The royal family

Harry has a lot to answer for.

I think Harry has a lot to answer for in this whole debacle. He's a 35 year old man brought up as a Royal who should know how the whole thing works and how to ensure his wife is fully educated in the rules and regs. of being a Royal. She was his wife, why on earth was she going to HR at the Palace for help with mental health problems? Harry has loads of experience and the knowledge of where to get help, what on earth was he doing? Harry knows full well that there is a rule about not being given a royal title when it comes to Archie. Why didn't he explain this to Megan? It has absolutely nothing to do with Archie's skin colour. Why is Harry moaning about having their security removed given his father paid £4m for their security after the tax payer stopped paying after they moved to California?
It is not the Royal family's decision whither or not someone has The Metropolitan Police fly over to do security duties.
Prince William sorted the press out when they were making disparaging comments about Kate, why didn't he put his foot down as his brother did?

‘this spectacle.... is for the world’ and made even more of a spectacle by inviting a ton of just acquired celebrities friends. The contradicts pile on. The lack of self-awareness is stunning. 😳

Maybe they need to read the transcript of the interview themselves or spend some time figuring out what authenticity really means.

redspecial · 22/03/2021 20:14

the 'spectacle wedding' thing was their low point for me too. they'd demanded the same budget as W&K's wedding, still wasn't good enough. Says it all about what they're about (compassion and service my arse).

The bot army - google Camilla Tominey,'s Telegraoh article (behind a paywall though), it was copied in the Express and is elsewhere too eg Macleans in Canada

Hathertonhariden · 22/03/2021 20:16

They seem have forgotten that their engagement interview is online in which Harry said he explained to her how the RF operates and what she was in for in becoming a member of the family. They also talked about how welcoming the whole family was.

What particularly jars is the fact he was so open about how therapy had helped him to come to terms with his mother's death. Couldn't Meghan have seen the same therapist(s).

Very little of what was said survives any scrutiny of it

foxhat · 22/03/2021 20:20

I take it you are talking about the negative posters

The ones who can't accept that there may be any valid reasons to dislike the actions of meghan and harry and ascribe all such views to naivety, racism, blinkered view etc.!

Lockdownbear · 22/03/2021 20:26

That's it in a nutshell.
Meghan might have got away with talking nonsense before including in celebrity circles but thrown in the RF and the lifetime of press coverage and it all falls to bits.
That said I wonder if the bike photos were released to the press after the interview as opposed to photos already in public domain.

CallmeHendricks · 22/03/2021 20:30

I didn't see those bike photos in the press. I remembered that William & Kate went to the Scilly Isles recently and spoke about reliving a trip that William made as a child. There were photos of the Cambridges on bikes so I googled Charles and Diana in the mid-80s. Sure enough...

Last year Catherine St-Laurent said in a statement:

"From our very first conversation, Harry and Meghan have expressed a deep commitment to improving lives and having a positive impact on society. Their perspective on the role that empathy, connection, and compassion can play in that mission is both deeply personal and incredibly timely."

So Harry and Meghan’s actions over the last year have shown that they don’t have that commitment at all. I’d imagine Catherine St-Laurent has been embarrassed to be connected to them and is doing some drastic damage limitation for her own career.

Catherine St Laurent has just stepped down as director of Archewell.
Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 22/03/2021 20:47

Love that the replacement was their UK media adviser Grin The very person that they should be sacking around now. No awareness what so ever. Brilliant 😂

SoWhyNot · 22/03/2021 20:52

Catherine St Laurent has just stepped down as director of Archewell. and is no longer their Chief of Staff.

fafadebelem · 22/03/2021 20:55

The thing is, when you have lots of money, you can always find enablers to surround yourself with.

If they are difficult employers, as rumoured, then those in the positions they are looking at will know and many will be watching carefully to see how the backlash to the interview goes before becoming involved.

In the philanthropic world, Catherine St-Laurent is well known and well positioned to talk to others thanks to her many years working for the Gates.

fafadebelem · 22/03/2021 21:41

I can not imagine coming from working with the Gates to the car wreck that H&M are determined to run. That's a high risk to her credibility and standing, and so far she has had a very well-respected career. Catherine St-Laurence is so right to step down.

fafadebelem · 22/03/2021 21:43

I would love to hear what the posters that were defending H&M think about this latest news?

I have not heard this " news" busy watching the snooker.

Catherine has transitioned to a senior advisory role, says Omid Scobie.

Which is a lower ranked job and almost certainly the equivalent of gardening leave. It means she can then quietly leave altogether without it being immediately obvious. She started in April of last year and probably had a set timeframe on her contract.

The level of scrutiny in the US is much lower than in the UK. MM is used to saying and acting will a less than truthful way. The cultural shock from her experience in the UK must have been hard. In the US, she can spin and manipulate. In the UK, she can not.

Marmaladeagain · 22/03/2021 22:22

She's gone - she's not being paid etc - she's gone for sure, just polite way of saying they'll stay "fwends" etc..... she was being treated like a general dog's body like they seem to have treated lots of other people....hmmmmm

See the list in the attached article of people that resign around these two:
www.telegraph.co.uk/royal-family/2021/03/22/duke-duchess-sussexs-chief-staff-has-stepped-according-reports/

"though sources close to the Duke and Duchess insisted that Ms St-Laurent would continue to advise them through her social impact firm, insiders have claimed that the bilingual strategist, who has also worked in Brussels and London and featured in PR Week’s 40 under 40 in 2014, “wanted out”. The Telegraph understands that she will no longer be considered a full-time employee nor remain on the payroll.

According to one well-placed insider: “I think there was a sense that she was having to fulfil a great many functions for the couple – not all of which were necessarily in her job spec.

I rewatched the engagement interview in which she says how welcoming the family and friends had been. She mentions Diana’s friend, Julia, in particular. If she means Julia Samuels, she’s a therapist and would have been on speed dial.
ImpatiensI · 22/03/2021 22:37

The lies are so crass and so obvious. I think fafadebelem is right that the interview is designed for the US audience, where the sympathy is (was?) already with M and they haven't got all the background so just inclined to believe. I notice even Michelle Obama

ImpatiensI · 22/03/2021 22:38

pressed too soon...

That said, I notice even Michelle Obama has spoken out very sympathetic to M and to say she's not surprised to hear about racism in the RF.

CallmeHendricks · 22/03/2021 22:42

Michelle Obama said that? Shock

That is exactly her problem
Marmaladeagain · 22/03/2021 22:46

If you think that's what Michelle Obama said, you've missed a hell of a lot of what was intimated in her very, very diplomatic response. That was the headline, read what she actually went on to say.
