The royal family

What now for M&H

I find the whole family and royal family (The Firm) aspect of Megxit very interesting.

Just wondering what now for M&H? Will they continue on with the strategy of talking and writing about the royal family or will things now change? I think the half in half out strategy on their terms would have worked for M&H but I think the RF were right to knock it on the head, it would never have worked for the RF, Harry was ready to go and Meghan was never going to just slot in with the system.

Just looking at Harry, I think the guy really needs the whole circus of fighting with the RF in public to stop, for his own mental health. He obviously has issues that he needs to come to terms with, he really needs to do this in private but this is at odds with how they need to make money now. I really fear for him the person.

If they keep going with the fighting then I think that's it for them and the RF. If they are to reconcile with the RF, how then do they make a living? I would imagine QE has left quite a provision for Harry in her will so perhaps the money making aspect will be less of a priority. I could see Charles being more open to a reconciliation but not sure about William.

Not trying to start a thread to bash anyone, just interested in other opinions.

I wonder if it every crossed Harry's mind when breaching the privacy of others and gossiping to OW, when sending snippets to Scobie, when making his digs in the African interview, the Corden interview etc etc just tough it was going to be to come back on such a solemn occasion and be amongst all the people he's stabbed in the back. He is either supremely arrogant or not very bright. Not a man with any regard for his UK family at seems. Poor Charles.

I think several of those involved didn't expect her to go so suddenly and thought they'd have a few more years to make amends.

He's a handsome boy, no doubt. But I think he'd look better if he stopped fighting the inevitable.

I’ve never thought he was remotely good looking - but that’s my personal opinion.

hes approaching 40, so left boyhood behind a long time ago.

reflexolog · 14/09/2022 16:52

It's unavoidable, looking at stills, that Meghan does have a lift to the left side of her mouth as a very faint smile. I know exactly what this is - I have resting bitch face ;) and I have to actively use my muscles to just make sure my lips aren't turned down and are instead flat/slightly curved upwards to soften my expression. But would I do it on one side of my mouth at my granny in law's funeral procession to take a better picture to make me look a little bit less sad and more smiley? Well, no I wouldn't.

Will the Sussex’s head home to the US now and come back for the funeral ceremony ?

Why would they go home now? they've been here since the 3rd of September. They will make their way home after the funeral.

If it acts and behaves like a boy.....

waffless · 14/09/2022 16:54

You are so right to ask yourself that question Jannie. I also never expected MM to come back here after Oprah. They must find it very tough.

Ohnonevermind · 14/09/2022 16:56

@Meanderings

They could fly home to see the kids for a bit, decompress at home and head back? Rather than flying the kids over and upsetting routines etc

the other royals will be working, and I’m not sure how much time they can spend with them

Seemingly not.

Sigh

Slightly off-topic, but Kate looks exhausted and has had a good cry judging by her eyes.

I think Camilla, Kate and Sophie all look done in.

Harry looks calmer and more together than I have seen him in ages. Perhaps this forced interaction with his family within the background he has known all his life, may turn out to have some positive outcomes. Everyone seemed so entrenched in their "side" and now those barriers have had to be carefully dismantled to grieve HM.

@LondonWolf I agree that seeing each other in person and mourning the Queen together will have taken some of the heat out of their estrangement. W&H appeared to get on for over 30 years, that bond won't have completely evaporated.

Didn't Meghan say something in a podcast or interview along the lines of it taking alot more energy not to forgive than to forgive? It's probably a relief to have to interact instead of feeling angry from afar.

So you DO agree it was in poor taste ? Why the sneering to me and others ? I find that disappointing.

For all the reasons I explained in my long post.
Maybe they shouldn't have, but I would've clocked it and forgotten it in the time it took for you to write your post.
It's just the making a meal of it that seems so unnecessary

skullbabe · 14/09/2022 17:00

Readinginthesun · 14/09/2022 15:46

You can mock all you like but I cannot imagine the rest of the RF will be impressed . And judging by the comments I am seeing on FB , Twitter and from friends , even my Republican husband , the general public is not impressed .
But hey , it’s Meghan , everything is acceptable …..

No - it’s because H&M are singled out for criticism and one of the queen’s other grandchildren also held hands with their spouse but they have not have had the same amount of tutting.

If it acts and behaves like a boy.....

Very true

that photo really showed how bald he is, other than the wee bit at the front.

not that there is anything wrong with being bald, I really don’t think that at all. My dad was bald from before I was born and I always thought he was so handsome.

i wonder if Harry wants to avoid comparisons with William?

Why are you so keen for them to leave?

Its only 5 days till the funeral

12 hours both ways, so they lose a full one. 4 days left.

So they spend 3 days (land back UK side the day before) with their kids and come back?

I'm sure they'll fly out as soon as the funeral is over.

I don’t think it’s fair to analyse her facial expressions at such a moment.

@Roussette are you MM's PR? If not you should apply and get paid

Haha you're hilarious!
Are you Angela Levin?

Back atcha!

The other GC were not in the formal procession, that's the difference. It was not appropriate in the setting and their roles within it.

All I will say is that Meghan is a strong lady to put up with all this. She must love Harry a lot.

MaulPerton · 14/09/2022 17:03

wellhelloitsme · 14/09/2022 16:47

Fair. Is this more acceptable?

Which is why I strongly, wholeheartedly believe that posters who so intensely dislike H&M would say...

@wellhelloitsme Perfect. Accuracy personified 😀

TrashyPanda · 14/09/2022 17:03

Oh, and btw, I usually don’t agree with @Roussette, but I reckon she argues her point with courtesy.

I thought the ceremony was wonderful. It should be about the Queen. She deserves that much surely?

It was a great service

She loves something an awful lot, not sure it's Harry tbh.

Zara was not in the main ceremonial party.

that is a huge and vital difference.
