"Effective March 31, 2020, no other Royal communications representatives act on behalf of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, including Palace spokespeople, Household representatives nor Royal sources," reads the memo.
More specifically, it noted: "Going forward, Buckingham Palace will no longer comment/guide on Sussex related enquiries."
Their communications will be managed by both the US-based agency Sunshine Sachs and the UK-based James Holt while they build out a new team.

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex would prefer that in the immediate weeks and months, the focus remains on the global response to COVID-19. However, we recognise there are outstanding questions relating to their future beyond their Household transition deadline," reads the statement.
"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will spend the next few months focusing on their family and continuing to do what they can, safely and privately, to support and work with their pre-existing charitable commitments while developing their future non-profit organisation."

FannyCann · 30/03/2020 19:58

Well, they're going to run out of money, pure and simple.
Who would have thought that 35 million quid wouldn't be enough?

The expenses mounting up makes my hair stand on end. Housing, flights, staff, expensive PR people, Meghan's wardrobe, flying make up artists and hairdressers around the world, and that's all without paying for the security. Are they still suing the DM?
The must be burning through it faster than an Australian wildfire. Or a Californian one. Also, thanks to coronavirus and the hit the stock market is taking, that £35m is probably worth about half that by now.

ARoseInHarlem · 30/03/2020 19:59

No other royal comms reps will act on behalf of Sussexes, “including Palace spokespeople, household representatives nor royal sources.”

This is going to be a bad thing for them! There won’t be anyone to protect them. They’ll be totally unfiltered, which they think is a good thing (nobody spreading mistruths about them) but which will end up working against them because they’ve nothing to say and don’t know it (despite all the comments on their IG posts). What a pair of idiots. They’ve no idea how cold it is out there. They’re being preyed on by people who see $$$ in the H&M brand.

The bit about using the next few months to work on their existing charitable commitments: this is going to unleash a veritable family album of “humble”, “discreet”, “low key” appearances in mufti of the sort we saw when MM visited (not) that women’s refuge in Vancouver.

Their new venture is going to be all about them doing good. Photos of them doing good deeds, hashtags galore, but all about them and their marvelousness.

How are they going to make money out of this??

HarryDaylight · 30/03/2020 19:59

In other words, they're not repaying any money back to the UK taxpayers and have no intention of disclosing who is liable for their massive security bill.
Total scunners.

DandyPenguin · 30/03/2020 20:01

I've looked at their post again courtesy of O'Scobie (as I call him).

It's so self-aggrandising.

Thanking people for "the shared commitment to the good in the world".
What does that mean? They not Jesus. Or Oprah. Or a presidential candidate whose been voted into office in Canada. They're not in the position they're in because they're good people doing good work - not that I'm saying they're not good people, but their goodness is irrelevant to their role as royals. (Exhibit A: Prince Andrew).

And they're focusing this new chapter on how they "can best contribute" to the global shift in the world.

The ego on 'em is just immense.

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 30/03/2020 20:13

According to O Scobie, "Though Harry and Meghan are clearly focused on their new chapter, don't expect to hear much from them over the next few months...".

Dare we hope...?

Hamsterian · 30/03/2020 20:17

Omg when I think they’ve hit the bottom, they keep going lower. I can’t believe how self-aggrandising and full of self-importance that message is. They really don’t have a clue, do they! They are a parody of themselves

Lordfrontpaw · 30/03/2020 20:18

So what do you do? Well I was royal but I’m not now...

CallmeAngelina · 30/03/2020 20:21

"focusing on their family?"
Isn't that what we're all doing at the moment? Sitting around on our arses, getting depressed and eating and drinking too much?

Wheresthebeach · 30/03/2020 20:21

The press in North America has already started to turn on them. MM will try to do a ‘sympathy’ interview with Oprah...Which will be cringeworthy.

I do love the dig at Buckingham palace. There was no need to list all the people who aren’t able to talk for them now - its just so childish.

caringcarer · 30/03/2020 20:29

I read today they have now repaid money for Frog house and have no intention of asking Trump for security as they 'have sourced private security'. I expect that means Charles is paying. Harry said 'Trump has blood on his hands' and Meagain refused to meet him when he came to UK. Trump must have loved to be able to tweet they should pay for own security. Harry won't be able to work in US as no green card. He will have to liquidise some of his inheritance or Meagain use savings to pay. I can't feel sorry for the pair with millions in bank.

ButteryPuffin · 30/03/2020 20:30

That does seem massively OTT. They have no radar for when less is more. And yes, it does look childish to keep lashing out at the Palace.

ButteryPuffin · 30/03/2020 20:31

Where's it been said that they have repaid the Frogmore House money? Is this another leak from 'trusted friends'?

DateLoaf · 30/03/2020 20:32

If H&M don’t want to come back to their old UK jobs out of duty during an unprecedented health emergency, they can’t be taken seriously as representatives of the RF in future. It feels very final now which is a shame.

In a year, two or five years when they are low on cash and social status, if they suddenly find that after all they do want to support the other members of the RF, they do care about the people of the UK, and all the UK causes they are patrons of, it just won’t ring true, however sincerely they might actually mean it by then.

CathyorClaire · 30/03/2020 20:33

WTF does this mean?

'we are focusing this new chapter to understand how we can best contribute'.

It's arrant grammatical nonsense. Charlie must be regretting the mega dosh he dropped at Eton...

TheTiaraManager · 30/03/2020 20:33

They can "best contribute" by being "financially independent"!!!!!

caringcarer · 30/03/2020 20:33

I thought they were giving up Sussex name now.

ButteryPuffin · 30/03/2020 20:36

@caringcarer The H R H bits of the title are going but they'll still be Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Though not 'Sussex Royal'!

thenightsky · 30/03/2020 20:37

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will spend the next few months focusing on their family and continuing to do what they can, safely and privately, to support and work with their pre-existing charitable commitments while developing their future non-profit organisation."

They could have done that for a fraction of the cost by basing themselves at Frogmore.

CathyorClaire · 30/03/2020 20:38

Where's it been said that they have repaid the Frogmore House money

There's a report in the Express that Megs has been on at Haz to 'gettajob' because the expenses are spiralling including repaying Toad Hall. I'm struggling to believe all of it on the simple grounds the royal spin machine would have been in overdrive. Although I can believe she's told him to get earning Grin

'we are focusing this new chapter to understand how we can best contribute'.

Gibberish.

ButteryPuffin · 30/03/2020 20:45

I'm now reading 'we want everyone to focus on Covid 19' (funnily enough, we already were, you patronising pair) as 'please distract yourselves and don't ask awkward questions about where the money for this private security is coming from'.

AlexaAmbidextra · 30/03/2020 20:46

Diana was a kindergarten teacher before she married Charles.

She wasn’t a teacher. She wasn’t that bright. She helped out part-time at a kindergarten. However, it could be said that once in the RF, for many years she gave the people their money’s worth.

Catrescue1971 · 30/03/2020 20:46

They've basically written a load of high falutin twoddle to say that they're at home doing nothing at the moment. Then they say they have a good excuse - Covid19. During the pandemic they're going to hide and are possibly panicking a bit, wondering what the heck they should do in the future about work.
