The royal family

Harry has a lot to answer for.

I think Harry has a lot to answer for in this whole debacle. He's a 35 year old man brought up as a Royal who should know how the whole thing works and how to ensure his wife is fully educated in the rules and regs. of being a Royal. She was his wife, why on earth was she going to HR at the Palace for help with mental health problems? Harry has loads of experience and the knowledge of where to get help, what on earth was he doing? Harry knows full well that there is a rule about not being given a royal title when it comes to Archie. Why didn't he explain this to Megan? It has absolutely nothing to do with Archie's skin colour. Why is Harry moaning about having their security removed given his father paid £4m for their security after the tax payer stopped paying after they moved to California?
It is not the Royal family's decision whither or not someone has The Metropolitan Police fly over to do security duties.
Prince William sorted the press out when they were making disparaging comments about Kate, why didn't he put his foot down as his brother did?

Yeah I was a bit Shock as well Hendricks, I thought she'd be above getting dragged into that soap opera.

The former first lady said she was not surprised by the couple’s recollections about remarks made by an unnamed member of the royal family about the possible colour of her unborn son’s skin. Speaking to NBC News, Obama said she hoped the couple could reconcile their differences with the royal family, amid reports that the rift was continuing.

Obama added: “This, first and foremost, is a family. I pray for forgiveness for them so that they can use this as teachable moment for us all. Race isn’t a new construct in this world for people of colour, and so it wasn’t a complete surprise to hear her feelings and to hear them articulated.”

Michelle Obama talks highly of the Queen in her autobiography. She also seemed to enjoy the company of W and K when she visited.

I think you need to read what she actually said not someone else's interpretation.

@CallmeHendricks

Michelle Obama said that? Shock
No
ImpatiensI · 22/03/2021 22:54

Would someone like to tell me what she said or link instead of just sniping?

ScribblingPixie · 22/03/2021 22:58

Wow, so much spin on Michelle Obama's words in newspapers. I thought she spoke well about it when you read her whole quotes: ew.com/news/michelle-obama-meghan-markle-today-racism-video/

FannyCann · 22/03/2021 23:03

According to one well-placed insider: “I think there was a sense that she was having to fulfil a great many functions for the couple – not all of which were necessarily in her job spec. GrinGrin

Which additional functions do we think she had to fulfill?

Keeping the paps on speed dial
Standing in for the nanny on nanny's day off
Making sure all 16 bathrooms are fully stocked with loo roll
Feeding the chickens

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 22/03/2021 23:04

Michelle Obama:
Asked specifically about racist comments made by a member of the royal family about Markle and Prince Harry's unborn child, Obama added: "Race isn't a new construct in this world for people of color, so it wasn't a complete surprise to hear her feelings and to have them articulated."

PurpleWh1teGreen · 22/03/2021 23:04

IMO you need to read between the lines in Michelle O's statement.

Saying it wasn’t a complete surprise to hear her feelings could well be the equivalent of saying it wasn't a complete surprise that Trump complained the election was stolen.

She says she wasn't surprised to hear her feelings. Not that she's agreed with them.

ImpatiensI · 22/03/2021 23:05

So the words in that link are the same as the news source I posted? I've read it and it's pretty difficult to understand it's so careful. Not surprising if it's being 'interpreted'.

Probably making donations to various groups in order for them to write glowing statements about the couple. Rather than actually helping charities properly.

Also having to constantly justify the behaviour of the pair to the public and the press. Rather than just getting on with running Achewell.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 22/03/2021 23:12

She says M feeling are not a surprise

She doesn't say the allegations or racism is not a surprise

I think is is similar to the carefully worded statement from the palace

True but easy to interpret the other way too. That's why I'm surprised she commented at all.
Mummyoflittledragon · 23/03/2021 08:40

I think Michelle Obama’s words have been interpreted as support for Meghan and total belief of her version of events rather than Harry’s. With such a high profile person making such comments and with the Rf’s understandable policy of never explaining, never complaining, I wonder if the accusation will ever be dealt with and put to rest.

So to conclude once again, Harry has a lot to answer for.

Oldbutstillgotit · 23/03/2021 08:44

I watched the chicken coop excerpt of the interview and am wondering why H didn’t gently clarify that the event 3 days before the wedding wasn’t actually their marriage ? As it stands , the fact that it has been disproved would make many people wonder about the authenticity of other aspects of the interview .

redspecial · 23/03/2021 09:12

Catherine has transitioned to a senior advisory role, says Omid Scobie. Omid Scobie, ex of Markus Anderson who is MM's bestie and passer on of things she wants to tell the public without doing it herself, that Omid Scobie? yeah no she's gone, via gardening leave.

I hope with all this negative publicity they've generated for their organisation lately, Archewell will replace Catherine with an experienced charitable industry heavyweight, rather than someone completely inexperienced and unqualified like eg. their publicist James Holt.

This whole thing is like a version of Spinal Tap for royal people. If I was a canny Hollywood film producer with a GSOH, I'd happily work for them just for research purposes, it would make a cracking comedy.

Samcro · 23/03/2021 09:43

i am amazed at how fanatic posters who say they don't like Meghan are.
you must spend ages reading and watching everything about her.
odd behaviour for people who say they dislike someone.

I never see any of this stuff. but then I don't go looking.

GoLightlyontheEarth · 23/03/2021 09:44

But you’re always contributing to the threads aren’t you? If you’re not interested, why do it?

Oldbutstillgotit · 23/03/2021 09:48

@ GoLightlyontheEarth well said

@ Samcro , if that was aimed at me , I always thought an public forum meant that different viewpoints could be aired ?

Samcro · 23/03/2021 09:50

@GoLightlyontheEarth

But you’re always contributing to the threads aren’t you? If you’re not interested, why do it?
i didn't say I wasn't interested. just don't get the level of obsession. I haven't heard of most of what is stated as fact on here.
GoLightlyontheEarth · 23/03/2021 09:51

It sounds like you don’t know much about it from what you say, either. If you don’t read about it and follow it, you wouldn’t have a good overview would you?

Mummyoflittledragon · 23/03/2021 10:00

I am shocked rather than amazed at how fanatic posters, who think Meghan can do no wrong are. I don’t go searching for anything. Everything I’ve learnt has been on these threads and by reading all the links and making up my own mind.

Samcro, perhaps you don’t read the links? I’d say it is more odd to support someone so blindingly. People absolutely have the right to discuss what they consider to be the wholesale desecration of the royal family, in an act, which is close to treason, without being told their behaviour is odd.

Marmaladeagain · 23/03/2021 10:01

I see there's a new application for the role of "nothing to see here, move along please" at the site of car crashes.

News is readily available to all of us out there, if you don't waste time being a thread marshals you may find out it is extremely easy to add a link, it doesn't take long.

The Spinal Tap idea is absolutely brilliant -Nigel Tufnell meets Harry, the conversations would be an 11 out of 10 for sure.

The scene for the Oprah interview - I can see it now, just like the scene in the garden discussing the exploding drummer:

Roussette · 23/03/2021 10:21

People absolutely have the right to discuss what they consider to be the wholesale desecration of the royal family, in an act, which is close to treason, without being told their behaviour is odd

So Harry is committing treason now is he?

That is laughable

Off with his head.
Grin

SoWhyNot · 23/03/2021 10:26

@ImpatiensI

pressed too soon...

That said, I notice even Michelle Obama has spoken out very sympathetic to M and to say she's not surprised to hear about racism in the RF.

That’s not what MO said. I suggest you listen to it before stating otherwise.
