Positive thread on Meghan again

Now that at the other knock off MN chat has been shut down, we seem to have an influx of those posters on here with new or encouraged accounts.

For those who are not interested in trawling through negative post after the other. You can come on here for positive news about Meghan and Harry.

Why not, everyone else seems to be viewed positively, without 'cynicism'. I don't mind taking this at snail pace, we just post on the good things about H&M, they sure seem to be doing a lot of that lately, and it's really buried under the negativity on MN.

I don't dislike Meghan or Harrry. When she got engaged to Harry I was very pleased, because she sounded so together. What I object to is that my taxes have been used to pay for their wedding, which they obviously didn't appreciate or want. I also object to my taxes being used to pay for their security. Pay your own

Roussette · 09/05/2021 15:40

I think they are paying for their own? Security that is...

Mrsorganmorgan · 09/05/2021 15:43

Roussette- Good! does anyone else resent the amount ofmoney spent on their wedding. This money could have been used to feed hungry children. If they didn't want the posh wedding, why not say?

Cacacoisfarraige - I agree

Samcro · 09/05/2021 17:46

Sorry i had to laugh at the idea that the money spent on the wedding could have fed hungry children.
Maybe the other royals that got divorced should pay money spent on their weddings.
I mean think of the children that could feed.

Mrsorganmorgan · 09/05/2021 17:53

I still feel the same way. Why are you so cynical?

SallyLockheart · 09/05/2021 17:59

But no other royals have said their public wedding was a spectacle for the masses.

Mrsorganmorgan · 09/05/2021 18:22

SallyLockheart
Have they? Don't know much about the Royals

Roussette · 09/05/2021 18:23

Why are you so cynical?

Why are you?! They wanted to get married, they had a wedding like it or not. There are far more excesses of the RF than a wedding that is going strong. As Samcro says... what about the three whose weddings have failed and cost millions if we're gonna go down that route! Or the upkeep of the 28 royal residences and palaces... and so on. Why do they need 28?! It's obscene

Maybe other royals havent said it, but you can bet your bottom dollar they'd be thinking it! They didn't call it 'a spectacle for the masses' by the way.
A spectacle, yes. All royal weddings are spectacles, no one would enjoy them if they werent!

Gorgeouslilgirl · 09/05/2021 18:26

I thought the argument was that the rf brings in tourism revenue greater than their cost. Presumably then the country benefitted economically from H&M wedding?

They called it 'a spectacle for the world'... personally I don't think that's so awful. It was a spectacle for the world. I don't call that 'rubbishing it'.

We just have different opinions on it I s'pose

Samcro · 09/05/2021 18:37

Imo its just another stick to beat them with.
Gets very boring.

I will now leave this thread. I really like you Roussette, you speak a lot of sense and I am very sorry we disagreed. I know next to nothing about the Royal Family, only what I grew up with, and now I should really shut up and go away.

Roussette · 09/05/2021 18:49

No probs Mrsorganmorgan we can agree to disagree and discuss as much as you would like!
There is nothing like trying to understand each others viewpoints.
Smile

Itreallyistimetochangethings · 09/05/2021 18:55

@Cacacoisfarraige

Perhaps they could pay back the British taxpayers for the wedding and the taxpayers could use it to buy vaccines for the poor - everyone is happy then.
But that's just it - I don't believe they should pay back the money for the wedding as the wedding also generated a lot of money especially for local businesses - but even if they did people like yourself would find something else to grumble about. I wonder what drew you to open this thread when you read the heading - there are plenty of other H&M threads. Tedious!!!
Mrsorganmorgan · 09/05/2021 18:56

There you go again, Roussette, being reasonable and nice. I won't contribute to this thread, because I don't think I know enough about the RF and H&M.

Mummy194 · 09/05/2021 18:58

@Samcro and @Gorgeouslilgirl

Exactly.

All RF weddings are considered to bring in lots of money. This gets investigated by financial, marketing and branding companies. The only time it was disputed was by a rag reporter who had no qualifications and an agenda. Even he could not dispute money was made, just how much.

The BBC paid over £90K to charities chosen by H&M, just with a year's excess profits from the wedding.

Yes, it was a spectacle. All RF weddings are spectacles.

Isn't Sarah Vine, Gov's wife. Maybe she should stick to reporting on Tory sleaze, I'm sure she is more knowledgeable .

All these reporters reviewing a book they never read.

This isn’t a problem for most of the posters.

See comments like this.

‘And I do think if the royal family no longer have a constitutional role’

The RF absolutely have a constitutional role. The Queen is the head of state, she approves all acts of parliament, it is her parliament, all criminal prosecutions are brought in her name.

The unending hagiography of these threads is bizarre.

Roussette · 09/05/2021 19:06

😂😍

On the thread title subject.... I think it's Mother's Day in US?

Anyway... lovely statement from 'Harvest Home' for Meghan & Harry's support and donation of goods.
