Harry and Meghan - "It Has Come To This"

These are the words of Prince Harry. He sounded defeated. He has lost his military patronages. He is no longer living anywhere near his brother or father. He is moving to Canada.

Meanwhile, Meghan has been photographed in the park, with Archie and the dogs, beaming. It seems that she alerted the paparazzi herself. Meghan has truly got what Meghan wants.

I wonder what they said to one another when he got back?

My knees gave out with ds in his sling. Eventually used it for boarding a bus with a folded up buggy - there never was a buggy space free.

thecatsthecats · 22/01/2020 16:13

I have actually worked on a massive early years project, including a visit to the same centre Kate's at today. (bet she doesn't have to interview the staff whilst a child drives a truck up and down her bum)

The questions in the survey seem utterly trite, but I guess it will help raise awareness of the real work.

Cuttingthegrass · 22/01/2020 16:14

Well all seems to be quiet pap wise today. I do wonder if there are serious discussions going on behind the scenes due to the timing of the Sussexes instapost especially as it related to something 2 weeks ago .... was about dogs and followed the picture of her walking her dogs. It just seems all so staged.

The80sweregreat · 22/01/2020 16:16

IF Archie ' doesn't exist' then who the hell were the Queen and the Duke and Doria Ragland looking at in that photo they had done at Windsor castle?

TheMustressMhor · 22/01/2020 16:16

I think that after we watch the Thomas Markle thing tonight we will have plenty to say.

I wonder if Meghan will respond to anything he says?

Core strength would also be linked to type of birth and how heavy Archie was. And I suppose on the condition of her core before birth. But yes she has access to the best postnatal practitioners.

The80sweregreat · 22/01/2020 16:18

I doubt Meghan will say anything about her dad's interview. Maybe not allowed to because of the upcoming court case? When does that go ahead? I don't know much about any of that though.

MaisWeee · 22/01/2020 16:18

Wow I can now see where the Queen's father got the stammer from! Good lord! Our kids nowadays thankfully have a far better time of it. What miserable existences it was to be a child years ago. But it was how children were reared. Sadly my mother never got the memo to say that times had changed........

Tinselette1940 · 22/01/2020 16:18

thecatsthecats that's hilarious. Never work with animals or children

MrsDoubtTried · 22/01/2020 16:21

TheMustressMhor

My apologies MrsDoubtTried. I really didn't intend to insult you in any way.

Sorry.

You didn’t! No worries and no need to apologise.
Smile

Tinselette1940 · 22/01/2020 16:21

Yes, it was a very unyielding family. It can't have been easy for him to be King. In fact I think he cried.

MaisWeee · 22/01/2020 16:22

In MN speak, Meghan is NC with her father. So she won't comment.

The80sweregreat · 22/01/2020 16:24

Lots of older folk look at life ' in the good ole days' through rose tinted specs.
I'm mid fifties and I don't look fondly at it at all! It was just different. I think I did have more freedom but there was still the chat about ' not talking to strange men' and danger stranger talks at school. Abuse was rife , but covered up a lot. A lot has changed for the better. Children with special needs are treated a bit better today and not just written off ; even if it's a struggle getting help for them.

MaisWeee · 22/01/2020 16:29

I'll tell you a wee anecdote about my cousin with a stammer. Or stutter as we called it. We all thought him thick - we being my mother and I was only a year older than him. In later years it turned out that his very tall/fat father, used to hammer the shit out of his tiny/diminutive wife. I presume that's where the stammer came from.
For all my mother's telling us that he was stupid, I can tell you all now, that boy is now a grown man, and a millionaire. He got a half assed diploma from somewhere, then got a job in a bank. He then became a millionaire - how? By setting up a bouncy castle business. His son is an All Ireland Champion boxer since the age of about 8 and has held the title. He's a devoted father, though separated from the children's mother. We all thought he was stupid because he had a stammer. How wrong were we!!!! He has more money than consultant doctors.
But, that's how it was seen years ago - if you had a stammer, it meant you were slow. I've long believed it was caused by sheer terror.
Anyway, I'll go back to my documentary now lol.

I’ve often heard the QM was different behind the scenes than her kindly public persona.

But yes society didn’t understand ‘hidden illness’ as in not something just physical that could be treated and be resolved. But sometimes I wonder how far have we come when we still hear dreadful stories like winterborne View and whorlton hall abusing people with learning disability suffering a mental health crisis.

The80sweregreat · 22/01/2020 16:31

Lots of people with a disability ( or anything a bit different about them) were hidden away ' in the good old days'.

I’m getting lots of ads for beanie hats and thick strong warm hiking boots

MaisWeee · 22/01/2020 16:38

I've blocked ads from Mumsnet. It takes too long to load the shit.

Some lovely cat photos on there, MardiBras. Great username btw.

TheMustressMhor · 22/01/2020 16:43

I've got AdB|lock Plus, MaisWee.

I have better things to do than look at adverts.

Bizarrely I'm getting ads for new beds (not that I paid attention to them until 5mins ago)
Made your bed now lie in it perhaps?
