Apparently Jason Knauff was asked by Meghan to pass the letter to Scobie.

Meghan literally sent the letter to a member of the press.

I still think she'll get away with it.

Teflon coated, that one.

Dogatetheleftovers · 09/11/2021 14:06

Why is it resuming tomorrow? I thought the hearing had only just started today.

callmeadoctor · 09/11/2021 14:59

Apparently there was a text from Harry to Meghans dad that wasnt read out in court as it wasnt very nice Sad

I hope the appeal is dismissed , I hope she wins again. TM has not being a very nice dad since she married Harry. I would for hate for any of my parents to be as vindictive and toxic as him in public ( media). I obviously understand that the judges may agree for this case to go to full trial, and I hope Meghan continues to be strong because if it does it’s going to be be brutal .

rubicscubicle · 09/11/2021 16:07

What a waste of time and taxpayer money too.

They are still dragging Jason Knauf on this - thought he wanted nothing to do with this. I wonder what they threatened him with.

It's irrelevant if Meghan passed the letter to Scobie, it was hers to do, her copyright.

Even the queen won her copyright case for a speech that she was not only giving to the press, but was and did give to the whole effing world !

No wonder it looks like even H&M don't care and are busy, even the coverage is now concentrating on their online summit.

No surprises there.

Yes, what a coincidence. Almost like they’d carefully planned to both be out and about for the first time in many weeks and both making attention getting statements to divert from a court case the date of which will have been set some months ago. Grin

AtillatheHun · 10/11/2021 08:14

In what other court proceedings would something be withheld because it isn’t very nice (Harry’s text to her father)? I appreciate that this is. Civil case not criminal but surely evidence can’t be suppressed because it makes someone look a tit?

Serenster · 10/11/2021 08:19

No, it’s ridiculous deference.

Paquerette · 10/11/2021 10:14

@Dogatetheleftovers

Why is it resuming tomorrow? I thought the hearing had only just started today.
It’s now going to be three days. The Guardian has more details. It seems that TM was regularly texting H&M in the lead up to their wedding, and not ignoring them as was reported in the press. The nasty text from Harry was when TM was in hospital after having heart surgery.
Billlius · 10/11/2021 10:17

I thought she’d won. I don’t understand. Why is this starting up again?

Serenster · 10/11/2021 11:54

ANL appealed the lower court judge’s decision to grant Meghan summary judgment, and the appeal is currently being heard.

If they win, the matter will be referred back to the lower court to proceed to a trial. If Meghan wins ANL have one more court to appeal to, if they wish to try again.

Billlius · 10/11/2021 12:30

ANL are arse wipes aren’t they? Not called ANaL for nothing.

I don't think Jason Knauf is exactly trustworthy though, is he?
upinaballoon · 10/11/2021 15:31

@Billlius

( Aside:- I had to think for a while but I think that ANL are Associated Newspapers Somethingorother, whereas I tend to have the Mail on Sunday in my head. When I was a tiny baby boomer and before I became guilty therefore of everything under the sun, people really did wipe their bottoms with newspapers, cut up into nice-sized pieces and hung on a piece of string in the country privy. Then along came Izal.) I'll exit stage left, quickly, so you can all get on with the serious stuff.
smilesy · 10/11/2021 15:40

Wasn’t this from a sworn witness statement though?

Serenster · 10/11/2021 15:47

Well, Jason Knauf’s witness statement is to be made public. It contains the actual messages sent to him by Prince Harry at least, showing the clear intention was for Meghan and Harry to get information to Omid Scobie to be used in Finding Freedom, while maintaining the lie that they had nothing to do with it.

Small reminder that Meghan has signed statements of truth in this litigation denying any input in the book -later she rowed back to say she asked a third party to pass on information about her father, but that was it. Clearly the not exactly trustworthy ones here is not Jason Knauf.

PickupaPenguin8 · 10/11/2021 16:17

I don’t understand what this court case is about either. I thought she had won the case months ago? As the poster above says.

smilesy · 10/11/2021 16:25

*The Duchess of Sussex has apologised to the British court for failing to remember that she authorised a senior aide to brief the authors of her biography.

The Duchess, who has previously insisted through lawyers that there was no collaboration with the authors of Finding Freedom, said she had forgotten email exchanges with her then-press secretary Jason Knauf about a meeting

"I apologise to the Court for the fact that I had not remembered these exchanges at the time," she said. "I had absolutely no wish or intention to mislead the Defendant or the Court."

The above is from an article in the Telegraph. Hmmm 🤔

Serenster · 10/11/2021 16:46

Is that for real, smilesy? Shaking my head if so. Grin

PickupaPenguin8 · 10/11/2021 16:51

'Recollections may vary' Wink

CampagVelocet · 10/11/2021 17:11

The bit where she asks if she should address her dad as 'daddy' to pull the heartstrings when he leaked the letter was particularly interesting.

rubicscubicle · 10/11/2021 17:12
  1. As I said before, MM talking to Scobie has nothing to do with anything. She is not on trial, nor is she breaching any copyright since it's her letter to do as she pleases. I made the example of the queen winning her case despite her showing it to the world, because it was her own speech.
  1. It sounds like the messages were from Harry, rather than Meghan, but she now has to own them, as they are a unit.
  1. JK is an employee of K&W, what is he doing testifying against other family members of the rf. Is he instructed to do this? Why did he go to newspapers to leak about these members regarding the bullying case (without victims, I may add).
