As the last thread filled up & there's plenty of discussion of Meghan's interview in The Cut, seems worthwhile starting a new thread!

A read yesterday that a series of media interviews are planned to promote the podcasts. Should be very interesting if The Cut interview is anything to go by!

Was that not the occasion when Harry tried to get voice over work for Meghan ?

It was. So inconvenient for her that so many of us remember that so clearly.

Legrandsophie · 31/08/2022 18:14

Am I the only one who is bemused as to why the time after Archie’s birth was ‘such a cruel chapter’?

I know some newspapers were being vile and Thomas Markle was acting up. But what is she trying to imply here?

Readinginthesun · 31/08/2022 17:57

I am wondering how the Meghan worshippers are going to explain this one !

We're all just a bunch of racist old harpies who don't recognise true greatness when we see it. I'm beginning to feel a bit sorry for Meghan. Imagine having to live your life like this.

She may have been suffering PND and finding motherhood difficult in a foreign country. She could have brought her mother over but didn't.

ajandjjmum · 31/08/2022 18:22

That Lion King premiere caused all sorts of problems - Harry caught touting for work for Megs, and he should have been at a formal Marines event, but he dipped out. Bet his Grandfather wasn't impressed.

Legrandsophie · 31/08/2022 18:24

It really does seem that way @derxa

I had PND so really empathise with that. It is difficult to see the woods for the trees when you are that locked inside your own head. And it can be extra hard to draw boundaries with families.

But I can at least say I didn’t go on a spree of slagging off DHs psycho mum online and cause massive amounts of drama.

SpinCityBlues · 31/08/2022 18:25

I remember the christening photo. Doria was there with the Queen et. al.

I don't think the Queen and D of E were at Archie's christening, but I know the photo you are referring to, and it is absolutely beautiful. Meghan wore a white dress - I was impressed at her bravery - I was in jogging bottoms for a few weeks after my two were born!!

notanotheroneagain · 31/08/2022 18:30

Sorry, but at what point did MM name John Kani as the cast member?

Can you link that? I listened to the podcast and saw no such.

Lion King is written by an SA writer, and has several SA actors. Is this John Kani saying he was one of the ones who spoke to MM? She did not speak to anyone else except him? He knows this for sure?

Confused.

SpinCityBlues · 31/08/2022 18:31

Bingo.

And so soon.

Yes, but that event was just a spectacle.

The real premiere took place 3 days earlier, in the back garden of Kensington Palace, with the Archbishop of Canterbury in attendance.

That's when the conversation with the 'South African cast member' took place. So there.

Ohnonevermind · 31/08/2022 17:28

I see an interesting article about the South African cast member who claims he never met her much less told her that people were dancing on the street. He didn’t attend the U.K. premier so couldn’t have met her.

Its in the daily Mail - so I won’t link

What ?

So he was the only South African as a cast member, never saw or spoke to MM?

ShirleyJackson · 31/08/2022 18:35

God, she’s really embarrassed herself this time, hasn’t she?

Yes - he explains in the DM - Dr Kani told MailOnline: 'I have never met Meghan Markle. This seems like something of a faux pas by her. I am the only South African member of the cast and I did not attend the premiere in London'

HeddaGarbled · 31/08/2022 18:37

To be fair, I always assumed the ‘touting for work’ thing was just Meghan making a joke after Harry embarrassed her.

Ermm he's saying he didn't speak to her because he wasn't there!!

I await the clarifications from the Archbish in due course Grin

It doesn't matter what anyone else says.

It's Meghan's truth.

SirChenjins · 31/08/2022 18:45

I mean, if you want people to believe you all of the time then you really have to speak the actual truth all of the time. One of these days she’s going to attribute some self-aggrandizing tripe to someone who’s going to choose the courts over the DM to put her straight. She’ll go too far one day.

He has said he was the only South African in the cast. That he wasn't at the Premier and has never met MM.

NanaNelly · 31/08/2022 18:51

Just to add that John Kani, Dr John Kani, is a member of the Royal Shakespeare company and was a personal friend of Nelson Mandela.

He did however say that a fellow South African composed some of the music for the film but he was not a cast member.

Im inclined to believe Dr Kani.

BasiliskStare · 31/08/2022 17:13

@SirChenjins Or the thousands who simply think she’s talking shite. It can literally boil down to something as simple as that.

Ha ha
The woman just seems to be peddling half truths , self puffery and utter nonsense. & I think such a shame as she & H could have had a decent platform for their chosen good cause. But they must think what they think & do what they do - Some love them - others think they are somewhat making fools of themselves & she does ( to me - not speaking for anyone else ) come across as loving the connection with Royalty but using it for self aggrandisement . - everyone's choice to choose but I see her as clinging on to the Duchess by her fingernails. I do hope H is truly in love with her and vice versa - I would not wish any couple ill.

Hey ho - Ok I've said that & yes I took the time to do - off to feed the dogs - my life remains the same , whatever

Ha ha

Well said @BasiliskStare
