And I am too. Only wish I could look as good as Kate! I wonder how they will celebrate?

some people say it was reported in other countries. Yeh, it was reported that there was a rumour.

I agree and some posters are treating it as fact.

Samcro · 06/01/2022 16:04

and off we go to Harry.........

madisonbridges · 06/01/2022 16:22

@Roussette

It's all a bit sad, isn't it.

Charles proposed to numerous women, Harry did or might've done, William probably too.
What does that say about the life for an outsider. A pretty awful life that's what. Not in the material riches, splendour, luxury, servants, way... but in the way of being your own person with an opinion way.

I'd give it a go. I'd like some material riches and luxury and servants. And no one cares what I think anyway so I'm happy to not give an opinion.
TequilaBlaze · 06/01/2022 16:30

@madisonbridges agree! I quite fancy farting around in giant houses someone else is paying for, going to parties, deciding on a whim that I want my tennis court moved a few metres for the hell of it. I reckon I could keep my mouth shut in exchange for never having to worry about paying the bills ever again. I'd also love a nose through all the priceless historical stuff and the artwork and archives the great unwashed will never see.

rubicscubicle · 06/01/2022 16:54

@SallyLockheart

Any names, RoyalFan? Rubics? Are you seriously suggesting William proposed to Meghan first? What rumour mills do you listen to? More celebitchy? Isn’t that your normal source of William “facts”?
You seem to be convinced that I am some other poster on here. You keep accusing me of things I know nothing about. I know about celebitchy, but since I do not visit it, I do not quote them and never had. So I am not sure what you are on about. This is not the first time you are attacking me personally in this way, and I view it as harassment and hounding at this point.

BTW, I was referring to the American heiress Meghan Gunderman - he want to date her and was rejected.

No if I was a rich aristocrats daughter I would have no need to marry a Prince for wealth. You would naturally be mixing with lots of wealthy men anyway and would probably fall in love with them. Much nicer without the press scrutinising how you look, what you eat, what you weight, etc.

derxa · 06/01/2022 17:33

Here's a crazy thought. William and Kate fell in love and are very happy together. Harry and Meghan fell in love and are very happy together,

RoyalFamilyFan · 06/01/2022 17:35

@derxa are you really naive enough to think that just because you fall in love with someone, you should marry them? Love is never enough. And anyone intelligent, if they fell in love with the heir to the throne, would consider if they want to be Queen and live that kind of life.

SallyLockheart · 06/01/2022 17:36

Well rubics. Lots of posters here repeat baseless tittle tattle. Lots of rubbish is spouted as truth and fact so why not add that to the mix - after all Meghan and Harry haven’t sued so it could be true.

SallyLockheart · 06/01/2022 17:38

Derxa. It’s good to hear from an optimistic poster. I think both married with love and knowing what they wanted to get out of and achieve in their respective marriages
RoyalFamilyFan · 06/01/2022 17:40

Surely injunctions are only granted if you are trying to keep something true a secret?

Roussette · 06/01/2022 17:48

Oh for goodness sake!

So... it's obvious you think this and you are promulgating this ridiculous and quite honestly... nasty... rumour.

I'm nearly 63 and not naive at all.

I think arranged marriages are quite a good idea in some situations. I just used the phrase 'fall in love' as a shorthand.
God you're exhausting Grin

RoyalFamilyFan · 06/01/2022 17:55

@derxa You don't have to engage. You made it sound like a Mills and Boons story.
In reality, anyone sensible takes into account love plus other factors. My first love very young was a man who was a bit too fond of drugs. He was fun but certainly not husband or father material. My DH I fell in love with and I knew would be a good family man.
Anyone being asked to marry by Charles or William will have considered whether they want to marry that man and whether they wanted to be Queen. If my DH had been heir to the throne I would have said no. A minor Royal and I would have said yes.

derxa · 06/01/2022 18:01

If my DH had been heir to the throne I would have said no. A minor Royal and I would have said yes That's a pointless circular argument. If your DH had been brought up in the royal family he would be a different person to the one he is now.

SallyLockheart · 06/01/2022 18:03

Lots of ridiculous and nasty rumours are discussed on these boards - all the affairs etc promulgated as a fact because of rumour and miscellaneous say so. Ie “it’s widely known about abroad etc”.

So we either ban all rumours and ONLY PROVED FACTS can be discussed or all range of sly, malicious and unfounded theories can be discussed. Meghan and Harry defenders are always happy to sling all manner of rumours, insults and falsehoods around so it works both ways.

Roussette · 06/01/2022 18:10

I never said all 'proved facts'. You are saying that.

But this is beyond the realms of 'just a rumour'. I bet you were on previous threads having a go at Meghan for holding her bump. Did you mention it then?

Could you point me to where I have 'slung' around all manner of rumours, insults and falsehoods!

I haven't

I try and avoid to the best of my ability, and I have not commented on here about William and an affair. So don't put me in the same category as this sort of ridiculous stuff like a surrogate.

SallyLockheart · 06/01/2022 18:16

We seem to have strayed a long way from the opening post

Roussette · 06/01/2022 18:19

Yes. So let's just leave the sweeping statements about slinging around rumours, insults and falsehoods.

We all massage the facts we believe to be true or untrue to suit what we think. But that's as far as it goes. Throwing in surrogacy is a tad too much for me, that's all.

Sally Smile

rubicscubicle · 06/01/2022 18:23

The reason William's affair is being discussed is because it was real journalists who talked about it and the injunction he put in place.

The tummy thing is only found in the murkiest hate corners of the Internet, not journalist worth their salt would even touch such an out there crazy story.

@RoyalFamilyFan

Its also funny how the fans try and pretend William could have had any woman he wanted. When all the rumours are that various women he proposed to, turned him down.
Think you're getting him confused with Harry - neither Cressida nor the SA woman wanted the hassle. Understandably.
upinaballoon · 06/01/2022 18:40

Were there rumours of reports of William having an affair with a woman called Penny?

RoyalFamilyFan · 06/01/2022 18:50

@ajandjjmum it applied to both William and Harry and Charles in his time.

Seemslikeagoodidea · 06/01/2022 18:58

@Roussette

If an affair did happen, it appears that they have worked things out, and it's really nobody's business but theirs

Not sure that's true. Given he will be King one day, Head of the Church and Armed Forces and someone we should be revering, I think it is the public's business really.

They seem happy. They have to seem happy. I hope they are, it will make it all the more peaceful for the RF which is turning into a bit of a soap opera at the moment.

William is very lucky to have her, she is perfect for the job.

I'm unsure that an alleged affair is the public's business, because at the end of the day William is just a human being with human flaws - we can't expect him to be perfect. OTOH obviously he should act within the law and have some sort of moral compass, otherwise people would have no respect for him.

I see the RF as being amassadors for our country, and providing a certain kind of leadership and continuity, in a way that MPs don't seem able to do. Sometimes the RF can boost the morale of the country, and they help charitable causes, but they can also anger and upset people if they get things wrong. They do get a lot of money via the public purse, which is paid to the Queen, who then decides how to share it among the RF. However, they probably give a boost to the tourist industry so maybe the costs/benefits ratio balances out to the tax payers, although I doubt this could be proved, one way or another.
