And I am too. Only wish I could look as good as Kate! I wonder how they will celebrate?

@Seemslikeagoodidea I judge anyone who has an affair when married. But it seems common in the Royal Family as a whole.

ajandjjmum · 06/01/2022 19:23
@ajandjjmum it applied to both William and Harry and Charles in his time.
I understand that it did to Charles too, but wasn't aware of any longterm relationship that William was in apart from his 'first love', Jecca Craig?

He and Kate were together from late teens, so he would hardly have built a relationship with another woman that would have got to proposal stage before he was 20 - at least, I wouldn't have thought so. Even when they split up, it was only for 2/3 months.

upinaballoon · 06/01/2022 20:22

You know that little shop in Dersingham, the one with the green paint, well, you know that pretty blonde who works in there on Thursdays and Saturdays, well, there has been a report of a rumour of a suggestion of a whisper that William had a fling with her. Anyway, when Grace from the WI asked her mother about it she just smirked and looked down at her knitting, so that just about proves it. As they said during the War, keep it dark.

Isabella Calthorpe is rumoured to have turned down Prince William's proposal. There are lots of articles about it.

Isabella Calthorpe is rumoured to have turned down Prince William's proposal. There are lots of articles about it.
Just been googling, and it seems that although William liked the idea of a relationship with Isabella - and according to some, this was the reason behind him and Kate breaking up - she was not interested. She was becoming successful in her own right at the time, and comes from a wealthy family, so I suppose a relationship with William wouldn't be a great thing for her.

So I doubt it got to proposal stage!

I always thought that William was probably scared to marry Kate incase someone better came along. Not damning him for that - many of us ask ourselves similar coming up to marriage - but I do think that he now realises Kate is the best thing that could have happened to him.

Just my thoughts.

Judge away, your choice. I don't condone married people having affairs, I just don't expect humans to be perfect, even if they lead privileged lives. OTOH, I do think that ordained churchmen/women should have high moral standards, as their roles concern ethics and morality, so they should practice what they preach.

Jooox · 06/01/2022 23:18

Could you imagine tabloid/celeb gossip site rumours being brought up on a harry and Meghan thread? It would disappear in seconds.

Seemslikeagoodidea · 06/01/2022 23:29

@Jooox I think threads about H and M tend to get deleted because they turn nasty, rather than due to people discussing rumours. I've no idea whether the rumours about William are true or not, I just came on this thread to discuss how they come across to me, personally, and how they perform their roles. From what I've seen they seem to be doing well.

Kate does look very thin, but also healthy. Hopefully she doesn't have an eating disorder, but she looks on the cusp of being underweight.

RoyalFamilyFan · 06/01/2022 23:48

Lots of articles give the same height and weight for Kate. Five-foot 9 and eight and a half stone.

She may be very healthy and fit. I hope she is okay. It must be hard when there is so much focus on her looks not to overcontrol her eating.

Seemslikeagoodidea · 07/01/2022 00:59

I don't believe that Kate would reveal her exact weight to any journalists, someone probably just took a guess and it has been repeated by others. She likely knows the history of Diana and her struggle with bulimia, so hopefully she will avoid the same pitfalls, but the media scrutiny is so intense it must be tricky. I know I could not cope with it, no matter how many privileges come with the RF lifestyle.
ajandjjmum · 07/01/2022 08:54

I would hate to be a member of the Royal Family, and have randomers making comments - as if they're fact - when they cannot possibly know.

TequilaBlaze · 07/01/2022 09:27

I doubt Kate is having sleepless nights over it. I'd be surprised if she read the papers.

upinaballoon · 07/01/2022 10:03

...but I do think that he now realises Kate is the best thing that could have happened to him. Nice thought, ajandjjmum
Relationships don't stand still.

Now, we're past twelfth night so today I won't use a Christmas mug for elevenses. I know! I'll use the Kate and Wills mug.

RoyalFamilyFan · 07/01/2022 10:16

Of course, Kate won't be having sleepless nights over what I say on MN about her. But being underweight is concerning.

Moppiehen · 07/01/2022 10:56

I hope Catherine not anyone close to her does read this thread.

Posters with their ‘faux concern’ over the alleged affair (which is just that, a rumour) and now discussing her weight.

I don’t know why this thread, originally about her birthday is allowed to stand Confused

RoyalFamilyFan · 07/01/2022 10:59

@Moppiehen the OP posted that Kate and William are 40. Of course the thread was going to move onto other things. It was a pretty boring OP. What are people supposed to say. Cor blimey Guv don't they look marvellous. Us plebs could never look as good as those posh folk.

RoyalFamilyFan · 07/01/2022 11:01

In reality, I think celebrity for most women is a very toxic mix. There is so much focus on how famous women look. So it is hardly surprising that eating disorders seem so common.
I don't care what weight Kate is. I just want her to be healthy. And I hope history is not repeating itself re. Diana.

ajandjjmum · 07/01/2022 11:02

@RoyalFamilyFan

As you have no factual information on her health, weight and height, and are unlikely to be medically qualified, you are being ridiculous wasting your concern on a non-problem.
theNumbersStation · 07/01/2022 11:06

moppiehen

I think exactly the same.

Faux concern. Pouncing on supposed affairs with the usual ‘I don’t know anything/read anything but….’ and similar.

Yes threads meander but going on about someone’s weight or eating disorders is pretty low.

RoyalFamilyFan · 07/01/2022 11:11

Okay, we are all only supposed to say, cor blimey give doesn't she look beautiful?
The opening post is specifically about how Kate and William look.
