With another podcast set for release this week, The Sunday Times has a piece addressing Harry and Meghan's apparent strategy:

Courtiers are bemused by the Sussexes’ determination to rage against the past. As Davis observed of Meghan in her article: “She has taken a hardship and turned it into content.” A source who knows the Sussexes questions why Meghan “is constantly looking back at how awful it was to briefly be a royal. What does success look like, is it a number in the bank? Is it that they’ve killed off the monarchy?” Another Palace source says: “Ultimately they are bashing the institution that has put them in the position they’re in, the longevity of that strategy is not sustainable.”

I'm curious about their strategy, too. They seem to think that criticizing the royal makes them look better - it really doesn't. Instead, it just makes them look petty and increasingly irrelevant.

Aren't they doing a speech here today? All other things aside, Harry's her grandson and I hope he can get there, like all the others.

I sincerely hope Harry is en route there

maranella · 08/09/2022 13:19

I just saw the news about the Queen. I hope Harry drops everything and goes to Balmoral, particularly with Charles, Camilla and William all going. If he doesn't do that, delivers his speech as planned and fucks off back to CA, I don't think the British public will forgive him.

shufflestep · 08/09/2022 13:21

I hope Harry goes for his own sake, if he doesn't that's something he cannot undo, and therefore possibly something extremely detrimental to his mental health.

Totally agree

Twitter plane spotters have noted there’s a plane with the royal call sign (I have no idea how they know these things, but they do…) travelling from Northolt to Aberdeen in the next hour. It was due to leave earlier but was pushed back. Speculation is that this will have various royal family members on it.

I agree. Whatever has happened in the last few years, she is his grandmother, and they always seemed to have a good relationship. I do hope he does what is right.

Serenster · 08/09/2022 13:30

I should have clarified, that’s the second flight from an RAF base to Aberdeen this afternoon. An earlier flight went from RAF Brize Norton - speculation is that the earlier flight from Prince William and the later flight is other family members. Prince Charles was already in Scotland.

SilverLiningPlaybook · 08/09/2022 13:33

I think it’s really worrying that the press are reporting on the Queens ill health like this. For it to be known that senior Royals are en route to Balmoral is strange. I really think this would have been kept quiet unless the Queen was really very ill.

I agree that Harry should put aside all other concerns and go there quickly.

CPL593H · 08/09/2022 13:40

Thinking about it, this is quite uncharted territory for almost everyone. George V1 died unexpectedly in his sleep and the last monarch where announcements were made these was George V in 1935. There is hardly anyone alive who will remember that at all.

I'm positive he will. He cannot be that far gone that he wouldn't.

I very much hope this isn't what it seems but I know that's wishful thinking.

smilesy · 08/09/2022 13:44

It has been confirmed that all of the Queen’s children are on their way to Balmoral. That does not sound promising 😔

Serenster · 08/09/2022 13:46

None of this would be in the press if it’s not very serious.

The statement that the Queen “remains comfortable”, which at first I thought sounded positive is now now reading to me like she is in end of life care (if you’ve been at someone’s deathbed, you’ll know what I mean).

derxa · 08/09/2022 13:48

I do. I hope she isn't in too much pain.

This

Ommommomm · 08/09/2022 13:55

Kate has not gone to Balmoral which would give Harry and Meghan the perfect excuse for only Harry to go too. If Harry doesn’t go it would be an irretrievable PR disaster for them.

maranella · 08/09/2022 13:56

Updates say not only are Charles, Camilla and William going/already there, Anne is also there, Andrew is going and so are Edward and Sophie Sad

CauliflowerCheese30 · 08/09/2022 13:58

A BBC reporter has said that they (the sussex's) have arrived.

smilesy · 08/09/2022 13:58

@Ommommomm I was just thinking the exact same thing

susan12345678 · 08/09/2022 13:59

Not sure what the obsession with Harry’s movements is all about. The Queen has 4 children, 7 other grandchildren and I suspect H isn’t a favourite

H&M have flown in to Aberdeen

CPL593H · 08/09/2022 14:00

There is no way they would make announcements like this, including information about the family travelling to be there, unless they were as certain as it is possible to be.

Good, I'm very glad.

maranella · 08/09/2022 14:01

Good - nice to see them doing the right thing for once.

Readinginthesun · 08/09/2022 14:03

Glad H has gone .

MiceMiceBaby · 08/09/2022 14:07

Meghan will undoubtedly be keeping a journal that she can publish later. I do hope the family will be more careful round her. Or can make her sign an NDA.
