With another podcast set for release this week, The Sunday Times has a piece addressing Harry and Meghan's apparent strategy:

Courtiers are bemused by the Sussexes’ determination to rage against the past. As Davis observed of Meghan in her article: “She has taken a hardship and turned it into content.” A source who knows the Sussexes questions why Meghan “is constantly looking back at how awful it was to briefly be a royal. What does success look like, is it a number in the bank? Is it that they’ve killed off the monarchy?” Another Palace source says: “Ultimately they are bashing the institution that has put them in the position they’re in, the longevity of that strategy is not sustainable.”

I'm curious about their strategy, too. They seem to think that criticizing the royal makes them look better - it really doesn't. Instead, it just makes them look petty and increasingly irrelevant.

I'm interested in this mini tour they're doing this week. So soon after the release of M's podcasts and The Big Article. I wonder if those two things were timed to raise positivity towards them, which would then be cemented by the appearances at their patronages and charities in the UK, Invictus in Germany etc. Seems to have misfired spectacularly though.

Also I understand there's a bill currently waiting to be read which would allow the sovereign to strip titles without parliamentary agreement? Is this actually true and how likely is it to get through? Serious questions,

They seem to think that criticizing the royal makes them look better

I thought that MM didn't mention anything about her time in the RF in the Mariah podcast?

I agree they need to look forward, their visit here includes WellChild, Harry has been patron since 2007 and has attended every single award ceremony IN PERSON for 15 years (apart from 2020 when he zoomed cos of COVID) so nothing unusual for him to be going to that

hattie43 · 04/09/2022 07:16

Other than slagging the RF they don't have anything to offer . They'll come a point where they're just not relevant

pilates · 04/09/2022 07:21

I like the broadcast of H & M’s commercial flight announced by Hello! They keep on giving.

They're irrelevant now! It's just they use Harry's family, events to try to elevate themselves as influencers when they've no qualities about themselves or qualifications/expertise in subjects they try to jump on the bandwagon of, and they just adore getting more influential people to try and rub off some of their fame - they're both fucking idiots and the world knows it - seems like Netflix and then like are realising people don't want to hear from these boring entitled brats

No mention of the Royal Family in the last podcast

RudsyFarmer · 04/09/2022 07:58

He has an awful lot of grievances to work through. I think this will be life long.

PersonaNonGarter · 04/09/2022 08:08

Most people really wished them well. Originally I thought she seemed lovely.

But those podcasts reveal how much work she must have been for the Royal Family. And he seems really aimless.

This week has shown why the RF are right to stay away from M&H - anything the RF do or say will be used by M&H for content. Anyone would refuse to meet up on those terms.

Legrandsophie · 04/09/2022 08:11

And also, let’s ask the question that keeps being demanded by certain posters of KM, what exactly had Meghan done?

I can see that Harry has kept up some of his patronages and the Invictus Games (while is a really helpful, worthy endeavour).

But so far Meghan has given interviews, written a children’s book and made a podcast. Oh and provided detailed notes for a bitchy book about their time in the RF.

This is all self promoting PR guff. If she wants to be seen as a global philanthropist then she needs to do something that actually benefits other people and not just herself and her brand.

No direct mention but it's in the subtext isn't it. "I'm an empowered woman who has broken free" etc. It's the only reason she's even making the podcast. Absolutely bizarre that an actor who married into a royal family claims to not want the limelight that it brings and then pursues a life in the spotlight

VladmirsPoutine · 04/09/2022 08:18

Wow. The hate bandwagon continues unabashed. It's interesting, out of all the women who married into the RF and had their fair share of criticism there's something that separates Meghan. I can't work out what it is. Something different about her than say Kate or Fergie. All women but one is just different. Can't seem to work it out though.

EdithStourton · 04/09/2022 08:18

Harry would be better off getting his therapy privately somewhere, and not all over the airwaves.

HeddaGarbled · 04/09/2022 08:19

She said something about not experiencing racism until she started dating Harry in the Mariah one. Not those exact words, but that was what she intended to convey.

I listened to a bit of the podcast and I don’t think it was a full royal bashing extravaganza but it did reveal how utterly vacuous and over confident MM actually is.

The tone of voice which assumes she is saying something ground breaking grinds my gears. You literally get a better conversation with the ordinary folks of mumsnet but she seems to think she has something interesting to say

I also take umbrage with her misunderstanding of the word Archetype, which she seems to think means stereotype. Kind of sums it up really.

If she had actual good content, I’m sure there’s be longevity but it has a whiff of Brooklyn Beckham’s chef career.

VladmirsPoutine · 04/09/2022 08:27

I genuinely believe if M was fully white this whole thing would look so different. So extremely different. People as a general rule really hate it, like actually despise it when they see what they perceive as a woman beneath them doing better for themselves. They feel M is underserving. I find it remarkable to watch. As a mixed race person it's really very incredible to watch how it plays out.

It's not about race though is it - she's just toxic - you can't say racism and ignore the dreadful behaviour, lies and blatant entitlement and self promotion where unwanted or uninvited

What is it?! Go on you can say Smile

LondonWolf · 04/09/2022 08:32

I really think these lazy accusations of racism should just be ignored entirely. We know it's not that, anyone with an ounce of critical thinking skills knows it's not that. It's annoying to have to keep refuting them. They should be given the attention they deserve.

purplebells · 04/09/2022 08:34

The problem is without their link to the Royal Family they are left with just themselves as context - which is an incredibly dull, uninspired and talentless couple

VladmirsPoutine · 04/09/2022 08:35

I don't think I'll ever get my head around how Meghan gets more shit than a certified nonce.

Ohnonevermind · 04/09/2022 08:37

I wonder will Meghan invent some substance for her speech as surely she can’t use the P&G story any more

@skullbabe I thought so, but I haven't had a chance to listen, why is everyone going on about it, like it's all she talked about?! Weird!

Mumdiva99 · 04/09/2022 08:39

Whilst I'm not her biggest fan. Is she actually getting a bashing here for an episode of a podcast which hasn't yet aired and which no one knows what is said. Surely that really is unfair. Of course they have to release content because that's what they signed a contract to do. At least wait to see what is in it before taking umbrage.
