Harry appointed senior exec at $1bn startup

Just seen that Harry has been appointed Chief Impact Officer at a billion dollar valued Silicon Valley startup.
This feels so unfair. I know people who have worked for years first qualifying then gaining experience in their field, without a hope of a job like this. Harry of the 2 A levels and zero formal work experience outside of the army. He can bleat about the hardships of privilege all he wants but he’d never get near a job like this as a private “normal” citizen.

(don’t know why Mark was capitalised; must be cos it’s Easter...)

OverByYer · 05/04/2021 10:41

Yes his bald patch ha shrunk considerably

MrsFin · 05/04/2021 11:14

I hadn't noticed.
Really hope he doesn't get his teeth done, or anything else as he gets older.

LookAChicken · 05/04/2021 12:31

People adapt to the norms around them.
It would be more surprising if someone opted for natural aging tbh.

BalloonSlayer · 05/04/2021 12:37

I thought his bald patch had grown in the Oprah interview; you just couldn't see it from the front. Nothing wrong with being bald of course, but men are rarely thrilled by it, don't blame them.

IrmaFayLear · 05/04/2021 14:44

He’ll be doing a full Rylan soon (Rylan was once a redhead....).

jessstan2 · 05/04/2021 16:05

I didn't notice but make up artists are known for going over bald patches with marker pens :-).

Anyway nothing wrong with baldness, it can look quite sexy.

I think they have either got themselves into a pickle ( i.e. being private and stepping back - which they probably could have done at Frogmore cottage - vs - wanting to earn $000000000000000 s) Harry - my opinion only - could have done some good work with e.g. Invictus - as could Meghan with other charities. But it does seem somewhat they think the RF is something they can trade off. & whether you like the RF or not - I think this is disingenuous and distasteful. Harry was left a huge amount of money by his mother - most people could live a lovely quiet life with their children on that ( and also great granny's money )

I am not a staunch royalist but I do think they have said things which speak against the Queen & RF ( without evidence) and implicitly against this country - I wish they would just get on with producing netflix stuff - stay behind the camera and keep out of the news. But - their choice

Yes, along the lines of how am I supposed to live like a billionaire on mere millionaire's income?

I remember when they first got together it was very much reported that M should continue acting etc and take things slowly and find their feet as newlyweds and learn about royal life from the side-lines.

It's been reported in the press at the weekend that the Queen is confused as to why they say they felt hemmed in - RF weren't proposing that H&M take on full royal duties.

www.telegraph.co.uk/royal-family/2021/04/06/queen-told-meghan-did-not-have-give-acting-embrace-royal-duties/

It was H&M decision to throw their lot at a role that wasn't particularly on offer and make grand announcements that M was giving up acting to become a full time royal - a role that wasn't particularly on offer and wasn't theirs to shape anyhow.

H&M chose a role that didn't really exist and wanted to be a mixture of Bill Gates and Diana. laughable.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 06/04/2021 17:06

Well he is doing a Netflix documentary on the invictus games announced today. So at least that is within his remit. Just a shame he didn't stick to that type of stuff that people respect him for Brew

Oldbutstillgotit · 06/04/2021 17:13

A bit predictable? I am wondering how much interest there will be as I seem to recall a previous documentary about Invictus.
I would imagine that Netflix will be looking for big viewing figures .

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 06/04/2021 17:26

I can imagine the announcement today was timed to counteract a certain media hounds interview in on fox news last night. We are back to Haz the hero and how dare anyone criticise a veteran then. A good move on their part. Not much else would have worked.

OverByYer · 06/04/2021 18:08

So he’s producing a documentary about himself. How imaginative. Hmm

But wasn’t the Invictus deal supposed to be with Amazon? Otherwise he has been filming scenes for a Netflix documentary long before he left the RF.

Yes I think you are right . Hmmm

Viviennemary · 06/04/2021 19:43

Too much conflict of interest into supporting good causes and money going to support his lifestyle.

Perhaps he approached Uncle Ed for advice?
Lauren15 · 06/04/2021 23:16

As M had only managed to land one significant acting role in her career, I don’t imagine she felt too confident about continuing her career with the level of scrutiny you’d imagine. She can’t really be compared to Sophie Winkleman as very few people know her royal connection.

