 'real'.

elizaregina · 11/09/2022 21:16

Inheritance issue is interesting, didn't Queen mum also leave provision's for grandchildren?

I hope Charles strains every sinew to win them over and bring his grandchildren into the heart of the new monarchy as is their right.

I hope Megan and Harry feel appeased and soften on their "truths* Which they had every right to say no matter how cringy.

I hope they can spend some time here with the king/ but maintain their private lives in the US
If they did step up to do some of the Prince's charity work, that would be fantastic and perfect.

MsCGSheep · 11/09/2022 21:16

His beautiful but sensible exes Chelsea and Cressida dodged a bullet. They refused to get into the media circus surrounding the RF. I believe both are now happily married with babies and fairly rich without all the horrible hassle.

My 2 cents worth regarding the Sussexes, they will move back to the UK and Archie will start prep school in the next couple of years. I believe Meghan is the kind of dominant and thick skinned person who will carve her own path and be stronger for it. Harry adores her, which in itself is interesting as he used to cheat on his exes. He needs a dominant partner, someone to make him feel safe and give him direction, I doubt they'll divorce. They will end up much more popular than the Waleses as they will have a wife of royalty but with MM being mixed race they represent British society more than K&W.

K&M will have to make it work with them .At the end of the day, the biggest obstacle to Meghan being welcome back in the fold is that she gossips about the family to the world media. That is unforgivable but maybe some airtight NDA can be found.

A580Hojas · 11/09/2022 21:18

I suspect they'll go quiet for a little while and then go back to the Netflix deal.

They will not, as a couple, reconcile with the rest of the family.

elizaregina · 11/09/2022 21:18

I also feel h and m would have been hugely popular and more so than Kate and will because they seem more fun and natural.

However as we know that comes with the poison chalice. I don't think they would risk the press again but maybe this time being the king's son they would get more protection?

EdithWeston · 11/09/2022 21:22

The King has expressed his love for them and given their blessing for their life overseas, so I think they'll keep doing what they have chosen to do.

Their DC are now entitled by Letters Patent to the style of Prince and Princess but for u18s the parents can decide not to use those royal styles (like the Wessexes did). The Sussexes haven't announced their choice for their DC - might be a bit tactless until after the funeral - but as they don't use their HRH I expect they'll not take up the opportunity.

Pearock · 11/09/2022 21:22

BalloonSlayer · 11/09/2022 20:43

I think the King should offer them the Prince's Trust to run.

No way, Harry has been offered it before and didn't want it, whereas Edward has done a lot of work over the past few years and it would be brilliant if he had the honour.

I suppose at some point they'll decide what they want, if they both stop trying to make money from bad mouthing his family then they could probably have the best of both worlds if they wanted it- live in Cali as a family and then travel back without awkwardness or whatever else to visit or for events.

It never ever fails, this is what it's about, it always is. Why shouldn't they live a life of wealth? why should they give up their mansion? why can't they be rich?

Living a pared down lifestyle has never been a condition for having a large following. Look at the Royal Family themselves with their Palaces and riches. Celebrities who display their wealth manage to have large fanbases. They definitely don't live in little cottages.

So what is it about Harry and his wife that makes you think they need to give up their wealth?

PS: They already have a large following. Hate or love, people are pressed. The Daily Mail isn't pumping out five articles an hour for articles no one clicks on. I mean the Queen died and it didn't take the papers five minutes to make it about Meghan. OBSESSED.

lollipoprainbow · 11/09/2022 21:26

@BalloonSlayer that's what I think they'd be fantastic at running the princes trust they have a real affinity with young people.

lunar1 · 11/09/2022 21:30

I imagine they will go home, continue to preach about how we should live our lives, while doing the opposite themselves, like an awful lot of hypocritical celebrities do.

Every time they need to top up the bank balance they will do an interview about how badly done by they are.

SueSaid · 11/09/2022 21:34

All depends. If Charles proves to be popular they'll 'forgive' him and wang on about new starts, compassion and taking tea with him when they are here shining lights in the UK.

If he is unpopular they will jump on the bandwagon. For now it'll be a case of hedging their bets.

Badger1970 · 11/09/2022 21:37

We can hope for obscurity, but I've got a feeling that this fortnight in the UK will be little more than cannon fodder for their next tell all.

I'm sick to the back teeth of both of them frankly.
