I think it was a royal reporter commenting, but it may well have been speculation.

OVienna · 08/05/2020 18:58

Yes they may be innocent. I'm neutral on the truth of this story.

I can still froth against the activity though.

Oh yes, with you there!

I wonder what Harry is doing for his VE Day? It seems to add to the difficulty of his situation to be sitting out this major anniversity, at a time of national crisis, while other royals are doing what they're supposed to do in the eyes of the public.

I didn't bother watching the video and have no comment to make about that.

Lordfrontpaw · 08/05/2020 19:59

But they aren’t royal now though are they?

LolaSmiles · 08/05/2020 20:09

Notmyrealname855
That's quite an over the top response.

For what it's worth I totally stand by what I've said: it's wrong to comment on a child or speculate about parenting ability, but totally hypocritical of the pair of them to make a huge drama about their need for privacy and Archie needing to grow up in private whilst courting attention at any given opportunity.

I've always felt neutral towards the couple, respected their desire to step out of life in the spotlight as senior royals, and wished them happiness in their chosen path in life, but I find their recent actions to smack of attention-seeking hypocrisy.

iVampire · 08/05/2020 20:13

I doubt Prince Harry would be doing anything for VE Day

a) most events have been sharply curtailed
b) the only Royals who have had a public engagement today is PoW and Duchess of Cornwall representing HMQ (who will address nation tonight)
c) even though other royals might have been doing less publicised events for their military roles, Prince Harry’s honorary appointments are currently in abeyance so he had no role.
d) his military charities are concerned with more recent conflicts, so no VE Day role
e) he has not yet established relationships with US military entities such that he would have a role in their commemorations (even if they were taking place as RL events)

EveryoneNoOne · 08/05/2020 22:56

Good Lord. They are back on the private jets again.

Lordfrontpaw · 08/05/2020 22:58

I do hope they are offsetting that. 🙄and that it was essential travel 🙄🙄

RosesandIris · 08/05/2020 23:04

What? When?

I think this is the story about their daring escape from the privations of a luxury mansion in Vancouver to FREEDOM in a luxury mansion in Hollywood.

Winterlife · 08/05/2020 23:21

FREEDOM in a luxury mansion in Hollywood

All on someone else's dime.

Nanalisa60 · 08/05/2020 23:42

Do you think they will be using the air conditioning in that big Hollywood mansion?

Skybluepink123 · 09/05/2020 01:39

They’re really hypocritical, using private jets. I don’t think they care how they’re seen as long as they have free rein.

Winterlife · 09/05/2020 03:33

The plane they used had to fly to Victoria to pick them up, and then back.

So much for the environment.

Live as you wish, I don’t care. It’s the blatant hypocrisy I can’t stand.

TheClootieDumplin · 09/05/2020 05:18

I would hope so.

Just as I would hope people in cold climates heat their home in the winter.

RosesandIris · 09/05/2020 05:32

Not very environmentally friendly though is it?

I used to live in Florida in a house with no air con. It was absolutely fine, despite not being an actual mansion which would stay much cooler.
But I’m sure they won’t have it on because that would contradict their beliefs.

I think it’s good they’ve written a book. Be interesting to compare it to whatever happens 10 years from now.
Weirdly I can see Meghan on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills with little cameos from Harry and Arch . It’s formula is slightly past it actresses who promote their own fashion/ accessories/ restaurant/ charity venture. I think being in a movie that flops would be too embarrassing for her. She’s a bit young - 45+ is the demographic but watch out in five years or so...

LaMarschallin · 09/05/2020 06:03

I suppose the point about the air conditioning is are they air conditioning the whole place for just a few people, who really only need to live in part of it?

As regards heating, for example, we keep the radiator turned off in the spare room (and the door to it shut) unless it's being used.
Three of them plus minimal staff can't need to use all of that mansion.

But I guess we'll never know what they're actually doing about it. My money would be on them using the air conditioning fully and not really thinking about it.

TheClootieDumplin · 09/05/2020 06:27

I think the point is that someone just wanted to be ridiculous.

Does a whole house have to be cooled in order for a few rooms or a specific part of it to be cooled? No. Not at all. You could have a home with 80 rooms in it and only cool one of them of that's what you wanted to do.

Are they living in the whole of the house? I doubt it. I think it's more likely they're in a wing of it that's used for guests. You can see from the layout in the picture that it's very much divided into parts.

But I guess we'll never know what they're actually doing about it. My money would be on them using the air conditioning fully and not really thinking about it

Of course that would be your guess.

LaMarschallin · 09/05/2020 06:34

Of course that would be your guess.

And of course that would be your response.
