As far as thread titles go, this one seemed a bit sinister to me 'watching and waiting'! Obviously, I'm not saying it's inappropriate.

If there is another thread, please can I ask you not to be suprised or take it personally if people do disagree, or critique your comments. If you wish to make public posts then you leave yourself open to reply on a public discussion thread.

On a personal note, I'm not a massive fan of the food chat but it's innocuous when compared to some of the vitriol levelled at Meghan and her family! I am upset to only have found out about raclette today, when I became a vegan two weeks ago.

I like a bit of banter ,off topic conversation but not when there's as much of it as there is at the moment .

Mustress I quite often see threads in CHAT that are about "what's on the menu tonight " etc .That seems to be the home for extensive food chat ,not the RF section .

The number of threads seems to be important - I guess what has been called "bun fighting " ( not what I would call it ) must have helped
fill threads up .Or is that what all the talk about food is designed to do ?

Agree with Rocking. Asking a poster to back up a point is not harassment. I've been asked to back up many a point I've made here and I'm happy to do so.

rocking that's a shame re raclette as I'm not sure you could easily translate it for vegan eating. I've been told getting nice vegan cheese is particularly problematic.

This may be the 13th thread but it's never going to get to the giddy heights in number of Trump threads... no. 98 not far from the end at the moment. And I've been on since day one! But that's politics for you... and he does something every day, there is never a quiet day in US politics with him at the helm.

@Butterymuffin I think you're right. Any substitutes I've seen in recipes are labelled things like 'nutritional yeast', yum! Cheese and chocolate are my biggest weakness but I have found some lovely chocolate so far; I'm enjoying the research.

Personally, I'd prefer there not to be 'bun fight' in the title as it's become such a loaded term. Better to have a fresh start? Although I will be unsurprised if this request is 'scrolled on by'!

Although, seriously, he, and what he represents, makes me so fearful I probably would struggle with thinking about him so much. I could justify any vile comments towards him...

Do people really read threads like that - taking in the name of the poster before they read the post ?

I can't imagine that ,it would be a very unnatural way to read as far I'm concerned .I just scroll on down reading the content .

I guess this is more so if you're catching up as opposed to constantly refreshing .But I don't have a smart phone and read on a lap top so perhaps it's different for me .

Interestingly, two American Professors have studied us and our threads, and written a lengthy Paper called 'Citizen Curation in Online Discussions of Donald Trump's Presidency'

It's a piece of research in which we come out favourably because we are hot on fact checking and sharing information from reliable sources... or as reliable as they can be. They analysed our primary sources. Plus I was quoted in the paper. more than once, I've never been a guinea pig before!