IrmaFayLear · 07/04/2021 09:37

He is embarrassing himself. His new job seems to be “Being the Prince Harry when you were back in the UK”.

I heard from a reasonable source that all the aggro started when M&H (or it increasingly seems the media advisors who came along with Meghan from the very start) mooted having Windsor Castle and running a separate court from there (ie entertaining A listers and living a glamorous life) and when Prince Charles gave a firm no to that one it was a quick downward spiral. Frogmore cottage and (in time) Highgrove were not acceptable. Being buried down the royal pecking order was not what had been expected.

@IrmaFayLear can you do a link please.

I have one. Loads of these stories about at the time. All just gossip no real facts etc.

Were you not in the UK at the time of the building tensions of reality and H&M's dreams of becoming philanthropic billionaires that would turn up for balcony appearances?

It was everywhere that they wanted apartments at Windsor Castle at the Queen's personal favourite residence. They had been known to entertain the Clooneys so again that was their intention of entertaining "new friends" that could be useful for their future plans.

It was known that they wanted a separate court apart from the W&K and didn't want to live at KP any longer, both of which happened. Not sure why you don't recall it from the actual events of the time or can't look it up yourself - there are countless examples of the tensions being caused with M not understanding she's a "civil servant with a tiara" and a relatively boring day job of doing what is expected of the role (which they'd said no need to take on that role, just get married and find your feet).

M grand ideas about raising Hollywood money for H&M's future direction was known to be being researched long before they announced they were leaving RF.

H did nothing to explain to M how unimportant they are as regards the RF and what the role constitutes.

The requests from Meghan advisors were also widely reported at the time as causing tension - are you not able to look any of that up yourself, or how come you are so unaware of what was being widely reported at the time here?

I see why lots of the H&M supporters are gullible as to the new presented version of events as they were paying no attention at the time. If they were aware of all the news at the time then the political and constitutional repercussions of the ridiculous ideas of the RF becoming a celebrity foundation with US links.

Irrespective of how ridiculous their ideas are, it's not their show to change anyhow. Even if W&K wanted the things H&M wanted, it wouldn't happen.

None of it was ever, ever going to happen. H&M were always going to be unhappy with what was on offer and now twist "no" you can't do that (ie politically and constitutionally impossible) to being about being "jealous" or "racism" or .....whatever gets trotted out.

H is an appalling weak and vain character for not letting M know all this in very clear terms, he thought the UK are stupid enough to forgive anything of him. He was an official representative of the UK and now he's not.

www.telegraph.co.uk/royal-family/2021/04/02/harry-meghan-talks-video-platform-year-megxit/

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were discussing projects with a billion-dollar backed US streaming service a year before they stepped down as senior members of the Royal family, it has emerged.

The Sussexes had a series of meetings with Quibi, a now-defunct rival to YouTube, from early 2019 until after they dropped their 'Megxit' bombshell in January last year.

The Duke returned from the so-called Sandringham Summit to meet executives from the short video platform in London as plans for him to provide content apparently reached advanced stages.

In their interview with Oprah Winfrey, the couple said that they “didn’t have a plan” upon leaving the Royal family, but The Telegraph has learnt that they had talks with executives of the £1.3 billion start-up before their son Archie was born in May 2019.

The discussions are understood to have led to tensions with Palace staff fearful they would be accused of “cashing in” on their status, and because the couple were predominantly consulting Meghan’s US-based team of advisers"

Perhaps have a look at some of the links - you'll see many others of similar ilk - explaining that the RF are meant to be a steady backdrop to political and domestic life.

@Samcro

First let me say that linked article clearly states that it's reporting what Roya Nikkah said.

Secondly, it may well have some truth in it or not. But it also does say that they were looking for empty rooms within Windsor.

I suspect that HMQ was advised not to let them in, because face it, they would have been close to her if they live in the same place (may even bump into her, or maybe H goes to her directly when he is told she will not be taking his calls). So, I can see they would have thought Frogmore is within proximity, but really not the same as being in the same exact property.

This was all done when it became clear that KP was leaking like a sieve.

Oldbutstillgotit · 07/04/2021 12:42

It was also reported at the time that when Frogmore was first mentioned H and M assumed they were being offered Frogmore House rather than Cottage
