Dandy I am also enjoying Operation Penguin.
I assume tomorrow they'll be too busy to post, doing... something. Thinking of their next chapter!

Actually, when we need a new thread in a few pages, can we please call it 'Harry and Meghan: The Next Chapter'? In homage of course to that other power couple, Katie and Peter Smile

7Penguins · 30/03/2020 18:47

Dandy I also laughed at yolo’s cba Grin

Sending positive vibes your way Flowers

DandyPenguin · 30/03/2020 18:47

Thank you O'Vienna Smile

Not trying to attention-seek btw, just coming on here to take my mind off it while I'm on hold to 111. Am mentioning it in case I write something idiotic like Canada has a president again.

DandyPenguin · 30/03/2020 18:49

Yes 7 maybe I'm just easily pleased but it perversely felt like a symbol of proper friendship Grin

RosesandIris · 30/03/2020 19:04

Buttery I think it should be Barry and Peg the next chapter. What does everyone think?

RosesandIris · 30/03/2020 19:05

Actually better is a title which is a play on an Enid Blyton book. Barry and Peg , adventures in Tinseltown? Suggestions welcome

So they've gone and deleted every comment on ALL their IG posts. I guess this means that they will leave the SussexRoyal IG there but just not use it rather than deleting it altogether?

I think they were really stupid to move to LA in the middle of a pandemic when the US is going to be the new epicentre of this since Trump was so slow to act. They would have been better off quietly moving back to the UK but I guess their egos are too large to allow that to happen. It's irresponsible moving there. Other countries are telling their citizens to get out of there! Who else would be that stupid to move INTO a health war zone? They'd be far safer back in the UK. I feel sorry for their protection officers - they need to get their own private security now and pay for it. PC must be a saint for agreeing to it.

So relieved to hear PC is out of isolation again. It must be a very worrying time right now due to HM and PP ages.

DandyPenguin · 30/03/2020 19:10

Definitely Barry has to be in there. And "adventures in Tinseltown'. That reminds me of a certain Enid Blyton character whose adventures I don't think are politically correct anymore but who was a big influencer amongst the under 5s when I was a tot.

I think with the Barry Wales thing we need to do something with Meghan that keeps that, as it's a Welsh name.

Maybe Bazza and Mezza, Adventures in Tinseltown?

It's not perfect, so feel free to ignore or tweak.

RosesandIris · 30/03/2020 19:10

Surely though the whole household, including servants need to isolate for another week in line with guidelines?

It doesn't need to be me who starts a new thread, anyone can, but it's amusing to think of titles.

I've just scrolled back. I like Buttery's thread suggestion too.

There's something about The Next Chapter that is very them.

DandyPenguin · 30/03/2020 19:14

Barry and Meggie: The Next Chapter (aka Adventures in Tinseltown)

??

DandyPenguin · 30/03/2020 19:15

Or

HAM: The Next Chapter

But that sounds like a poor pig is off to the abattoir

Wheresthebeach · 30/03/2020 19:17

No further comment will be made??? How dismissive and superior of them. They really don’t like having to answer to anyone about anything. I hope the next year is a rude awakening for this pair.

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 30/03/2020 19:22

dandy you KNOW I love you and you make me laugh!

DandyPenguin · 30/03/2020 19:24

I do like how Omid, Meghan's Mouthpiece, stresses how NO OTHER royal comms reps will act on behalf of them. Other as in: they're still royal, bitches. And then goes on to specifically quote to make it very very clear that no one else will be speaking for them. That's a passive aggressive move if ever I saw one.

Omid wrote:

No other royal comms reps will act on behalf of Sussexes, “including Palace spokespeople, household representatives nor royal sources.”

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 30/03/2020 19:25

But that sounds like a poor pig is off to the abattoir

oh no! Grin but I do love a bit of pork crackling

Lordfrontpaw · 30/03/2020 19:28

I think when they realise they aren’t mega talented or fabulously nice/fun people to work with the work will dry up.

A few little pity/sook-up jobs here and there won’t pay for their lifestyle. It won’t be long before they are advertising weight watchers and senocot.

NewBrideToBe · 30/03/2020 19:41

hit the nail on the head there @Lordftontpaw.

Meghan didn’t make it as an A list actress on her merits and talent. She married Harry and became a member of the British Royal Family which put her in the limelight.

Diana was a kindergarten teacher before she married Charles. Then she was thrown into the limelight.

The difference between the two seems to be that Diana didn’t have ambition before her marriage to the heir (to the throne). Whereas Meghan had huge ambition to be a star long before she met Harry.

Think that says it all.

CallmeAngelina · 30/03/2020 19:41

Well, who could have seen Corona Virus coming, and its global impact, but I predict it will fuck up their plans, big-time.
Welcome to the real world!

Derail alert - soz

@FinallyHere

This surprises me mightily. I would have thought that abusers abuse, not just take it up when their power base is undermined. Likewise, I would have hoped that women having direct access to resources would have been less at risk of domestic abuse.

I posted a small quote from a 3000 word essay on the effects of gender (sex) on the vulnerability of refugees. It's true - the DD is inclined to make massive sweeping statements with her conclusions. Grin
I could write a 3000 word essay on that small bit I quoted alone.

I think one of the problems for refugees in camps is they are effectively imprisoned and removed from their normal day to day occupations. Frustrations build up and become difficult to keep a lid on. I think the women would still be vulnerable to domestic abuse despite being given access to resources, if they are living with a frustrated angry man.

HarryDaylight · 30/03/2020 19:47

The film /tv industry is notoriously cut throat, and nobody suffers fools for long.
Neither of them have much to sell apart from the royal status.
They're not wealthy by Hollywood Star standards, and everyone in business there knows that they have a short life span.
They have to cling onto the royal vibe or they are toast. It's their only selling point.

CallmeAngelina · 30/03/2020 19:49

Well, they're going to run out of money, pure and simple.
Who would have thought that 35 million quid wouldn't be enough?

FannyCann · 30/03/2020 19:52

They say they are "focusing this new chapter to understand how we can best contribute"

So the new thread needs to have New Chapter in the title.
