I thought we could have a thread for latest news. MN did say they didn't mind one or two threads. And no rules except stick to MN guidelines. It's Meghans birthday today I just read. And the Queen has wished her a very happy birthday on the royal Instagram page according to that popular Oracle the DM.

They are neither educated enough or experienced enough to lecture anyone on anything. It’s patronising to me. They have nothing to say that can improve my life.

My main interest going forward is how they will sustain their lifestyle. I cannot for the life of me think how they will do it!

I don't think it will be difficult once the pandemic is over - which will take longer in America than here unfortunately.

I don't see why the names of the friends need to be disclosed at this point. It serves no purpose other than provoke yet more speculation.

The public interest is in having them appear properly before the court, when it tries the case that the Duchess brought. Public curiosity before the hearings is far from the same thing.

And it was a nice pic released by the Royal family today to mark her birthday.

And a shrewd one - that engagement, solo with the Queen, was a mark of approbation that came much earlier for her than for the Duchess of Cambridge (something much commented on at the time)

Besides, everyone who knows Meghan personally seems to really like her. That’s why she’s had the same close group of friends since she was a teenager and why none of her Suits co-workers have a bad word to say about her.

Serena Williams is her most famous friend and they’ve been close friends for years, since long before Meghan met Harry. Obviously Serena genuinely likes Meghan for her own personality, not because she’s a royal. Presumably her other friends (whether famous or not) actually like her as a person.

Pretty sure things with Serena have gone by the wayside, certainly judging by her husband’s tweets on the matter...

Wolfgirl That sort of description applied to me when pregnant with first. Older mother, puffy, no sleep, completely unnatural mother (thought I knew it all, I knew nothing), wanted my figure and body back... but desperate to have another one. Not sure on the marriage contract bit?

How does someone tell if another woman values her figures and looks too much to have a second baby? (unless of course you know them personally)

@Roussette well she obviously cared enough to have a contract with her ex husband to make provision for fitness instructors etc to help her lose weight should they have a baby Hmm

She was very puffy and her stomach looked extremely swollen as did her face. I'm just noting that if she found it physically tough it might put her off another.

I'm not a mind reader so cannot say for sure.

Seems a few sources are saying a ruling on the five friends is due later this morning as we all wait with baited breath. Whether they can be named ahead of the court case that is. I cant help but think It's a bit of a storm in a teacup that's got out of hand. I wouldn't really like my name to be splashed around everywhere if I was them.

Yes, frends will stay anonymous for the time being at least the judge has ruled. I did wonder at the time whether the friends could stay anonymous even during the trial in a civil case. Not sure. But under the circumstances it was a sensible decision when the case isn't even going to be heard until next year.

I think it means they must not be named before the trial starts, and even then only when/if the judge permits it.

I agree with keeping identities confidential for now - because all naming them will do in the meantime is fuel speculative comment.

Once the case underway, that might change

Not surprised that the judge decided to keep the names of the friends secret because they didn't want the trial to turn into more of a media circus than it already will be when it begins.

He may well allow reporting of the trial to include their names. She’s won, “for the time being at least”. That certainly leaves the door open for the trial to be open to the media and the names available.

I can't see it matters that much who the friends are. I can't see it's very likely we'll have even heard of most of the five far less know anything about them. I don't see why their lives should be put under a microscope.
