I thought we could have a thread for latest news. MN did say they didn't mind one or two threads. And no rules except stick to MN guidelines. It's Meghans birthday today I just read. And the Queen has wished her a very happy birthday on the royal Instagram page according to that popular Oracle the DM.

If Harry and Meghan continue to insist that they had no direct input into this book then they are blatant liars. There is no way in hell anyone could have told Scobie what Harry said to the Queen except them.

Frankly their behaviour is shameful. Not only have they disrespected the UK by accusing the entire population of being racist, they have also disrespected the Monarchy and Harry’s Family. As far as I am concerned they should have the titles removed and they should make their own way from here on. After all, what benefits do we get from them?

I agree and in answer to your question, What benefits do we get from them. NOTHING. NOTHING at all. They're a laughing stock now. And proven liars.

@wizzbangfizz

Harry really doesn't come out of this looking good at all Shockwhilst she comes out calm and elegance personified.
I wonder why that would be the aim?
BottomOfMyPencilCase · 17/08/2020 11:34

The more pages are leaked, the more I think the RF will be glad they left so quickly. Imagine how many more personal details and security information could have been leaked if they had stayed longer.

Obviously Harry has lived in the RF all his life so will know everything about their routines, security, the location of the vault with the jewels etc Hmm but I'm hopeful growing up in the RF also makes him realise why it's important not to leak everything he knows.

All the tiny details included in the book remind me of the celebs who steal toilet roll from Buckingham Palace. There's a sense of desperately trying to prove you've been there and had amazing access.

Shabooma · 17/08/2020 11:37

It’s very interesting how Harry allegedly didn’t like William describing Meghan as “this girl,” and yet it is widely reported today that Harry uses the term “this woman” when complaining about the Queen’s dresser, Angela. Hmm.

KatherineParr4 · 17/08/2020 11:40

'This woman'. If HM gets to hear about that she will be spitting nails. another example of lack of manners/entitlement/rudeness.

BalloonSlayer · 17/08/2020 11:50

Well Harry was clearly intending to be dismissive when he used the term "this woman," he was obviously angry. Again.

William supposedly wasn't angry, just dismissive. Still using the term "this girl," ie implying it's not worth learning her name yet, when Harry has decided she's the love of his life. It would have annoyed me too;

"But she's THE ONE!"

"Yeah, yeah, it'll be someone else next week."

Completely agree.

How anyone can now believe a word these two say is beyond me.

Intimate details being leaked left right and center. I suspect the 'review' will be short and sharp. If Charles wants to enable his son that's his business, but some tough love is needed here imo. The tax payers shouldn't be expected to support these two spoiled brats.

Quite so
Though unfortunately Harry will already be privy to enough information to fill several volumes, and from what we've seen of his judgement I rather doubt he has the discretion to know what's best kept to himself

Oldbutstillgotit · 17/08/2020 12:19

Reading the latest from Omid , I think this whole situation is becoming more nasty by the day . H and M’s bitterness towards the RF is not healthy.

For various reasons I think the RF will be horrified about the time of HM’s bath time on the Royal Train being published.
I have always wanted H and M to be happy but their continued grievance agenda suggests otherwise.

StartupRepair · 17/08/2020 12:36

In all Omid's interviews has anyone actually asked him how he knows what Harry and the Queen said to each other?

BottomOfMyPencilCase · 17/08/2020 13:06

Harry should make a statement saying he is appalled at Omid speaking on behalf of his (Harry's) family and about his family relationships including with his brother.

If I was famous and told a friend that I had fallen out with my brother, I wouldn't expect that to end up being discussed on national TV. And if it was, I would be very quick to make clear I did not authorise that leak.

Oldbutstillgotit · 17/08/2020 13:12

I agree that H and M should issue a statement and the fact they haven’t speaks volumes .

Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/08/2020 13:19

Harry should make a statement saying he is appalled at Omid speaking on behalf of his (Harry's) family and about his family relationships including with his brother

Wouldn't that be a bit awkward, when Harry himself went on TV effectively saying the same thing?

And I've not watched any of the ghastly Scobie's interviews, but since he's been quoted using "legal reasons" to avoid awkward questions, isn't it likely he'd do the same if asked "how he knew such-and-such"?

Thisfucker · 17/08/2020 13:45

You're right @Oldbutstillgotit It does speak volumes.
Viviennemary · 17/08/2020 13:59

So if a conversation took place between Harry and the Queen and Harry didn't tell. Did the Queen tell Scobie on a special hotline. Or was the palace bugged. Or a servant eavesdropping. I think a statement should be issued to clarify things. But it won't be.

Honestly everything about this book is so ludicrous, from the saccharine prose to the petty gripes. It's inconceivable that H and M didn't assist the writers. More importantly, the public believes they did. The couple should be issuing a strongly worded denial, but they haven't and we can all guess why. This latest claim about how H spoke to his dgm is utterly disgracefu, never mind his arrogant attitude to a woman just doing her job. I wish PC would cut them off.

The80sweregreat · 17/08/2020 14:20

I wonder if Prince Harry will come back to the UK when his grand parents die for their funerals , or be instructed to stay away?
I'm sad that they all don't speak to each other as they always seemed to get on well before and Kate seemed to light up in his company at times. It's sad it's gone sour , and this book won't help matters one bit.
I bet both of them did collaborate with the authors on some of it at least. It does appear to have their mitts all over it from what I've seen online.

Mominatrix · 17/08/2020 14:26

From the New York Post review of their book, looks like it is not just the UK audience which has not been swayed by this poorly thought out hagiography.

""Harry and Meghan, on the other hand, have reached peak entitlement. They may be the whiniest millennials on the planet, their delusional book depicting them as two perfect beings who can’t understand why everyone else a) won’t worship them and b) leave them alone.

If not so poorly written, “Finding Freedom” would be high comedy."

If they did not have a hand in writing this book, I would sue - they have been awfully quick on the trigger to do so in other, less impactful, instances.

MissEliza · 17/08/2020 14:33

@Mominatrix I'd never heard of a 'hagiography' before. I looked it up - what an appropriate way to describe it.

ThaGugaBlasta · 17/08/2020 14:34

I'd love to know what the libel read on Finding Freedom came back with. And what, if anything, they were told to take out.

diddl · 17/08/2020 14:48

Obviously don't know anyone involved, but find it hard to believe that Harry would speak to his GM like that.

Such disrespect & nastiness.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/08/2020 14:54

I wonder if Prince Harry will come back to the UK when his grand parents die for their funerals , or be instructed to stay away?

I'd expect that would depend on when they happen. A few years could allow an awful lot of things to settle down, whereas H putting in an appearance while there's a lot of bad blood flying about could be more difficult

But whether HMQ and Philip have enough years left to allow for that "settling down" is anyone's guess

YouSayWhat · 17/08/2020 14:58

They will both come back and there will be a cacophonous sound of gritted teeth.
