First visit of royal tour cancelled because of local protest

Viviennemary · 19/03/2022 13:41

Just seen on sky news William and Kates visit to a farm in the Caribbean was cancelled becsuse of a local protest. I am with these locals. From their point of view why should those two very entitled unelected multi millionaires who have virtually nothing to do with their country be visiting and expecting to be honoured and bowed and scraped to. They are no better or important than anybody else.

I don't need to be KM's fashion follower, I am well aware that her jewellery gets included in the cost .
What I know is that her wedding / engagement rings are never included.
When she wears the same jewellery on the same tour/day etc. the price of that jewellery does not get recalculated over and over in the overall wardrobe price of that tour/visit.

notanotheroneagain · 27/03/2022 11:59

@themessygarden

Haven't the Daily Fail been doing a daily calculation of cost of what Kate wore on this tour, ?

I guess they still need to do the full reconciliation, the tour only finished yesterday.

Yes, they have carefully, spaced it out, making sure it does not come out in one big lump sum so it sounds as crazy as it does.

People are asking for the sum now, so I presume they will give out a carefully thought out and worded article (reminding us of previous occasions that it's been worn)
For Meghan the internet was awash with the overall inflated cost of her wardrobe while she was still conducting her last engagement, before the tour fully ended).

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/03/2022 12:13

I thought you questioned what Meghan had to with this Caribbean trip, notanotheroneagain? Which is perhaps a little ironic given that most of the mentions of her seem to have come from yourself

As is probably known on here I'm no admirer of any of their positions, though I can respect when someone makes a decent job of whatever they perceive to be their duty. It's actually quite liberating in a way, because it involves no need to - in that awful phrase - "take sides"

queenofarles · 27/03/2022 12:18

Anyone can do a calculation of the cost of clothes and it would go viral in minutes why don’t you do that ?

notanotheroneagain · 27/03/2022 12:18

@Puzzledandpissedoff
Someone else started on Meghan, and more followed. I then pointed out the differences.

You are not fooling anyone by repeating that you are not taking sides, because you have shown yourself over and over to be on a 'side'.

Why don't you?
queenofarles · 27/03/2022 12:23

Why should I? I’m not obsessed with H&M or K&H as you are Confused.
I’m not obsessed with the cost of Kate's or Megan’s wardrobe even when she was part of the royal family.
They both are married to into the RF of Course they will wear designer clothes, and expensive jewels.

notanotheroneagain · 27/03/2022 12:26

I have seen you plenty of times on here, I would say you are obsessed with denigrating H&M, and highly triggered with any criticism of others.

I want to see the media (who are not supposed to be KP's PR) do the cost breakdown, quickly. It's only fair, since they did it with another couple.

queenofarles · 27/03/2022 12:37

I strange, haven’t started a single thread about either couple nor have I spread sheets and links ready to fire out like you do. Hmm

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/03/2022 12:40

Some of us aren't all that bothered, queenofarles, which may be why we rarely comment on the clothes.
As with the fuss made on here around bump-holding, nail varnish, avocados and god knows what else, it all seems a bit of a sideshow which detracts from more important issues

Shame about the name calling though, but then it's often the same if H&M are so much as mentioned

notanotheroneagain · 27/03/2022 12:43

I have not been starting threads to denigrate H&M either.

I, at least have receipts to back up my statements, rather than random accusations of 'spoilt' 'entitled' ' doesn't want to do the job' / insert whoever nonsense here, which all get parroted over and over in H&M threads.

K&W have been trending all week on this disaster, this is one of the few times, I have been so much on a thread about them, considering Mums netters let them get away with everything.

queenofarles · 27/03/2022 13:09

why do people treat the DM as gospel ? Like it’s some sort of representative of the whole Uk? It’s
A silly rag with a penchant for clickbait articles , they were never this nice to C&W , Sarah Vine wrote some cruel articles about Kate. Then Harry and Megan came along and they’ve shifted focus on to them. It’s horrible I know but this is what rags do sadly .

Chilledchablis1 · 27/03/2022 14:01

Strange that the DM is the best selling newspaper in the U.K. yet absolutely no one claims to read it ( although some people seem to be very knowledgeable about the contents!)
I buy it on a Tuesday for the Health pages and Wednesday for the financial pages - am I now banned from discussions?

It’s in the DM online . Is that quick enough for you?

SallyLockheart · 27/03/2022 14:30

Chilled. i think you mean that notanotheragain is obsessed with denigrating W&K!

HoliHormonalTigerlilly · 27/03/2022 14:32

I agree with you op.

But surely any country they visit has invited them there in the first place, for one reason or another?

HoliHormonalTigerlilly · 27/03/2022 14:35

And they can leave the Commonwealth any time they want to 🤷🏻‍♀️

Chilledchablis1 · 27/03/2022 14:37

@ SallyLockheart

Sorry I put the quotations in the wrong place :

Should read

( excuse - I am drinking a G and T !)

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/03/2022 14:41

Interesting piece here about Commonwealth membership: www.commonwealthofnations.org/commonwealth/commonwealth-membership/withdrawals-and-suspension/

I'd wondered myself if any had ever left, and while there are three it turns out that even they rejoined

A shame, IMO, since I've always regared it as HM's toybox with which she can pretend she still has an empire, but doubtless the member nations know their own business best

SallyLockheart · 27/03/2022 14:41

oop sorry. Wish I was having a G&T - currently meant to be working!

queenofarles · 27/03/2022 14:42

The Duchess of Cambridge mixed trendy designers with high street brands during her royal tour of the Caribbean - wearing £34,332.95 worth of new clothing for the week-long visit.
notanother here, The DM have calculated the cost for you, I’m sure you will find something to be outraged about.

Roussette · 27/03/2022 14:47

Over £34k is pretty obscene for one weeks clothes, I'll be outraged if you like Grin
If there were high street brands in there god knows what the designer stuff must've cost Shock

SallyLockheart · 27/03/2022 14:58

The designer stuff included the three dresses for the formal evening reception and came to nearly £13,000. Such events require appropriate dresswear and did, I would suggest, fulfil the brief, particularly the last pale blue one which was beautiful

Dress: The Vampire's Wife: £2,500
Dress: Jenny Packham: Bespoke, estimated £3,791
Dress: Phillipa Lepley, estimated £6,500

More obscene than a £56,000 engagement dress ?

Samcro · 27/03/2022 15:05

More obscene than a £56,000 engagement dress

did Kates engagement dress cost that much? I don't remember it.
